"The girl who lost her grip" is a song about loss and grief. The singer struggles to grapple with the loss of her soulmate. She's unsure of how to move forward and go on in life. All of the happy times felt like they went by too fast and now she's left holding onto every piece of the past she can find. She dwells on the thought of the life she thought she was meant to have and people sit by and watch as she slips, unravels, and loses touch with reality.
I recently rewatched WandaVision and Wanda Maximoff's tragic backstory really inspired me while writing this. I hope you enjoy, whether you're a fellow nerd or just looking for a sad acoustic guitar song!

This summer, I finally got around to playing the video game, Detroit: Become Human. I was blown away by the storyline and found myself inspired by the themes each character represented. The game takes place in a futuristic time, where Androids exist to do the jobs humans think are beneath them. The game follows the lives of three Androids who start to become sentient. As their stories unfold, their paths intertwine.
One character in particular, Connor, represented the theme of identity. I found myself deeply relating to his storyline and was moved to write a song inspired by his story. As someone who just entered her twenties and is still working her way through university, I've found you face a lot of uncertainty and crossroads at this time of your life. It's easy to doubt yourself while you're still figuring things out. Another reason I found myself relating so deeply to this story was because of the theme of perfection. Growing up with OCD, I have always had this obsession with maintaining perfection in all that I do, to an unhealthy amount. This game reminded me that it's alright not to be perfect. As you grow, you change. You discover things about yourself and you go down many different paths. Remember, you're not a machine. Not being perfect doesn't mean people with think less of you. It just means you're human. It's okay to doubt who you're going to be. Doors will open and doors will close. You can change your mind and change your path. Continue to persevere and never take for granted the friendships you make along the way.
This song in particular was inspired by Connor (RK800) from Detroit: Become Human, and the people who impacted him, both negatively and positively (Hank Anderson, Markus, Amanda, Cyberlife).

The Musical - A Tribute to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Staged Reading Trailer)Amanda Fagan2024-07-20 | Four years ago, in the midst of the 2020 lockdown, I found myself with too much time on my hands. As a lot of us did during such an uncertain year, I took comfort in rewatching my favorite movies to pass the time. One night, feeling inspired from binging Marvel movies, I had an idea to write a song about Iron Man. It didn’t stop there though. Over the next two weeks, 16-year-old me wrote 23 songs about the Marvel cinematic universe, telling the story of the Avengers from Tony Stark’s point of view. Tony Stark is such a beloved character with one of the best character arcs the Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen. His story spans over a series of 9 movies and 10 years. I grew up watching the egotistical, arrogant, playboy, become a self-sacrificing hero, mentor, and father. It was inspiring and I wanted to find a way to memorialize his legacy. Being a theater-obsessed kid and an aspiring songwriter, I decided Tony Stark needed a musical and I wanted to be the one to write it.
2020 was the year my friend, Grace Thygeson, and I learned how to use Logic Pro for recording music remotely. I asked her if she could help me produce the songs I’d written and post them to YouTube. That’s how we spent our summer, and the songs caught the attention of not only local news stations, but Mark Ruffalo, the Hulk himself. He shouted out one of my songs on his social media and it gained over 70,00 views. Later that year, a Broadway and West End producer took interest in my project.
For the past 3 years, I have been working with Tegan Summer, a Broadway and West End producer. I have spent this time writing the libretto, cutting songs, adding songs, working with studio musicians, actors, finalizing the script, and shaping the story in a way that I felt truly does Tony Stark’s character arc justice. The musical focuses on all of the Avengers Movies and Captain America Civil War, primarily on the parts of the movies that are integral to Tony’s character development and overarching story. I took the time to carefully consider what the fans enjoyed most about Tony’s story, and shared my demos and rough drafts with a variety of them to get opinions and critiques over the past few years.
This past spring, my university allowed me to do a private staged reading of the finished script so that I could film it and use the footage to pitch my musical. It was an incredible educational experience, getting to work with actors from my university as well as the chair of my university's theater department. The staged reading counted as my junior project, which is a technical theater project I needed to complete to graduate in 2026. I got the opportunity to direct the show as well as work alongside an associate director, Susan Berkompas, and a music director, Sarah Grandpre. I received an A on the project and now my producer and I plan to use footage from the private staged reading in a pitch deck.
Getting a musical to the big stage takes years of planning and lots of support. My hope is to get other producers interested in this project and to pitch the musical to Marvel. This story means a lot to me and has been close to my heart for years. I don’t want the excitement to be forgotten. A tribute musical to these beloved characters will keep this story alive for years to come, and keep future generations invested in the iconic Infinity Saga. Please, share this video and spread the word! I’m counting on you, Marvel fans.

