Night Shift (short film) Manning Moore 2020-01-25 | This is my senior dissertation. For my final year at John Brown University, I had created this short film to show my ability to create a story, direct and finalize the theme of it.The writing process was the most difficult for me. I find myself being much more useful on the production and post production side of filmmaking. What was really helpful with creating this film was knowing what the limitations were for actually completing it. Because of where I am filming, there are not many actors. And even less good ones. My dialog writing is not what I would like it to be. Availability of crew and equipment was going to be low. Basically, I had a lot of limitations on the kind of story I could write and it helped me a lot in the writing process. I knew what couldn't be done and I knew what could be done. Limitations are truly where the most creativity can strive. I 100% could not have completed this film without the support of my entire team. The pre-production was heavily edited and adjusted by my friends, professor and absolutely amazing and selfless girlfriend Bekah (love you beautiful). The crew for production were among the most supportive and talented. I was in an amazing position to be able to pick the crew members I knew were going to make the best short film possible. I am absolutely in debt to those fine filmmakers and will hope to pay them back somehow in the future. The post production was mostly head up by me and my amazing audio director Russell Patterson. I was so very fortunate to have the team I did on this shoot. I want to personally thank from the bottom of my heart my entire team for helping me. Every person that had a hand in the creation of this project has the finalized one to be proud of. Thank you everyone. And thank you those who are taking time to watch it. I hope you see the culmination of many peoples hard work.
