Culprit was the TDC module. Replacing the automatic choke with a simple manual control made the Yanmar 3TN engine run smoother after cold and hot-starts. 1996 LX450 Land Cruiser 80. Walk Around, Exhaust, and Ride along BobWilson84 2021-05-31 | Here's a quick review of my most-recent project. This 1996 LX450 has 155k miles and was a blast to build. Aside from general maintenance, the engine is stock. The suspension is 3" ICON with Ironman arms and components. ARB air lockers front and rear with 4.88 gears turning 35x12.5X17 BFGs. I recovered the seats with Land Cruiser Heaven covers with seats heaters. An Alpine stereo takes care of the audio along with a matching rear view camera. Note, I forgot to mention in the video that the holes need to be plugged with grease or silicone after the pins are reinstalled. The open holes would be a perfect funnel for water to re-rust the pins in the future. I plan on packing the void with thick grease every so often.

Two opposite Hit Miss Engines Starting and Running BobWilson84 2016-10-09 | Both of these engines are similarly sized and were built in the late 1919s. The engine on the left is a New Way. It is air-cooled, vertical, pushrod, and uses a buzz coil ignition. The engine on the right is a Domestic. It is water-cooled, horizontal, sideshaft, and uses a Magneto (Wico type AX) for ignition. Both engines run well and were built using completely different designs.
2hp Domestic Hit Miss Sideshaft Engine with Diaphragm Pump. Starting and Running BobWilson84 2016-10-09 | I restored this engine and ran it for the first time. The mixer, timing, and gov. settings still need to be fine tuned, but it runs pretty well as-is. The engine is completely original, there is one repair on the head from freeze damage, aside from that, it was restored using only original parts form the 1920s.
2 1/2hp New Way Hit Miss Engine Running BobWilson84 2016-05-18 | Running a 2 1/2hp New Way engine after a mechanical restoration. The paint and battery box are original, the engine has the factory oiler, primer cup and leather belt too. It doesn't run very slow, but it's steady. The fan makes a neat woshing sound when the engine hits.
