Jack Nitzsche - Up Where We Belong (Zack Gets Paula) - An Officer and a Gentleman (1982) Alachas1985 2026-07-09 | Unfortunately, a complete score for An Officer And A Gentleman (1982) by Jack Nitzsche has never been released. This has always bothered me, especially for the fantastic ending instrumental version of "Up Where We Belong" that plays during the film's climax.For this reason, I took it upon myself to extract the best version I could. I started by exporting the 5.1 surround sound audio from the DVD release. Luckily, this was most of the work, as all but the central channel were very clean without any additional noises. The problem was the central track, which included all of the dialogue and the sounds of the industrial machinery along with the critical lead guitar melody, drums and bass.To isolate these instruments, I first used Audacity's OpenVINO Music Seperation add-in to separate out the central track into the "drums", "bass", "vocals" (which were removed) and "other instruments" (which was the guitar and machinery).I then imported each of the tracks (the standard surround sound of Left, Right, Surround Left, Surround Right, Low-Frequency Effects) plus my isolated Central tracks into Adobe Audition and ran a noise reduction process on the central guitar track. Luckily, there is a clear few seconds of just the industrial sounds before the guitar commences, so this made the process much easier. I then had to tweak the noise reduction to remove as much of the industrial noises as possible whilst still retaining as much of the guitar as I could. The effect isn't perfect, but I am happy with the result.Apparently, the name of this track is "Up Where We Belong (Zack Gets Paula)", as indicated by simpsonsmusic500.wordpress.com/tag/an-officer-and-a-gentleman when The Simpsons wanted to clear the track for episode 7G11 "Life on the Fast Lane" (aka "Jacques to Be Wild"). This would make sense, as the song "Up Where We Belong" by Joe Cocker And Jennifer Warnes was (accidentally) featured twice on the original soundtrack (tracks 2 and 7) and I suspect one of these was meant to be this instrumental version by Mr Nitzsche.Anyway, feel free to use this however you want, as I obviously don't own any of the rights to it and it has just been uploaded for anyone who loves this soundtrack and is likewise disappointed not to have an official release.

Onyxia Wipe Animation - Rend Edition Alachas1985 2024-12-05 | As many fans will recall, the original video(s) were taken down for "violating [Youtube's] violent or graphic content policy", but despite my repeated inquiries, YT refused to give me any specific details. In sarcastic response, I uploaded my "Youtube Approved Edition" with many of the graphics replaced by two dudes fucking, which apparently was not against YT policy. Go figure. Anyway, after many discussions in the comments, I'm pretty sure it was the original rend image that got the original video(s) taken down, so I have made this version with just an edited rend image / animation using the original "rend" ability icon from WoW. I also (poorly) edited out the blood, so hopefully this version won't hurt anyone's feelings. Rocky IV - Hearts On Fire / Up The Mountain Alachas1985 2020-08-11 | This is as close a rendition of the music from the second training montage in Rocky IV as you're likely to find using only published music sources.The music is a mash-up of John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band's "Hearts on Fire" and Vince DiCola's "Up The Mountain", which featured on the Rocky IV soundtrack and score, respectively.The only significant difference from the version heard in the film is the opening drum flurry (as featured in the soundtrack version), which was overdubbed with a guitar slide in the film, presumably to cover the slightly shorter introduction.The film version of "Hearts on Fire" skips the first chorus and second verse entirely and also repeats the first phrase of the keyboard solo at ~1:43.The song then seamlessly blends into "Up The Mountain", for the finale.Since DiCola also co-write "Hearts on Fire", it was easy for him to write the necessary components to segue from one piece to the next.
