I use one new character for each Grand Prix.Super Mario Kart Ft. Retro HD and Friends is a recently updated Super Mario Kart rom hack featuring a lot of brand new tracks, all in the style of the Mario Circuit stages, and four new raceable characters.There are a lot of very interesting ideas in this hack and I found it very enjoyable. I did find some of the new tracks almost impossible to play with heavy characters, and sometimes I found it hard to see where I was supposed to go with the new color scheme and track designs. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 - Full Sega Genesis Playthrough - Improved Version RetroGame.Stream 2022-08-18 | It was only 8 years ago I uploaded the first Sonic 2 Playthrough video to my channel. At the time I was experimenting with some things I don't like now and the original video got a hefty amount of criticism, much of it warranted.So I now present this improved playthrough of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Changes include higher resolution (1080p), YouTube does 60fps now, and no border or filters. In addition to these quality changes, I also changed how I play through the game. I no longer spam Super Sonic, I get the last emerald much later in the game and only showcase Super Sonic for a small section of the game. I explore and take my time time through the levels a bit more. Now people can enjoy the great music present in Sonic 2 and spend a little bit more time with this beloved game.I hope this goes a long way to addressing the original video's flaws. That might give off that it's not "professional" per-se, and to be sure it's rough around the edges in places. That being said, there is a lot of fun to be had here. For as little time as they spent on it there is a good variety from familiar stages with a twist to fully new levels. The difficulty ramp is pretty good, but uneven at times. It's a good size as well, a few worlds, some shorter than others.Overall I think it could use some polish here and there but it's a very good effort for a few people doing the whole thing in a day. This is because I heavily used save states (cheated) to get desired cards or a better outcome from a previous roll. I did this so I could actually complete the game in a single video without needing to replay any of the courses. This means I didn't take advantage of lining up the "chance" cards for money bonuses and will occasionally make what looks like real bad moves in other aspects of gameplay, but which pay out a few moves ahead.It appears that once a street starts all of the rolls are locked in. Even when I would go back several rolls for a different outcome later, all players would roll the same number but would, sometimes, make different decisions. Lastly, this is a partially translated version of the Japanese only original. In this state the translation is very playable. Huge thanks to the translator who is credited below. Awesome Golf Japanese Course - Atari Lynx RetroGame.Stream 2022-06-12 | Here is the full 18 hole Japanese golf course from Awesome Golf on the Atari Lynx. This ended up being a fun time. The pointing of each shot is clunky and there seems to be no wind mechanic in the game, but actually shooting a shot is nice compared to other similar golf games from the generation. I enjoyed this one and will do the other two courses for sure.
E.V.O.: Search for Eden - Full SNES Playthrough RetroGame.Stream 2022-03-15 | E.V.O is an interesting side scrolling action rpg about evolution. You play a creature that evolves through different eras of time as a challenge that, if beaten, lets you live in Eden with Gaia.It's funny, as a kid playing this, I never got far enough to learn the interesting story twist.As far as gameplay goes, the hit detection is a bit wonky and controlling your character is a little clunky, but not so bad that it ruins the game. I'm not a big fan of the music. Some of the tracks are alright, but the samples they're using became grating to me. Graphically it's alright and always interesting when you evolve your character to see how they had to work all the different parts of the character together.
Final Fantasy VI Intro Comparison 1994 SNES vs. 2022 Pixel Remaster RetroGame.Stream 2022-02-27 | There was a fair bit of interest for the 2015 vs. 2022 video I made a few days ago and someone in the comments asked if there would be a SNES vs. Remaster video. Well it just made sense to do one so I'm happy to oblige.It may be worth noting I synced the intros to the music and not the video so switching the audio between the two wouldn't be jarring. I was surprised at how little adjustment either needed to sync up and that the video was still generally in line with each other. Seems Square Enix paid pretty close attention to the original when planning and arranging the Pixel Remaster.

After upgrading our crew we face off against some pirates. Once defeated, the captain offers us his boat so as not to get fully whooped upon.
Final Fantasy I Pixel Remaster 002 - Defeating Garland RetroGame.Stream 2021-07-29 | In this episode we make it to the Chaos Shrine where we eventually defeat Garland.Also in this episode I come across my first real issue with the game. For some reason my controller inputs would go off an on, stuttering my movement and keeping me from dashing or getting anywhere easily. I really hope this doesn't become the norm. There was no trace of this issue in the first session, so hopefully it's a fluke. It kept this session very short.
Final Fantasy I Pixel Remaster 001 - The Beginning RetroGame.Stream 2021-07-28 | Well Square Enix has begun rolling out their pixel remastered versions of their first 6 Final Fantasy games. I know these have gotten some flack for their art style, especially the 16-bit games where people think they shouldn't have "fixed" what wasn't broken. I, for one, don't mind the art style and was more concerned with performance controls as we all know how bad some of the mobile first Square rpgs can be.I'll say this. Right now I'm more or less pleased with it. They are still using a weirdly regular font which, to me, really clashes with the rest of the art style. Also some of the scrolling looks a little choppy and I noticed some screen tearing with no graphical options to fix it.That being said, I think the game overall looks great and feels pretty good. I'm already very happy that I can auto-battle my grinding here at the beginning. I think the music I've heard so far is very nice sounding. Dashing, buying weapons and armor, map and minimap, and all the other small quality of life changes are a big positive for me already. I'm really looking forward to exploring this game.In this first episode I just begin the game. We see the opening short bit of story, I buy equipment and items, and grind a few levels out so in the next episode it's straight to Garland. At least that's the idea.

We get the stamp pretty easily, but the the Flame Beast was just to powerful to tackle when we first encounter it. Some grinding and upgrading later, we best the beast and recover the third stamp.
