Ghost walking in the snow? Dan Exton 2015-03-28 | Cleveland Ohio, West Park neighborhood. Recorded on my security camera on March 27, 2015 at 5:15:29pm EDT. Something unseen walks across the fresh snowfall on my front lawn and leaves some kind of footprints/shoe prints. It was broad daylight, cloudy, but daylight. The prints were still there 12 hours later undisturbed. My cameras also use IR light that can reach that area at night as well as from the streetlights. However, I doubt the IR illumination was on during the day, but was pretty cloudy, so can't say it was off or on with any certainty, and I don't know if the cameras will still record IR from other sources (daylight) in combination with the daylight or not, or if it only records the ambient visible light spectrum when the IR lamps are off. So in effect, given the reception of IR was off, would we have seen something if the IR was on?3/28/15 Update. I seen the prints still in the snow 12 hours later, as the snow was still there with little or no extra accumulation since the event. By noon today, even though still below freezing, the spring sun melted that coating of snow. I went out and investigated 21 hours after the event, afternoon, and could find nothing strange on the lawn where those prints were made.The elderly woman who lived on the other side of me (Ruthie, who moved to FL and passed away) told me one time, actually a couple times as I asked again, that there was a death in that house years ago, forgot how, and it was allegedly haunted. Maybe too crowded there for the spook and it decided to go on to a quieter abode, LOL. Seemed to come from that direction. I was told my house was "clean".OK, got the scoop from one of my neighbors who lived on the same street at the time. The family's name was Saunders. The old man died suddenly of a heart attack, but the family said afterwards all kinds of strange noises and doors slamming and other events in the house were going on after his death. Cleveland OH - April 4, 2022 Proof recycles go into the same landfill - same truck for both now Dan Exton 2022-04-04 | Makes no sense to recycle in Cleveland. It's been long known that the City of Cleveland Waste Management have been throwing our recycled material into the landfills with the regular garbage, and have been at least using separate trucks for each, yet the City was fining residents for putting trash in with the recycles. But I see today, they are no longer hiding the fact that they both go into the same landfill, the same truck was picking up both garbage and recycles. For me, it all goes in the same can, why should I recycle? Cleveland should also ban street parking on collection day. You can see a SUV parked there, and the garbage truck takes up the rest of the street, causing some thinking they can still make it thru the little that's left. Two weeks ago, one driver found out the hard way, and crumbled the front of his car. Often almost every spot in front of every house has a car parked. Everyone here has their own driveway, but many don't use them, or just park up to their gate, and extra cars go in the street. Stop being selfish! Open that gate and pull your cars ALL the way up! Banning parking will let the trucks do their job and still leave a lane for traffic to get thru.

A frequent pick-up here around sunset or so, this time at 4:58pm, and local sunset for the Cleveland area is 5:06pm today on 11/19/21EST. I forgot to flick the clock/freq button to show the freq. This was received on my stock 2005 Dodge Caravan radio in the parking lot of the Giant Eagle supermarket at 14650 Snow Rd. (between Smith Rd. and W 130th. St.), in Brook Park Ohio, a suburb bordering Cleveland on Cleveland's West Side, about 2 miles east of Cleveland Hopkins Airport. As far as I know this station only puts out 10 watts. They were giving covid info at first, then an ID at 01:32 but the station faded right at that time (as always seems to happen), then came back with what sounds like road construction updates. At 00:54 the Hudson County Dep't of Health was mentioned and a phone number. At 02:00 you can hear "For more information, visit hudsoncounty(unintelligible)DOTorg".

