Morrowind Modding Showcases
Morrowind Mod Testing - Azuras Coast Guild of Mages
updated
The first adds a massive seawall across the Norvayn Bay, guarding the city of Vivec from attacks by the sea, though today it mostly serves to prevent smuggling, with a single giant gate that permits vessels through to the harbors of Vivec and Ebonheart.
The second, Gates of Ascadia, provides additional fortifications along Vivec's land routes, with walls along the main road to Pelagiad, and gates going over the various bridges leading into Vivec. This also replaces a lot of the wooden bridges around Vivec with larger Velothi variants.
Both mods are incredibly scenic and immersive, providing some atmospheric new additions to the city of Vivec, and they're well worth checking out for yourself!

Home to Great House Telvanni, it is a region of magic and mystery, of cities and ruins, of adventures and perils. Yet for all that, the Azura's Coast lacks variation in the terrain, that all-important sense of verticality to give it a truly special feeling.
But that's where today's Mod of the Day comes in, for today we're showcasing Azura's Coast Redone by Markond, a landscape overhaul mod that adds new mountains, crags and cliffs, rocky ridges and stony arches to the Azura's Coast, and especially the sub-region of the Zafirbel Bay.
Mountains now ring the Bay, with new unique types of parasol mushrooms dotting the landscape, and a coastal mountain chain that borders the Molag Amur, stretching down south in a line towards Molag Mar and Tel Branora.
A dramatically beautiful panorama of verticality, Azura's Coast Redone is a simply mesmerizing mod, one that works with nearly every other mod in the Azura's Coast.
If you're looking to add some more spice to Morrowind's terrain, you should look no further, for Azuras Coast Redone is absolutely worth adding to your game!

For today's Mod of the Day is PRAY - Prayers Rituals And You by Hornsilk, a mod that adds a new gameplay mechanic for the religiously devout, allowing you to pray to your deities and call out to your gods for aid, which will grant a daily blessing in return.
Complete with four new theological skills, one each for Morrowind's four main religions, a new praying animation and new music to accompany each kind of prayer, PRAY adds a unique new role-playing experience to the game, allowing you to unlock further rituals and prayers as you improve your theological skills.
An immersive new role-playing mechanic, this is an excellent addition for your game, especially if you're playing as a religious character, and I highly recommend checking it out for yourself!

With a new quest that begins in Gnaar Mok, and a deceptively massive dungeon that'll open up the further you go down, this is another masterpiece by the master of dungeon design, combining the elements of verticality, atmosphere and detail to simply gorgeous effect.
There's quite a bit of content here, from new undead foes for you to face, to a new weapon, a cursed ancient Velothi dagger, and quite a few other treasures for you to discover. Without a doubt, this is another fantastic dungeon delve that is absolutely worth adding to your game!

The Queen of Quagmire, the Lady of Dark Portents, Vaermina is the subject of today's Mod of the Day, for today we're showcasing Daedric Shrine Overhaul Vaermina By Glittergear.
A transformation for the Daedric shrine of Kushtashpi in the northern Grazelands, this mod completely rebuilds this Daedric shrine, turning what was once a boring shrine to Molag Bal into a shrine dedicated to Vaermina, with an appearance all too suitable for the Prince of Nightmares.
With new deadly and terrifying foes to face, twisted corridors and paths to climb, and a new artifact of Vaermina to achieve, this is a deeply atmospheric dungeon-delving adventure that perfectly catches the essence of Vaermina.
If you're a fan of the Daedric Prince of Dreams and Nightmares or just of more unique dungeons in general, this is one mod you'll want to try out!

Utilizing MWSE, Pickpocket completely replaces Morrowind's old pickpocketing mechanics, offering a new quickloot menu, and new calculus for detecting and stealing items from NPCs.
Now based on your security skill, any items you detect, you'll be able to pickpocket, and the higher your security, the more items you'll be able to detect and steal successfully.
You'll still need to improve your sneak skill and remain undetected, but this greatly enhances a once overlooked mechanic in the vanilla game, and Pickpocket is easily a must-have for any thief-like characters out there, including an extensive Mod Config Menu with plenty of options for you to tweak to your liking!
It's one of the best stealth mods out there, and I highly recommend giving it a try!

But that all changes with today's Mod of the Day, for today we're showcasing Azura's Shrine Overhaul by Duo Dinamico Aka RandomPal - Vegetto, an overhaul for both the interior and exterior of the Shrine of Azura, replacing the old dark shrine with a new one, one that's bright and full of life.
A tranquil pool now sits before the grand statue of Azura, pilgrims rest and meditate around the edges, a skylight provides rays of the sun during the day and vestiges of the moons during the night.
Utterly atmospheric and scenic, this is a gorgeous and simple overhaul for this once forgotten shrine, and as one of the only overhauls for the Shrine of Azura, it makes for an excellent addition to your game!