The staged reading was NOT monetized and no profit was made from it. This was done for educational purposes and as a tribute to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This musical is simply a love letter to the Marvel fans of the world.
The musical currently has 26 songs and 2 Acts. The above footage is from a college staged reading. Actors are on-book and staging is minimal due to the nature of the production.

Lyrics: It's not fair She got everything she wanted and still she wanted more She had a big house Rich fiancé Enough money to stay comfortable for all her days She's the oldest She's the prettiest Disingenuous Insidious All the handsome rich guys want to take her as their bride But she wasn't satisfied She had to go wreck her life And chase the only guy who had caught her sister's eye
Maria You couldn't put the fire out inside you Why'd you go and chase him You knew that you were taken You knew that he was playing you
It's not fair He got everything he wanted from her And then skipped town She didn't want to let him win So she married off, moved to London Told herself she had to let go of the attraction 'Cause she's the oldest She's the prettiest Married well Fastidious She's the family's pride The perfect daughter in their eyes But she wasn't satisfied When her father asked if she married for love She lied
Maria You couldn't put the fire out inside you Why'd you go and chase him You knew that you were taken You knew that he was playing you
Late April There he stands at a dinner party at your friend's You gave him the cold shoulder But it only made him bolder You knew you never had his heart You were just a game from the start After the affair, he walks away She's reproachable all her days
Maria You couldn't put the fire out inside you Why'd you go and chase him You knew that you were taken You knew that he was playing you Maria You left your family grieving And now your husband's leaving His act was so deceiving But wasn't ill-received by youMaria Music Video drops 4/26/24! This song was inspired by the novel, Sense and Sensibility. At the beginning of last summer, I made it my goal to read all of Jane Austen’s books in order of their release. Pride and Prejudice had already been a favorite of mine, so I thought, why not read the rest of Austen’s novels? First on my list was Sense and Sensibility. I loved the Dashwood sisters so much. I found myself especially drawn to Elinor. At the time of reading the book, I was 19, the same age as Elinor Dashwood, and my younger sister was the same age as Marianne Dashwood, 17. Marianne was the wild, lively, hopeless romantic and Elinor was the constantly in her head, orderly, older sister. I saw myself in Elinor. She had this war in her mind throughout the story, trying to figure out if the man she loved loved her back, or if it was all in her head. She didn’t let anyone around her know the constant turmoil she felt for the majority of the story. I feel there are a lot of overthinkers who could relate.
While structuring the song, I wanted it to show Elinor’s thought progression. At the beginning of the book, Elinor falls for Edward and, to her knowledge, he is a single man. The song starts after Elinor has learned that Lucy Steele has been secretly engaged to Edward for four years. She tries to convince herself to be happy for the pair and that Edward never intentionally led her on; surely, she misunderstood his feelings. As we shift into the next verse, we get to see more of Elinor’s feelings on the subject. Lucy starts bringing up her engagement to Elinor intentionally, trying to get a reaction out of her, but Elinor is determined to be a good friend and stay level headed. As the chorus states: “Think with your head, not with your heart.” However, when we reach verse 3, Elinor’s true feelings begin to show even more. We hear more of her agitation with Lucy as well as her suspicions that Lucy is marrying Edward for all the wrong reasons (for his large inheritance). The bridge is the crisis of the story structure, building to the climax. Elinor hears rumors of the pair’s marriage and thinks it’s all over. But this is a Jane Austen book, and Jane loves to give her characters happy endings after a little trouble.