C Crane EP Pro vs GE Superadio III Dan Exton 2021-06-24 | Compared my new C Crane EP Pro vs my GE Superadio III. The Superadio has issues, cutting our or suddenly lowering volume and sounding muffled. I noticed the EP Pro's dial is off the further up the dial you go on both AM & FM. Toward the bottom of the dial it looks accurate, starts going off at about 800 Khz. By the time you dial up to WHK 1420, the analog dial looks like about 50 Khz low, around 1370. All reviews I read about the radio says the dial is spot on. I went outside and tried 4 AM stations and 1 FM station for the video on both radios. This was about 2:45pm EDT in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 23, 2021. First station is 50KW WLW 700 Cincinnati, about 240 miles. I'd call it fringe reception. I used the antenna trimmer knob for all the AM stations on the EP Pro to bring the stations in at their strongest. Both radios were close IMO, however a tad more quieting on the EP Pro, the Superadio had a tad more hiss, went much louder, and sounded much better due to a more powerful speaker, even though the EP Pro probably was pulling it in a tad better. I then went to WAKR 1590 in Akron, about 30 miles from me. The EP Pro seemed to pull it in just a tad better. I then found a very weak station on the EP Pro somewhere between 1100 WTAM and 1150 WCUE. My Superadio could not get it at all. I think the station was lost in the hash from WTAM. So the EP Pro seems to have better selectivity. A Google search shows me the station was probably 1130 AM WDFN, Detroit, about 80 miles across the lake.The last AM station was 740 Zoomer Radio from Toronto, ON, a moderate signal 50KW station about 200 miles away. Again, the EP Pro brought it in with slightly less hiss than the Superadio. However all and all it sounded better on the Superadio despite slightly more hiss.I had all the bass and treble controls on both radios in the center flat position for the test, except for WLW where I had both closer to maximum. The antenna trimmer knob seemed to be a little more effective toward the tip of the AM dial. I kept the AM wide switch off on both radios.Just for grins I tried putting the back switch to 9 khz steps instead of 10 Khz. I got WHK 1420 in strong, going on the chart I found, I was tuned into 1422 Khz. However I noticed instead of the dial reading about 50Khz low, it read about 50 Khz high, analog dial read about 1470.An earlier non-recorded test showed the EP Pro to be more selective and somewhat more sensitive on the FM dial. I was getting mainly weak stations between the strong Cleveland ones I could not get on the Superadio. I then tuned in WNIR 100.1 from Kent, Ohio, maybe 1 KW and 30 miles, and a pretty weak signal on the west side of Cleveland. The EP Pro was pulling it in better with almost full quieting once I adjusted the antenna. The Superadio always had hiss and more multipath as well on WNIR. Earlier I tried WKHR 91.5, a low power college station from Bainbridge, OH, about 25 miles due east that plays big band music. A little stronger than WNIR, but full quieting on the EP Pro, and still some hiss on the Superadio.The infamous "pop" when you first turn on the EP Pro was barely there IMO. Something I can live with. Could hear a slight "whine" when tuning thru vacant FM frequencies due to the DSP tuning. I couldn't hear it on AM, however I have a rather high noise floor on AM, on any radio. My main beefs are the dial being off, wondering if I should exchange? As well as could have had a beefier amplifier. The EP Pro claims a 5 inch speaker, and the Superadio a 6 inch speaker. However night and day between them, the Superadio has a much beefier sound and goes louder, The EP Pro gets to maybe medium volume in a weaker station that the Superadio will play loud, even if a bit more hiss. However turning the bass and treble up on the EP Pro helps make it a little louder. I then turned on the original equipment radio in my 2005 Dodge Caravan, parked in my yard not far from the radios I was testing, and the van radio blew both the EP Pro and the Superadio away on both AM and FM. My Superadio III is about 25 years old, and I know different components get weak with age and use, and wondering if it was new if it would really beat the EP Pro and be more on par with the van radio?
Whirlpool gas dryer model LGQ8000JQ4 not heating well Dan Exton 2021-03-29 | Starts at about 00:25 seconds in. Seems to start drying OK, then gets cold to luke warm at best. I stuck a wyze cam at the peep hole, for about the first 15 minutes, the gas cycled on and off about every 45-50 seconds NOT SHOWN (if that's normal?), then the part shown here, was trying to ignite? and failed,, tried again few seconds later, failed, then did ignite for a good minute or so, then 2 more failures, but looked brighter on 2nd 2 failures. 3/29/21
Odd 2005 Dodge Caravan SXT random engine noise Dan Exton 2021-03-16 | Sounds like it's coming from the alternator area, which I had replaced maybe 3 years ago. I used a hoes and a dowel rod to listen as well, still general alternator area. 84K miles, driven maybe 250 or so miles a month.Never hear it on a cold start. Starts generally after 15-45 minutes of driving, but sometimes not at all. It will usually stop after a while, then start again, then stop, etc. Goes for a few minutes at a time. If I stop the engine when doing so, and go say inside a store a few minutes, the noise will start again when I start the engine. Multiple stops when shutting/starting engine otherwise seems to have no effect one way or the other. Can't really hear it good until I get out of the van, although I could hear it well. I tried revving a couple of times and it went to a faster and higher pitch. Weird when I rolled the window up, twice, it stopped, but started again after a minute. I see no indication it's losing voltage or charge, as I have a dongle that goes in the cig lighter that displays voltage, always around 14.2V after a few seconds of starting. This has been going on a good 6+ months now, so I assume something not critical. I also tried touching several areas at/around the alternator when I set the phone down, to see if something was just loose or vibrating, and nothing found. Posted 3/16/21.