In essence, what this mod does is fairly simple, it merely adds new, particularly tall, towers to Dwemer ruins and beacons of baleful red light to Daedric shrines, to make them stand out just a bit more, giving them increased visibility from a far way away on Morrowind's sweeping landscapes.
Not really a big mod, the changes here are nonetheless transformative, adding a beautiful and atmospheric vista of spiraling towers of machinery and ominous beams of red light to the lands of Morrowind, a scenic addition both during the day and the night.
One of the mods submitted for the 2023 Summer Modjam, Tall Dungeons has two modular components, one for the tall Dwemer towers and one for the Daedric beacons, so you can pick and choose which ones you'd like to add to your game, and while there is some room for improvement here, both are an absolute delight to behold, enhancing Morrowind's horizons with gorgeous verticality!

For today's Mod of the Day is Something in the Water -- A Peryite Daedric Quest by Glittergear and DetailDevil, a quest and dungeon mod that begins with a simple adventure into the caverns underneath Pelagiad, and ends by traveling into a realm of Oblivion, the lair of Peryite, Daedric Prince of Pestilence.
A chamber of blighted ruins, poisonous air, and crumbling decay, Peryite's realm is massive, with perilous drops of verticality and oozing pools of pulsating disease. A two-part quest, you can choose to go an errand for this Daedric deity and earn his favor, if indeed, the favor of pestilence is one you desire.

For our Mods of the Day today are Hanging Gardens of Suran and Botanical Haven - Suran Apothecary Redux by MwGek, two mods that add an explosion of color, pinks, reds, purples and blues, to the city streets of Suran!

The second overhauls the interior of the Suran Apothecary, adding tons of flora for alchemical brews, hanging potted plants, bushels of ingredients, rows of cures and remedies for every ailment, and a simply exquisite amount of detail to make this little shop come to life.

The music in today's video is from The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Soundtrack by Jeremy Soule and The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind Soundtrack by Brad Derrick.
In the vanilla game, levitation spells have a preset time limit, and often that time limit is either too short or too long. With Alteration Movement though, you can turn on levitation at any time by jumping in the air and holding down the jump key, and as long as you continue pressing down that jump key, you'll remain levitating, at least until you run out of magicka anyway.
This also works for slowfall, so you can down the sneak key at any time while in the air to instantly cast slowfall, slowing your descent back down to the ground.
Perhaps the biggest feature here though is the air jump, a fun new way to traverse the landscapes of Morrowind! With the air jump, holding down shift + the jump key while in the air will perform a double jump, sending you flying like Tarhiel up into the air, crossing vast distances in leaps and bounds.
One of the most impressive gameplay mods from the 2023 Summer Modjam, Alteration Movement is a must-have mod for finer levitation control, and with a ton of options to maintain balance with the vanilla game, I really can't recommend it enough!

A scenic vista of verticality, Tethered Tel Branora re-visualizes Tel Branora as a manifestation of Therana's eccentricities, with a large unique Telvanni tower that requires tethers to stand upright, and great spindly spires of stone jutting out of the ground.
This overhaul makes the tower of Tel Branora almost look like a spider's web from afar, appropriate given that spiders are allegedly Therana's favorite pets. Not only does this overhaul Tel Branora, but this mod also overhauls the landscape of the rest of this island, adding a chain of mountainous terrain and treacherous cliffs, giving the entire island the feel of a secluded valley.
One of the mods from the 2023 Summer Modjam, Tethered Tel Branora is a unique and alien sight, perfectly in keeping with Morrowind's alien landscapes, and an excellent addition to your game!

Or at least it did, for today's Mod of the Day is Devilish Vampire Overhaul by DetailDevil, an overhaul of the game's vampire mechanics, introducing new forms of blood drinking and vampire hunger stages.
Now you can drink the blood of your victims, instead of just casting absorb health, and doing so has a number of benefits, restoring your health, giving you a modicum of protection against the sun, and allowing you to go undetected as a vampire, so you can still interact and talk to NPCs.
On the flip side, if you go for more than 24 hours without blood, NPCs will start to notice your vampire attributes, and you'll need to wear a closed helm in order to interact with them.
Over time, should you avoid drinking blood, you'll eventually grow more powerful, gaining strength and speed, but at the expense of personality and agility, making you a formidable foe in combat, but rather inept at conversation.
A simple and easy to follow overhaul for Morrowind's vampire gameplay mechanics, Devilish Vampire Overhaul comes with both MWSE and OpenMW support, so if you're planning to play as a vampire, this is an excellent mod to check out!