This song was inspired by the novel, Pride and Prejudice. This is my all time favorite book, and the book that inspired me to read the rest of Jane Austen’s works. When starting my summer reading journey, I said I would read all of Austen’s books in order of release, so that meant re-reading Pride and Prejudice. It was even more enjoyable reading this story for the second time (and I’m on my third read currently this spring!) This book has incredible characters, so much humor, and Austen sprinkles so many little details throughout the story for the reader to read between the lines. It was hard to choose just one character from this story but the one who truly stood out to me the most was Mr. Darcy, but not for the reasons you may think. When you read between the lines of the book, you learn that Darcy is not a brooding angsty love interest, but rather an awkward, introverted, and possibly neurodivergent hero. It’s true, he is the pride and Pride and Prejudice, but that’s not the only reason he avoids talking to characters at parties. He’s the voluntary wallflower who doesn’t want to stray from his best friend and close circle. That is literally me. I see myself in Darcy and that’s why I chose to write about him. Since the novel is already Elizabeth's point of view, I thought it could be fun exploring a new perspective. I also wanted to write about the idea of falling in love with someone you don’t want to fall in love with. Darcy didn’t want to fall in love with Elizabeth, but he couldn’t stop himself. “I tried hard to fight this feeling but I want you. My mind is reeling.” I feel that’s another theme many people in this world can relate to, falling for someone who isn’t the ideal match (although I think Elizabeth is a great catch).
“I certainly have not the talent which some people possess, of conversing easily with those I have never seen before. I cannot catch their tone of conversation, or appear interested in their concerns, as I often see done.” - Mr. Darcy, Pride and Prejudice, Chapter 31

This song was inspired by the novel, Emma. This book was the fourth on my list for reading Jane Austen’s books in order. I had been told by many people that I would either love or hate the protagonist of this novel. Jane herself even acknowledges that this protagonist isn’t for everyone, but I really liked Emma Woodhouse. I liked her so much that I decided to write a song about her. Emma is the longest of Austen’s books, and this song is the longest of the songs on the EP. The song tells the story of a girl realizing little by little that she’s in love. It starts off with ignorance (cluelessness, hence the popular modern adaptation of the book, Clueless). Verse 2 is the gradual realization. I wanted to reference the famous line from the novel when Emma realizes her true feelings with the line, “It hit me like an arrow through the chest.” The bridge of the song is the longest part. I like to think of it as a gradual mental breakdown. It starts with acceptance, then moves to regret, reflection, and ends with yearning. But in the last chorus we learn that Emma misunderstood Knightley’s feelings all along. He was never in love with her friend. He had loved her all along as well. I felt that was something a lot of people could relate to: mistaking the feelings of someone, overthinking what people truly think about you. What a relief to be wrong! A theme I had a lot of fun playing with in this song is that of love being a game. Emma is the infamous matchmaker of classic literature. She tries so hard to make the perfect matches only to fail time and time again. She treated love like a game because she didn’t believe she was a player. Oh, how wrong she was.
“It darted through her, with the speed of an arrow, that Mr. Knightley must marry no one but herself!” - Emma, Chapter 47

