1337 Sentry Placement on Small City Map | #helldivers2 Krig | Space Cadet 2025-09-28 | In Helldivers 2, maps with small cities have entrances with an oddly shaped building, and can be present on Illuminate, Terminid, and Automaton fronts. This strangely shaped building is great for sentry deployment. However, stratagem balls will not stick directly to the roof. To get around this, throw your stratagem ball on the ground underneath the building. The stratagem ball will activate just outside the perimeter of the roof, but the hellpod will clip the roof on the way down, deploying on top. But things will change with the update "Into the Unjust" in Helldivers 2. Sound will become very important in the Deep, dark cave-like Terminid hive worlds in the Gloom. Blinded by the lack of light, enemies will only have sound to alert them to the righteous fury of a squad of Helldivers. The new SMG and sidearm are suppressed, and the new armor has decreased sound profile from walking and climbing. The How-To Commando Guide | Helldivers 2 Krig | Space Cadet 2025-07-31 | The Commando is a support weapon capable of taking out nearly any enemy in Helldivers 2 without much difficulty, but in a convenient, portable package. The relatively short cooldown and zero bullet drop make it a versatile weapon that can flex up handle factory striders. The lower damage rockets can stretch the ammo economy further than EATs, giving you the choice to expend fewer rockets for great economy, or fire more rockets to handle heavies in a flash.The commando is not as good on the Squid front, due to limited target opportunities. On Bots, the Commando really shines in the target rich environment, destroying most heavies as well as many side objectives. Particularly good against AA guns as well as mortar emplacements, but is also able to snipe fabricators. Advanced Sentry Tactics in Helldivers, Part 2 Krig | Space Cadet 2025-06-28 | Focusing on better placement of sentries, by facing them towards the enemy. Sentries deploy "facing" the way the stratagem ball lands. Typically, this is the way it was thrown, but if the stratagem ball bounces, can change to the direction it bounces. The Rocket and Autocannon sentries can sometimes perform worse in close combat, due to the rocket stopping firing if an enemy is very close, and the autocannon potentially blowing itself up by firing at nearby enemies. Recoil Sim is TRICKING YOU | Helldivers 2 Krig | Space Cadet 2025-06-19 | The recoil sim uses a "best fit" which helps show changes you have made using the weapon customizations like the vertical and angled foregrip attachments. However, this makes comparisons between weapons difficult, as the scale is not consistent. The recoil of the Knight and Reprimand appear similar in the recoil sim. However, when normalized for vertical and horizontal recoil, mag size, and RPM, it becomes very obvious that the Knight has a much better recoil, firing twice as many bullets while still having lower total recoil. This is because the maximum vertical recoil of the Knight is 18, while the Reprimand's is 48, allowing the Knight to continuously fire more than twice the number of shells while having less total recoil.The "best fit" is based upon the greatest (most) amount of recoil possible for the weapon. Typically, this will be vertical recoil. Ensure weapon customizations are all tailored to make the vertical recoil as bad as possible, take screenshots or video. Divide the lower recoil by the higher recoil, then shrink the weapon with the lower recoil by that percentage. The first step is to be slightly higher in elevation than the hulk, so that the arc of the stratagem ball is on the way down. A roughly upwards facing surface is much more likely to stick, so aim for the shoulders of the hulk, not the faceplate. Halt ammo swap 1-touch keybind with Autocannon compatibility in Helldivers 2 Krig | Space Cadet 2025-04-04 | Binding the Halt Shotgun is very easy to allow easy Ammo tube changes from flechette to stun shells. With a simple modification to your keybindings, weapons like the Autocannon (flak or APHET) and the Recoilless Rifle (HE and HEAT) can be made to swap programmable ammo types as well, making programming your ammunition easy and quicker than the default open weapon wheel and using mouse buttons.Please note, support weapons will swap both options on the weapon wheel when you do this, so Autocannon will swap flak/aphet AND semi/auto with a long press. While the basic Guard Dog is sporting an AP3 Liberator Penetrator, the Guard Dog Rover can apply an AP 4 Fire DoT that deals damage to the main HP pool of enemies. The Dog Breath, or "Stink Bug," deals little direct damage, but confuses enemies and applies the AP 6 Gas DoT. WASP for mediums, Spear for heavies [Helldivers 2] Krig | Space Cadet 2025-03-08 | Spear and W.A.S.P. have similar targeting mechanics in Helldivers 2. However, the spear functions as dedicated heavy and spawner clear that is able to close bug holes and fabricators unidirectionally. The WASP is able to target medium and large enemies, as well as handle fabricators, but requires weak spot his to effectively destroy most heavies, but also deals excellent damage to nearby smaller enemies. The Bile Titan and factory strider are particularly ammo-intensive for the WASP, while the spear is able to handle these enemies in 1 to 2 shots. It is good in certain situations, and burns brightest in maps that have cover to prevent it from being destroyed by ranged attacks. Enemies funneled into the flame sentry's 20m range will be confronted by a gouts of fire and an AP4 DoT. The Flame sentry is technically able to destroy most enemies within its range, but should be guarded around chargers, hulks. Thermite