Now the seas of Morrowind are impacted by the weather, storms will bring large waves, rains will cause a bit of choppy water, and clear skies will reflect a becalmed sea.
This weather also affects underwater visibility, with stormy days bringing a darker hue to underwater environments, and the further down you dive, the darker the water will get, a potential boon for vampire players looking to avoid getting burned by the sun.
A rather minor graphical improvement, Wonders of Water is a truly immersive and atmospheric experience, one that'll transform the way you view the seas of Morrowind, and one that's absolutely well worth checking out for yourself!

Utilizing the mid-sized parasol mushrooms from OAAB Data, this mod adds clusters of new mushrooms to add a little extra detail to the terrain in the Azura's Coast, Ascadian Isles, and Sheogorad regions. A fairly subtle overhaul, Mid Mushroom Overhaul is nonetheless a rather scenic experience, transforming once lonesome mushroom groves into proper fungal thickets, enhancing that alien beauty of Morrowind.

While both the quest and dungeon here are certainly quality additions, with atmospheric caverns and sewers for you to delve through, and hordes of undead for you to fight, the unquestionable highlight of this mod is a new player home, a pocket realm mansion that you can teleport to at any time.
Lavishly detailed and gorgeously furnished, this massive player home comes with all of the amenities you could possibly want, from an alchemy lab to a library, ingredient gardens, display halls, hidden vaults, a dungeon, cozy kitchen, guest quarters, and so, so much more.
Utterly atmospheric and beautifully decorated in every aspect, this is another housing mod triumph from Katya Karrel, easily one of the best player homes of 2023, and if you're looking for a richly detailed abode, you can hardly do better than Indoril Mansion!

Another minor expansion to Sadrith Mora, Of Murk and Mussels adds a new shop to the edge of the Sadrith Mora marketplace, including a market stand that sells a variety of new Anglerfish helms, stylish headpieces with an alluring bit of radiance to light your way.
The main shop is lavishly detailed, with pilfered and salvaged treasures piled high, but that's not the only thing on offer, for the owner has a quest for you to do. Seems a skiff went down with a particularly unique treasure, and should agree to investigate, you'll delve through a beautifully atmospheric new dungeon, and perhaps encounter a few twists and turns to this seemingly simple adventure along the way.

Not just a simple graphical replacer, Window to Aetherius not only replaces the night sky of Morrowind with a truly mesmerizing vista of color and light, but also adds new functionality to that night sky so that it'll change with the season, month by month.
No longer a static, fixed firmament, now the night sky will never look the same twice, with constellations appearing and disappearing depending on the season, with vast and beautiful nebulas making their way across the sky.
Now you'll be able to track the 13 birthsign constellations from the vanilla game, with each one rising to prominence during one month of the year.
Between this new functionality, and a honestly breathtakingly gorgeous new night sky, Window to Aetherius is simply the best replacer for Morrowind's nighttime vistas, and combined with The Lunar Lorkhan, a 3d replacer for the moons of Nirn, Masser and Secunda, this is, without question, the ultimate night sky for Morrowind.

And that's exactly what today's Mod of the Day does, for today we're showcasing Infectious Places by ActuallyUlysses, an immersive gameplay mod that comes with modular options to make various environments in Morrowind more dangerous, with a risk of catching various common and blighted diseases.
If you're not careful, you could get chills or brown rot by inhaling the dusty vapors of tombs, or get infected with witsbane by wading through sewers, or catch blight diseases by lingering near Sixth House shrines and bases.
Even egg mines can carry the risk of getting the droops, after all, those Kwama foragers aren't exactly sanitary. And of course, swamps will carry a risk of catching Swamp Fever.
You can protect yourself by wearing a mask or closed helm and stocking up on disease resistance spells and enchantments, but delving into these places will always carry some danger of infection, however remote.
Again, this is all modular, with tons of configuration options, so you can adjust any feature of this mod to your hearts desire.
It's honestly a really neat gameplay immersion mod, one that adds a little more difficulty to the game, and it is sorely underrated on the Nexus. I would strongly recommend checking it out and giving it an endorsement!

Now you'll encounter both male and female Corprus Stalkers, their bodies in various stages of decay, with ragged clothing, and different heads and hairs, so they don't just all look the same. Based on the work of Westly and Connary, EKM has created a truly immersive expansion to the victims of Corprus, and this is certainly a major graphical improvement over the vanilla game.