This song was inspired by the novel, Mansfield Park. This book was the third on my list for reading Austen’s works in order of release. I was very shocked by the change in tonality and theme. The love stories in this book were a stark contrast to the ones in the previous book, Pride and Prejudice. I really enjoyed Fanny Price as a protagonist. She was one of my favorites in the book, however, I was not a fan of her love story. None of the love stories were truly satisfying, but I think that was the point. Mansfield Park truly is a novel that makes you think. The love story that caught my attention the most was that of Maria Bertram and Henry Crawford. Henry wanted to make all of the women in town fall in love with him. It was a game to him, but Maria truly fell hard for him. She ruined her life pursuing a man who never wanted to be serious with her, and I felt that was a tragic yet common story many people have found themselves in. Yes, Maria was in the wrong for cheating on James Rushworth, but Henry was just as much in the wrong for pursuing her. I feel there aren’t many adaptations that truthfully capture what really happened in the book between these two, so I wanted to try to capture that in a song. When Henry originally abandoned Maria, she tried to move on. She settled down with James Rushworth and moved away. Months later, Henry crashes her friend’s party, and Austen tells us she tried to avoid him, but he pursued her. He asked her to run away with him and she foolishly believed that this could be their happy ending. But after his fun, he left her for the next girl, and her reputation was ruined forever. She threw her life away on a man who wasn’t worth it. Maria is a cautionary tale. (And yes, it’s pronounced like “Mariah.” In the 1800s in England, that is how they pronounced that name).
“I cannot think well of a man who sports with any woman’s feelings; and there may often be a great deal more suffered than a stander-by can judge of.” - Fanny Price, Mansfield Park, Chapter 36

This song was inspired by the novel, Persuasion. This book was the sixth on my list of reading Jane Austen’s novels in order. It’s inspired by probably the most romantic love letter in all of fiction. I decided to change things up and focused on two characters for this song. The first verse and chorus are from Captain Wentworth’s point of view and the second verse and chorus are from Anne Elliot’s point of view. Half Agony, Half Hope is a song about rekindling lost love, a song about second chances. It’s been 8 years since Anne first rejected Wentworth’s proposal, not because she didn’t love him, but because others told her rejecting him was the right thing to do. She thought she would never love again. When she crosses paths with him again, she wonders if this could be her second chance. She also worries that she long missed that. Little does she know that Wentworth is thinking the same. As he wrote in his letter to Anne at the end of the novel, he was living in both agony over not knowing whether she still loved him after all this time, and in hope because there was a chance she did. You never want to be the person who lets “the one” get away. Wentworth and Anne almost did, but with age, time, and maturity, they learned to love again and found their way back to each other.
Throughout this EP, I made it my goal to try to be historically accurate with the music. I am a huge history nerd and wanted to only use instruments that were used in the Regency Era. This is why I steered away from brass and most woodwinds. I stuck strictly to piano, violins, cello, harp, harpsichord, English guitar, flute, and some percussion. I started off the album with the most true Regency Era sounding song and wanted to modernize the music as we went on this journey through the stories, just as Jane progressed as a writer. That’s why “Half Agony, Half Hope” is the most modern of the songs. It was the last novel Jane Austen wrote and what a legacy she left. The story of Persuasion is the perfect album closer.
“I can listen no longer in silence. I must speak to you by such means as are within my reach. You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever.” - Captain Wentworth, Persuasion, Chapter 23

This song was inspired by the novel, Northanger Abbey. This book was the fifth on my list of reading Jane Austen’s novels in order. Surprisingly, it became my favorite (after Pride and Prejudice.) I’ll admit, I was nervous going in because no one ever talks about this book. I wondered why. I still wonder why! It’s so good! From Jane Austen breaking the fourth wall to ghost stories and a charming love interest, how could you not enjoy it? I loved the theme of Jane breaking the fourth wall and telling us about her heroine. She makes the love of reading books a big theme in her story. Catherine Morland is a lover of novels. She dreams of being the heroine and longs to find her hero. She views everything through the lens of being a character in an incredible story. Throughout the story, other characters look down on her and derride her for her love of reading and imagination. “Life isn’t like the novels that you read.” However, there’s one man who encourages her imagination, Henry Tilney. I chose to use English Guitar in this song because it was used only by middle class families, and this is a middle class love story. Unlike the upper class Emma or the Gentlemen’s daughter Elizabeth, Catherine is from a large middle class family. Her idea of a happy ending is living in a cottage by a field of apple trees, a good book, and someone who encourages her to think. I think that’s my idea of a happy ending too. Throughout the story, Catherine holds fast to the idea that she will find her happy ending, whilst everyone around her loses their chances at theirs. Her best friend, Isabella, ruins her chance at love by not being able to decide between two guys. Her brother, James, is betrayed by the woman he loves. He writes to his sister during her stay at Northanger Abbey, signing the letter with the line, “Dearest Catherine, beware how you give your heart.”
“Oh! I am delighted with the book! I should like to spend my whole life in reading it.” -Catherine Morland, Northanger Abbey, Chapter 6

