Norah and I first met onstage at the soundcheck for Willie Nelson’s 90th Birthday at Hollywood Bowl when he invited us to sing “Seven Spanish Angels” together at the last minute. She played the role of Ray Charles, I did my best Willie. My hidden inner child did backflips. I’ll never forget Willie & Annie driving by on a golf cart during our soundcheck and Willie calling out “Sounds great girls!”

I got up the courage to ask Norah to sing “Really Real” with me the day I got to guest on her fabulous Playing Along Pod (our episode is out now ❤️‍🔥) and she said yes! The first time I publicly shared that I’m a Survivor of over a decade of severe CSA enacted by my American-Expat-White-Supremacist-Adoptive-Father-old-enough-to-be-my-Grandfather. Eventually I charged him & eventually, he pled guilty — because other women he’d abused came forward. He served a light sentence.

My heart breaks for all the Survivors who have not had the partial relief of any kind of accountability or closure.

My heart rages for all of us as we bear the unbearable violent depredations of war-mongering rapists & child abusers unhinged destructive tyrannies — in defiance of International Humanitarian Law & Human Decency.

Cycles of Abuse CAN be broken.

Bigotry & Bias & Greed CAN be unlearned.

We are not doomed to do what was done to us.

We are more than the Sum of our Scars.

No Shame.

The shame is not ours.

Secrets & Lies always come to light.

Every revelation signifies another crack in the Wall of corrupt exploitative patriarchal systems. That Wall will come tumbling down. It always does.

We are strong enough to face our violating past & present— strong enough & determined enough to course-correct.

Harm Reduction is Hope & Love in Action.
We can be better than we’ve been.

To the World We Dream About ; a World where it is Celebrated & held Sacred that *All Children are Our Children* — a World where *we* are *ALL* loved, valued, cherished & protected equally.