A minor quest mod, Moon Magic adds a new guild member to the Balmora - Guild of Mages, along with two new quests for to do, collecting a Lunar Talisman and gathering special moonstones from across Vvardenfell. These moonstones are typically found in dungeons associated with the Mages' Guild questline, and for each one you find, you'll learn a new moon-based spell.
This is honestly an incredibly useful collection of spells for new mage-type characters, running the gambit of magical schools, with a relatively low spell cost that even novices should be able to cast a decent amount of the time.
While this isn't a huge mod or anything, it does work as a great companion piece to the Mages' Guild, and I would strongly recommend giving it a try!

Now, when you visit the Holamayan Monastery, you'll find new Dissident Ordinators guarding the halls, a new armed faction of the Dissident Priests wearing the famed Indoril Ronin armor set. These Dissident Ordinators even have some new unique dialogue, and a mini-quest for you to go on to retrieve a new weapon.
In addition, you'll now find a new torture chamber in the Ministry of Truth, where you can discover the remains of captured Dissident Ordinators, along with a full set of gear, assuming you can fight your way past the guards.
Overall, this is an immersive new addition to the Dissident Priests that better integrates the Indoril Ronin armor set with the game-world of Morrowind, and if you'd like a stylish new armor set, along with some more lore and NPCs to go with it, you should absolutely check it out for yourself!

Now, instead of a dungeon you could probably clear out in 60 seconds or less, you'll find a massive and unique dungeon delving experience, full of new enemies for you to face, puzzles for you to solve, and new treasure for you to loot.
Beautifully detailed with lots of lovely atmospheric touches, Nchuleft is a ruin that hides many challenges, including a boss battle deep in the depths below, as well as various broken mechanisms that you'll have to repair before you can access certain parts of the ruin.
Both a fun dungeon delve and a true interactive experience, BDI - Nchuleft is a simply excellent overhaul for this once neglected ruin, and is absolutely worth playing through for yourself!

Like that previous mod, Urn Your Blings seeks to overhaul the type of loot you can get from urns inside ancestral tombs, adding just a bit more for you to find besides the same old boring bonemeal. Unlike Loot Well Urned though, this is more strictly balanced, the vast, vast majority of urns you'll find will still only have bonemeal or occasionally grave dust.
In maybe 10% of urns, you'll find additional common clothing accessories and other cheap bits of loot, and about 1% of the time, you might find a valuable gem or enchanted item.
For those looking for a more balanced and vanilla-friendly alternative to Loot Well Urned, Urn Your Bling makes looting urns a worthwhile endeavor, while keeping the loot more in line with the treasure you'd typically expect to find in the vanilla ancestral tombs. It's absolutely worth checking out if balanced loot is your priority!

A deeply atmospheric new dungeon with a fantastic new outfit to loot, today's Mod of the Day is The Plague Doctor by Ruffin Vangarr and Katya Karrel, which adds a new adventure for you to go on just north of Seyda Neen.

A landscape overhaul, The Mountain of Fear transforms Mount Kand into a proper mountain, with rocky ridges, pillars of stone, and actual mountainous peaks for you to climb. Along the way, you'll see the banners, lanterns, and other religious symbols of the Dunmer, directing pilgrims to the summit.
Not only does this overhaul the terrain of Mount Kand, but this also overhauls the caverns underneath, giving you a truly atmospheric experience when you're playing through the Tribunal Temple questline.
All in all, this is another fantastic verticality-inducing landscape mod by Kalinter, and one that's well-worth adding to your game!

That, of course, is where today's Mod of the Day comes in, for today we're showcasing OAAB Greater Samarys by Varlothen, an expansion and overhaul of the Samarys Ancestral Tomb. Now the Mentor's Ring is hidden, and you'll not only have to face undead foes to win this treasure, but also keep a careful eye and look for secret passageways.
This is a sizable, but not massive, expansion to Samarys, that can still be completed at level one with a bit of luck, it just gives you a more unique and exciting experience to discover the Mentor's Ring!

A slight expansion to the Sadrith Mora marketplace, Of Musk and Mer adds a new shop to Sadrith Mora, alongside some new market stalls, but the primary focus of this mod is a new dungeon-delving adventure for you to go on. It seems the owner of this Telvanni bug musk shop has had a run-in with a graverobber, one that's defiled his family's ancestral tomb, and he needs you to investigate and find the culprit.
What follows is an adventure through a truly gorgeously detailed ancestral tomb, masterfully crafted with tons of environmental-storytelling, providing you with a truly unique dungeon-delving experience.