LYRICS
Verse 1: It was a modern Christmas fairytale. Someone was renting the venue out for a ball. The date was set, the invites in the mail. And I was hired to help deck the halls.
Pre-Chorus: I walked right into you while decorating. And our hands almost touched while we were picking up the tinsel that I dropped. I wasn’t invited but you said that I should come tonight.
Chorus: And I fell for you like snow fall. Whiteout. Couldn’t see at all. Thought I’d spend all December nights all alone and drinking cider watching all the festive cheer from afar. But now I’m feeling like a Christmas tree star.
Verse 2: It was a modern Christmas fairytale. And for secret Santa I got you. When I drew your name, I turned a snow-like pale. And when I thought it was too good to be true.
Pre-Chorus: Turns out that you got me too. What a coincidence? And our hands almost touched while we were trading off the presents that we bought. I wasn’t invited but I’m so glad that I came tonight.
Bridge: ‘Cause I fell for you like snow fall. Whiteout. Couldn’t see at all. Thought I’d spend all December nights all alone and drinking cider watching all the festive cheer from afar. But now I’m feeling like a Christmas tree star.
Bridge: And I knew I had to say something before the night came to an end. So I mustered up the nerve to tell you right there and then.
Chorus: I fell for you like snow fall. Whiteout. The only one I saw. Want to spend more December nights with you, drinking cider. No more watching festive cheer from afar. You got me feeling like a Christmas tree star. Oh oh.
I fell for you like snowfall (Oh) You got me feeling like a Christmas tree star

I'll be playing original songs, showing a sneak peak of my new single, and talking about other updates. Hope to see you there!
This song is extra special because I wrote it with my best friend and producer, @capillis (Grace). Grace had some old piano recordings she found from 2015 and gave them to me to play with back in 2019. We pieced them together and I wrote lyrics. We used to hangout in my living room playing around on Garage Band, recording demos with the earbud microphone. It's amazing how far this song has come! Four years later, here it is. I hope you enjoy :)

LYRICS
Country music playing as we were dancing in summer rain. Wearing your favorite jacket by the time that autumn came.
You know I fell for you by May. I want to be your baby. The things you said that August day. You know you really make me crazy for you. You got me spinning 'round in circles in my room. You know I’d marry you by June. When seasons change you know I want to be with you.
You and I singing along in the car to our song. By January I already knew that we belonged together.
You know I fell for you by May. I want to be your baby. The things you said that August day. You know you really make me crazy for you. You got me spinning 'round in circles in my room. You know I’d marry you by June. When seasons change you know I want to be with you.
I don’t want to spend another summer without you. I don’t want to dance with anybody that’s not you. I don’t want us to be over by October. In your arms that December. I want you to remember.
You know I fell for you by May. I want to be your baby. The things you said that August day. You know you really make me crazy for you. You got me spinning 'round in circles in my room. You know I’d marry you by June. When seasons change you know I want to be with you.