KFAT 1978 DJ Sister Tonya clean version Dan Exton 2019-07-31 | This is from a cassette tape I recorded off the air when I lived in South San Francisco, CA aka "South City" in 1978. Two stations I would listen to, this one KFAT 94.5 in Gilroy, CA, maybe 50 miles south of where I lived. I edited out the first 13 minutes of the tape as the DJ was playing some really graphic R rated stuff that wouldn't be allowed on the air even today. Wasn't a strong signal, but picked it up fairly well on my Pioneer receiver in my second floor apartment. The DJ, Sister Tonya, doesn't speak until 30:15 into this recording, and will mention what was played and what I cut out. She speaks again at 37:18 and gives a station ID at 38:00. I think the format would be called Americana today, but they were all over the place, alt country, folk, rock, blues, comedy segments. Willie Nelson, Jimmy Buffett, I think some Marshall Tucker in there, some obscure stuff as well. Gilroy is known as the garlic capital of the world, and they also just had the tragic shooting at the annual garlic festival. I wanted to attend the garlic festival when I lived in CA, but having no wheels at the time, so would have been a futile affair trying getting there on public transit.The other station I would listen to was KOME 98.5 from San Jose, good strong signal. Pretty much Album Oriented Rock, much like what WMMS was doing in Cleveland at the time, but I think they pushed the envelope more and got in trouble with the FCC more than due to naughty language. The call letters was just the tip of the iceberg, station liners such as "Wake up with KOME in your ear", and "Don't touch that dial, it has KOME on it". FYI, radio stations west of the Mississippi river start with K instead of W. Then you had shock DJ's like the late great (RIP) Dennis Erectus in the evening, and he'd get pretty bawdy.This is what's called an "unscoped" aircheck, recorded as is, all songs intact. They cut thru the bushes to the white car, tried but didn't get in, and then went up the driveway to the right, were there quite a few seconds, can't see what they did. They avoided the car parked on the street. Before crossing the street, I assume they tried the next house (off camera view) before crossing the street, as a several second lag. Cuts to other camera, after they crossed the street, they avoided the car in the drive next to me, but did get in the next car in the next drive, they were there a good minute and a half. They then avoided the next house, and looks like they might have went up the driveway after that, but couldn't really see there. They didn't come back this way.
Whirlpool ACQ122XK0 Window Unit A/C wont start up, just tries Dan Exton 2015-06-03 | Hi, I have the above A/C, maybe 15 years old, been in storage most that time. I want to use it, so fired it up, for the first 5 minutes working fine, fan working, blowing cold air. I went out of the room to grab a digital thermometer to test temperature, and when I got back to the unit is was making a sound characteristic of when the outside is iced over, like a muffled fan. I quickly scanned the temp, and showed 28-35 degrees F in the louvers, and I then shut the unit off. No ice as it was just running in a 70 degree room to make sure still working before it goes in the window. I turned it back on about 5 minutes later, and am getting the results seen in the video. It just has a low volume hum on all settings, no fan, then the compressor tries to kick on, but doesn't, and it will keep trying again every several seconds. The hum that's always there in the background may be hard to hear as the mic didn't pic kit up well. Volume must be up to hear the compressor trying, you can also see the room light dim when the compressor tries. You can see I started in power saver mode in turbo, then went to regular cool on low, still nothing, then Fan Only (FO) in display, and no fan at all. Don't know if compressor or fan or both? It's an 1/8 hp, 11,600 BTU unit. was thinking on getting a Supco hard start, need to find one down to 1/8hp. Does it seem like the Supco may work before I order it? I have never worked on an A/C unit before, so I assume using the Supco is relatively easy upon seeing Youtube videos. Thanks much.

I bought this vibration speaker from dailysteals DOT com a few days ago, for under $15, for grins. I like playing with new gizmos, but was a bit skeptical with this one. I found this one to be worth it. Depends on what you attach the vibration "head" to, you can get very little sound, or room filling sound that's not bad tone-wise. Thick solid objects seem to perform poorly. Thin hollow objects seem to work well. The best 2 things around the house, so far, is a huge empty cardboard box a 47 inch flat-screen TV came in, but kind of defeats the portability aspect, and a mid sized empty Styrofoam cooler which goes loud enough that it's too loud. Hollow doors also work well, but they're not very portable.