Grenade 101 - Helldivers 2 Krig | Space Cadet 2025-02-22 | Thermite grenades are a great supplement to any build that lacks heavy armor penetration or just needs another option for heavy clear. It's most useful on automatons because it is also able to destroy fabricators from any angle. Currently, thermite is underperforming on the Illuminate front because it doesn't reliably stick to Harvesters. It can now also destroy warp ship spawners on the Illuminate front. (EDIT: Bug with Thermite was fixed - does it stick to harvesters now?)On Terminids, the G-123 makes short work of chargers, can one-shot the impaler, but takes multiple thermites to kill bile titans. Best Grenade is Gas Grenade Krig | Space Cadet 2025-02-11 | The Gas Grenade is likely the most versatile grenade in Helldivers 2, and is by far the best addition from the Chemical Agents Warbond. It Crowd Controls and damages enemies, and is able to close bot fabricators, bug holes, spawners. While the Gas grenade and stun grenade both provide crowd control, the gas grenade's neurotoxin causes enemies to become confused, moving and attacking randomly, while stun grenade only disables for a short period of time. What makes the gas grenade more versatile is that it also applies a small damage over time effect, and has the utility to close enemy spawners. The Stun grenade does not close fabricators, bug holes, or Illuminate warp ships.The Demolition of the gas grenade also enables it to clear some objectives, like the Illegal broadcast tower as well, though ranged weapons are likely a better choice, overall. Medium enemies, like the hulk and charger will succumb to the neurotoxin gas, causing them to expose weak points that you may then exploit. You should help kill chaff with the Recoilless Krig | Space Cadet 2025-01-31 | For ease of use, continue to use HEAT ammunition with the Recoilless Rifle. However, being able to discern when to use HE ammunition can help stretch your team's ammo economy by eliminating more enemies. When there is a clear shot to a weak spot, like an automaton heatsink, hulk eye, impaler forehead, or and charger torso, using HE ammo can stagger or kill nearby smaller enemies with a much larger and more damaging explosion. Skilled users will be able to switch back and forth between HE and HEAT ammunition. Unidirectional fabricator clear will still necessitate the use of HEAT ammo, as will the largest of enemies. In most cases, its better than APHET ammo for single target elimination, aside when the AP4 is needed. If you can hit weak points with indirect fire, it will allow you to start damaging enemies sooner. A good example of this is the terminid Impaler, which you can start from any angle, and hit prior to tentacle deployment if you shoot underneath, causing it blast shrapnel into its fleshy underbelly. While dropping hellpods on the head of the dog might not be the most optimal way, it IS a way to make unused support weapons hellpods to good use! The hellpod itself is a fantastic way to deal damage to slow enemies like the Impaler, Factory strider, as well as close automaton fabricators and bug holes. Unfortunately, hellpods will not activate underneath illuminate warp ships. Red stratagems will though!I'm not saying its the best way to do it. Reliable Damage vs (lots) of lucky hits [Helldivers 2] Krig | Space Cadet 2024-12-03 | The Orbital Airburst and Gatling Barrage are both useful and have low cooldowns. Use these stratagems to fill gaps in your loadout and destroy enemies at chokepoints.The gatling barrage is lower cooldown and higher armor penetration, but the damage is not consistent across the AoE. The Airburst has a much more consistent dispersal of ordnance, but has a lower armor penetration, making it better at clearing smaller enemies, but still able to damage exposed weak points.The Gatling barrage's length makes it work well against bug breaches, while the Airburst's spike damage works against the relatively more compressed deployment from a bot drop. Rocket Pods are Better than you remember [Helldivers 2] Krig | Space Cadet 2024-11-08 | The orbital railcannon strike is great for single target elimination, but the rocket pods allow you to use less dedicated AT weapons, opening up many build options.Both Railcannon and Rocket Pods are good for supporting team mates being chased by a heavies. The precision of both makes them fairly safe to throw nearby other helldivers, compared to most other Eagle stratagems. Other Eagle Stratagems may do a better job of eliminating enemies, but are much more dangerous to fellow helldivers. Helldivers 2 Krig | Space Cadet 2024-10-25 | Eagle-1's Airstrike and Strafing run are good for different things.The Eagle Airstrike and Strafing run are both good at closing spawners, but the airstrike is much better at terminids, while the strafing run excels in bots. Airstrike handles heavies better than strafing run, generally, but requires you to get closer to them to make the throw.The Commando is a support weapon capable of taking out nearly any enemy in Helldivers 2 without much difficulty, but in a convenient, portable package. The relatively short cooldown and zero bullet drop make it a versatile weapon that can flex up handle factory striders. The lower damage rockets can stretch the ammo economy further than EATs, giving you the choice to expend fewer rockets for great economy, or fire more rockets to handle heavies in a flash.The commando is not as good on the Squid front, due to limited target opportunities. On Bots, the Commando really shines in the target rich environment, destroying most heavies as well as many side objectives. Particularly good against AA guns as well as mortar emplacements, but is also able to snipe fabricators.