LYRICS
Bow is in hand and I aim at that arrogant smirking face I start to draw back the string but you turn to stop me You say killing him so abruptly- in the long run it would stand for nothing We just gotta take this in stride Take it one step at a time
Flash forward it’s you and me walking underneath the trees Standing in the forestry I watched you loose your sanity Something flickered in your eyes Oh something must’ve snapped inside Oh how you quickly changed your guise You say let’s be the bad guys
Please don’t make me choose between the life I had with you and the moral thing to do I really wish your act was just a ruse but I know you’ve lost your mind And I know that it’s my time Do I join you at your side or do I let you face your own demise
The things that you say are always wise and in the end you’re always right But from the truth I cannot hide as you grab sticks of dynamite You say let’s burn it all to the ground You wanna blow up the whole town The place we used to call our own The place we used to call our home
Please don’t make me choose between the life I had with you and the moral thing to do I really wish your act was just a ruse but I know you’ve lost your mind And I know that it’s my time Do I join you at your side or do I let you face your own demise
Oh it’s not too late to go back It’s not late to take it back It’s not too late Don’t turn your back on me
Oh it’s not too late to go back It’s not late to take it back It’s not too late Don’t turn your back on me
Please don’t make me choose between the life I had with you and the moral thing to do I really wish your act was just a ruse but I know you’ve lost your mind And I know that it’s my time Do I join you at your side or do I let you face your own demise

LYRICS
I still remember the snow last December, the way that it fell on the ground In this miserable place, with you, I felt safe I thought that on you I could count
I remember last Christmas you got me a new disc I was so excited to put it on And we danced along to my favorite song I can't believe those days are gone
How did such a happy story have such a tragic end
Could we go back to how it was back then When nothing mattered more than friends Before we lost that happiness to stubbornness and arrogance
I still remember the lingering embers you stared at in my fireplace I let you borrow my things Took you under my wing But I guess that my trust was misplaced
I put my guard down just for you I should have known you'd leave me too
But could we go back to how it was back then When nothing mattered more than friends Before we lost that happiness to selfishness and impudence
You needed me last December, but I was still in November, focusing only on my regrets And I let everything that we had slip right through my hands
Am I the reason such a happy story had such a tragic end
I guess I showed up too little too late Would things have been different if I had stayed I can hardly remember the rain last December, but I know that burned through my skin They all loved that version of me, the one who couldn't think Would you love me more if I was who I was then
But could we go back to how it was back then When nothing mattered more than friends Before we lost that happiness to senselessness and belligerence And I'm sorry I didn't become what you wanted I'm sorry that I left all of your nights haunted Why is it that you always leave in the end Why is it, with you, everything's past tense
I still remember the snow last December, the way that it fell on the ground

LYRICS
I had to lose everything to gain everything Sometimes you have to leave a knight behind They all called me insane for how I played the game But it was worth every sacrifice Oh
Welcome to my chessboard You should not have waged war No way to know which move I will make next This is my chessboard There's no need to keep score 'Cause I already have your king in check Oh, oh woah, oh
You only need a pawn for so long It's served its purpose Now it's time to go You hate my strategies Maybe you're scared of me As long as in the end, I'm in control
Welcome to my chessboard You should not have waged war No way to know which move I will make next This is my chessboard There's no need to keep score 'Cause I already have your king in check Oh, oh woah, oh
All of my moves are deliberate They are supposed to stay ignorant They always find me winning the game They think I'm insane, but I just know how to play
Welcome to my chessboard You should not have waged war No way to know which move I will make next This is my chessboard There's no need to keep score 'Cause I already have your king in check Oh, oh woah, oh
I think that it's time I think that it's time I think that it's time that you resign

LYRICS
I see the walls of black and gold And though the faces here look kind I know the secrets that they hold Each one is playing their cards close And all of them have stories that will probably never be told
Have you heard of the man with the mask Or the great ruler who one day finally snapped and he blew all that he'd made to kingdom come Have you heard of the kid who led men into war Or the tale of the un-killable warrior These legends all were so much more than rhymes once upon a time
I see the ocean down below I'm flying in the night I touch the sky The stars are just so close I search for hours in the snow Longing for a feeling that I felt when I was home
Have you heard of the man with the mask Or the kid who wished that he could take it all back Would've never done what he'd done if he'd known Have you heard of the ghost that would melt in the rain Or the girl who had nothing to lose, just to gain These legends all were so much more than rhymes once upon a time
Oh woah, oh woah, oh oh
I see obsidian and smoke The ashes that still linger here are traces of what once was home We lost But the story must get told One of power, friendship, and betrayal A tale as old as time Oh Once upon a time Once upon a time I saw the walls of black and gold
Oh