This 4+ minute video clip has the timesweep somewhere in the 1978 - 1980 range. They have a Western Digital logo screensaver on the channel 6 video, with no station ID seen. New Franken FM testing in Cleveland Dan Exton 2012-06-16 | New hybrid analog TV Channel 6 with audio at 87.7 FM testing in Cleveland, Ohio, at 5:45PM EDT, on June 16, 2012. Call letters are WLFM. Actually audio is 87.75 but most FM receivers won't tune that precise. These "Franken FM" stations are popping up all over the country, using the fact the analog channel 6's audio is heard at 87.75 Mhz. These are low power stations, which are the only analog TV stations still allowed to operate in the US. However, they have a 3 year life as they too will have to shut down by September 2015. Don't know what format they will air. These stations usually program music as any radio station would on the audio, and the required video component can be anything, a studio webcam, or community info, or maybe old silent movies where you would turn the sound of the other audio program off to enjoy. Notice Channel 6 is not mentioned in the announcement which goes over the TV audio as well as 87.75 FM. The FM station will be somewhat lower in volume than a traditional radio station. At this time, the station is testing, showing slides of downtown Cleveland, and has 4 songs in rotation for the audio, The Tribe's, Cav's, and Brown's fight songs from the 1970's, as well as Michael Stanley Band's "My Town". This aircheck is taken in the W 150th and Puritas area near the West Park neighborhood. I am using a DVR, and a bowtie UHF antenna in the attic. Would prolly come in much better using a proper low-band VHF antenna, but no other local stations on the low band in digital.

There was 2 versions, one tame, and one said for adults only. Of course I picked up the adults only one, was $20 at the time. Not long after these devices came out on keychains. But I have what I believe to be the oroginal, or one of the originals. I had this 19 years, and it's starting to fall apart. It has 4 sayings. And if you pull off the battery cover (uses 2 AA's), and hold the "talk" button down while quickly jiggling one end of one of the batteries against it's contact (while keeping the other end of the battery conncted as well as the other battery completely connected), you can make it rap!

John Bassette - Weed & Wine Dan Exton 2011-06-18 | The late great folk'n'soul singer, John Bassette from Hessler Street in Cleveland Ohio. "Weed & Wine" is from a 4 song EP also titled "Weed & Wine", on Tinkertoo Records that I bought at the Hessler Street Fair about 1978, maybe a year or two earlier. I scanned the cover of the EP at one time, but since the hard drive fried that I had it stored on, and I have the record stored away, I can't include the image at this time. I plan to re-scan and edit this to include that soon. The LP also has "Country Soul", "Hello Cleveland", and "Oh, How I Miss You", which I hope to post also in the future.
Harvey Russell and the Rogues - Shake Sherry - 1966 - Roulette label Dan Exton 2011-05-14 | This cover of the Contours tune of the same name came out in 1966. Harvey Russell and the Rogues were a group of Akron cops that decided to cut a few records, "Shake Sherry" being their most successful and charting Top 10 in both the Akron and Cleveland, Ohio markets. The record was often introduced on the air as "Here's Akron's singing policemen ... ".I hope to update the image soon. I do have the original Roulette label 45, and ripped it as an mp3 at some time in the past, but the actual 45 is temporarily MIA somewhere in the vast quantity of boxes I have in storage, so when I can find it, I hope to scan the label for the image. It's the normal orange and yellow striped Roulette label for that time period. I put this up in a hurry as I read there's others looking to hear this on Youtube, and I don't see it up yet by anyone else.

Dennis Erectus Wreck-A-(Disco)-Record KOME Radio 1979 Shake Your Booty Dan Exton 2010-12-05 | " .. but we fixed them, didn't we? ..", legendary DJ Dennis Erectus states after playing that set of songs where he sandwiched in "Wreck A Record" and wrecked "Shake Your Booty" by KC and the Sunshine Band.. Dennis jocked on legendary KOME Radio 98.5 FM in San Jose, CA. This was from a recurring segment of his show he called "Wreck A Record", where he always wrecked a disco record. KOME played Rock. This portion was recorded by me when I lived in the Bay Area, on January 20, 1979, at about 7:05 PM PST. RIP Dennis.

KOME Xmas Spot 1978 Dan Exton 2010-11-19 | 98.5 The KOME-spot on your dial! Here's a clip from the ol' great 98 in San Jose, CA,, a Christmas jingle promoting the station, thanking for listening, and promising more good tunes in 1979. Done to the tune of The Beach Boy's "Little Saint Nick". I was living in "South City" (South San Francisco, a suburb of SF) at the time, and KOME was "my" station. The beginning first few notes of the jingle are cut off, as I must have been just pressing the record button on my cassette deck at that moment. Also best wishes to Dennis Erectus, whom I read had a bad heart attack a few years ago, and is still recovering. may you recover fully. Dennis can be considered one of the first shock jocks to grace the airwaves. His quick wit and humor was great! The other jocks at KOME were great too, Great tunes (straight up rock), and greater parodies such as "Erectus Wrecks A (Disco) Record". Pictured is one of the famous KOME decals, you would see them all over the Bay Area at the time. Some people would get several decals, cut them up, and re-assemble them to read "KOKE 98.5 PURE".