LYRICS
I told you from the start this day would come But then again, you never listened You're telling me you feel betrayed when you're the one who chose them over me
You had nowhere to go You were scared and alone I welcomed you into my home Why are you so blind Can't you see that they left you behind I was the only one who stayed by your side
You can leave that's fine I never wanted friends anyway So don't you act surprised I promise you will rue the day you double-crossed me The day you willingly lost me The day you made the worst mistake of your life You don't wanna be on my bad side
You used me from the start, didn't you Don't pretend that it's not true You're begging me to please back down but I'm choosing what I fight for now
Say you don't understand You thought I was your friend Then why'd you stab me in the back The voices in my mind are never satisfied Should've known when I'm threatened I always attack
You can hate me that's fine You never were my friend anyway You can't take it back this time I promise you will rue the day you double-crossed me The day you willingly lost me The day you made the worst mistake of your life You don't wanna be on my bad side
It's all coming down in flames I'm gonna set your world ablaze I told you what I came to do I promise I will follow through
You can hate me that's fine You never were my friend anyway You really messed up this time I told you, you would rue the day you double-crossed me The day you willingly lost me The day you made the worst mistake of your life You don't wanna be on my bad side You don't wanna be on my bad side You don't wanna be on my bad side

LYRICS
I never called you out even though you've done me wrong a thousand times You're spreading rumors around town but you told me that you were fine
I was down by the ocean when I heard about all of the things that you said Now my eyes are open, but my heart is broken I wish you didn't
Yes, I was a doormat in the past But now I've changed I'm done with that You taught me some lessons but all your aggression drove me up the wall I should've known we'd never last Bottom of the sea's where my heart sat Lost in the depression with all of these questions My mind is obsessing over the fact that you stabbed my back That you stabbed my back
Endless nights that I stayed up late crying over you Gave you a chance but now it's too late There's things you can't undo Thought I'd sink but I swam, so you tried to break my heart Tried to rip my sail but I still availed so you fed me to the sharks
Yes, I was a doormat in the past But now I've changed I'm done with that You taught me some lessons but all your aggression drove me up the wall I should've known we'd never last Bottom of the sea's where my heart sat Lost in the depression with all of these questions My mind is obsessing over the fact that you stabbed my back That you stabbed my back
I admit that I wanted you back at first You even had me questioning my own self-worth But now I see that my loneliness made me blind Trying to ruin me seemed like the perfect crime Tried to use your lips to sink my ship, but I'm not going down Yeah, my heart sank under the waves, but I'm back on deck now
I was down by the ocean when I heard about all of the things that you said
Yes, I was a doormat in the past But now I've changed I'm done with that You taught me some lessons but all your aggression drove me up the wall I should've known we'd never last Bottom of the sea's where my heart sat Lost in the depression with all of these questions My mind is obsessing over the fact that you stabbed my back That you stabbed my back
I was down by the ocean Yeah

"Tuesday Night" is a song about wishing things had ended differently in a relationship. The singer wishes to go back the day she last saw the subject of her song, even though it was the day they parted ways. She can't help but think if she had said something else or tried to stop the person from walking away, maybe things would have been different. Throughout the song, she reminisces about and relives the Tuesday it all went wrong.

"Down By The Ocean" is a song about realizing your worth. For so long, there's been a person in your life who you've let talk down to you, do you wrong, and walk all over you. You tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, or maybe you were just too scared to stand up for yourself. "Down By The Ocean" is about drawing the line, putting your foot down. "Yes, I was a doormat in the past, but now I've changed. I'm done with that." Remember your worth and don't settle for a friendship or relationship where the other person has you constantly questioning your value. Rise above the waves of hurt they tried to drown you in.

"Fool's Gold" is a song about romanticizing a past relationship or friendship. After it's over, you look back at it through rose colored glasses, only remembering the good parts of it. "Fool's Gold" is about being so hung up on the past that you try to rekindle things. But some things are best laid to rest. You discover the relationship/friendship wasn't as good as you remembered. You remember why you left in the first place.

"Strangers" is the first of many songs I plan to release this year. I have a song book full of songs I wrote in middle school and high school that have been waiting to be produced and released to the public. I plan to "free the unreleased," as many of you have asked me to on my live streams. "Strangers" is a song about self-discovery. Maybe you had a friendship or relationship where the person felt like your other half. When you lost them, you felt like half a whole. This song is about trying to find the positive in a sad situation. "And I may hate it, that we're strangers now, but before I didn't know me at all." You may be on your own now, but now you have the chance to discover yourself. Learn to love who you are.

December is finally here! I wanted to start off the month by releasing a new Christmas/December themed song.
This song takes more of a sad angle when it comes to the Holiday Season. It's about reminiscing. The singer does not want let go of the happy Christmas memories she made in the years past. She repeats certain mantras, about missing a specific time, memory, feeling, maybe even a specific person. "I miss December 17th," "a weekend getaway," and other lines are repeated in both verses, showing that the singer is reminiscing on specific fond memories. Toward the end of the song, she tries to focus on the fact that at least those memories happened, and they will stay beautiful, frozen in time, and she can look back on them and cherish them forever.
Big thanks to Grace aka @capillis for the wonderful production on the song. She did amazing as always and I appreciate all of the hard work she put in. I couldn't have don this without her!

After watching the Dream SMP finale, I knew I had to write a song. The character whose arc stuck out to me the most in the end was Jack's. Jack was never the "main character." He was always in the background, there during nearly every major event but always forgotten or unseen. I loved seeing how that plot point was incorporated in his finale. All he ever wanted was for someone to care about him, and I felt that was something a lot of people could relate to. At first, he tried to help, but when his good deeds went unnoticed, he went to villainous extents to get attention. In the end, everything he did, both good or bad, went unseen. Worse than being hated or loved, no one knew he existed, and it tore him apart. His emotions lead him to acting irrationally and dooming everyone on the server.
I wanted to capture Jack's character's mindset before he acted out. What was going through his mind? What lead him to this point?
Grace and I have been grinding for the past two weeks to get this song out as soon as possible! Big shoutout to @capillis (aka Grace) for her amazing production. I couldn't have done this without her. Let me know if you hear any similarities from "Bittersweet" that we incorporated ;)

The moment Wilbur's finale stream ended, I knew I had to write, but for hours, I couldn't. I just sat on the floor of my dorm, contemplating the events that came to pass, wondering what angle I could possibly capture this tragic story of two brothers from. Later that night, it hit me. I wanted to capture the fact that Wilbur's character was a bad person. He left in the end because he was a coward and ultimately told Tommy he shouldn't have expected any more from him.
When we care about someone and they hurt us or leave us, we often question if anything that happened between us mattered, whether it be a relationship, a friendship, or found family, like Wilbur and Tommy's characters. "What we had was real, but it was temporary." This song is from the point of view of the perpetrator, the person who left, who caused the pain. "You're searching for closure, but I've always been such a coward." I hope you enjoy the song. It's crazy to think that I've been making Dream SMP songs for almost 2 years now! Thank you for supporting me and listening to my work.
A massive thanks to Grace Thygeson and Claudio Tristano! Grace worked on the first stage of this song for weeks, all the while balancing her final semester in university. I appreciate her so much. Claudio was on the production team this time around for the final stages of the song, as well as contributing his amazing guitar work and mastering. Thank you both so much! You efforts mean more than you could know. I love working with you both!
The incredible artwork in this video was done by @arialavie! It was so lovely being able to work with her again. I thought it was only fitting to have her do the art for my last Wilbur song since she did the art for my first one! Q: Can I use your song in my animatic? A: I’m totally fine with it, as long as you credit me. My songs have YouTube Content ID though. But don't worry, I won't report or take down any of your creations! I love watching all of your wonderful animatics! I just have the Content ID so it's easier to track if someone re-uploads my music.
