In this review he explains why the PRO is his choice when waves get bigger, more powerful, and more hollow, and how the refined narrow pin tail and slightly longer shape make it easier to paddle into serious waves and fit into the pocket on steeper faces. He covers the Thruster and Quad fin options and how each changes the ride, why he prefers the Thruster for its rail-to-rail transitions, and how the Quad adds drive and release off the top. He also points out the volume carried forward toward the nose, giving front-to-back stability so the nose stays up as you step into your power stance. He's on the 7'3" at 75L, in conditions like Sunset Beach and events like the Da Hui Backdoor Shootout.

In this review he explains why the PRO suits the conditions he loves most, overhead and bigger waves, and how the longer, narrower shape lets him catch waves easily and move rail to rail with a smooth, easy transition. He walks through the round pin tail and the Thruster and Quad fin options, and why he rides it in the Quad setup for extra drive and hold in the wave. He also covers the size he's on, the 7'3" x 23.5" at 75L, how the low weight changes the ride, and why this is the board he reaches for when the lineup is big, powerful, and demands a lot of paddling to stay in position.
Watch to hear why the new Starboard PRO drives through big-wave sections like a knife.

In this review Camille covers the two sizes in the range, the 7'3" x 23.5" and the 7'6" x 24.5", and when to reach for each one: the 7'6" for a thick wetsuit and choppy waves, the 7'3" for warm water and bigger summer surf. Camille explains why the PRO carries so much speed, how the thin rails and Thruster fin setup make it easy to turn, and why it handles radical maneuvers across big and small waves alike.
Watch to hear why the new Starboard PRO is the board Camille enjoys most in the water.

The Pro range is built to push SUP surfing at the top level, from intermediate riders advancing their skills to world champions like Benoit Carpentier and Zane Schweitzer. Think of it as your progressive shortboard: a narrow nose that tucks tight into the pocket, less swing weight through maneuvers, and less chance of catching a rail in critical turns.
π How it rides
The refined shape is geared toward big waves without giving up small-wave versatility. The pulled-in tail grips and holds through turns to set up big top turns, and it fits into the pocket on steep drops to generate speed more easily. In smaller surf, the narrower outline keeps it quick and easy to turn.
Tested in Bali by Benoit Carpentier, Zane Schweitzer, Riki, and Ilya across critical hollow surf and softer, mushier conditions.
π Sizes and construction
Eight sizes, from 7'3" x 23.5" (75 L) to 9'2" x 29.75" (144 L)
Construction: Carbon Reflex and Xtec Carbon

It merges two proven shapes: the Velocity's higher-cadence stroke and the Enduro's stable teardrop blade. The result is a paddle that's easier on your body, so you can paddle longer with more energy left. A pure SUP surf paddle for extended sessions, and a great first all-round cruising paddle too.
Available in S / M / L, in two constructions:
Prepreg Carbon, our lightest and most responsive blade.
Carbon, a full 3K carbon blade at great value.
Less force. More flow.

Developed with and ridden by Starboard's top team athletes, the New Pro is made for maximum commitment. A reshaped outline and refined thin rails deliver the grip, speed, and control that give riders total confidence when the wave gets serious.
π Why the Pro performs
Narrow pin tail: hold, drive, and control in critical sections and barrel riding
Single to double concave: lift and speed, then quick rail-to-rail response
Slight vee in the tail: smooth transitions and clean carving at speed
Five fin setup: 4+1 and 2+1 options to tune drive, hold, and looseness

What stood out to him most: no matter the wave size, big or small, the TallTwin kept the speed and turning feel of a much smaller board. It's a little slower than a true small board, and the swing weight is slightly higher, but the trade off comes with real gains in turning speed and control.
What you'll learn in this video:
β How the 108L TallTwin compares directly to the Longboard
β Why it keeps the speed and feel of a smaller board in bigger waves
β How it performs in smaller waves too
β What the swing weight trade off actually feels like on the water
If you want an honest, direct comparison between the TallTwin and the Longboard from an experienced waterman, this review lays it out clearly.

Coming from the Longboard, which shares similar dimensions, Paul explains how the TallTwin's rail shape and fin setup completely change the feel of the board. From his very first turn, he noticed how much further and faster the board snapped around a carve. He also talks about why this matters for surfers in places like the UK, where smaller boards are often needed for performance, but come at the cost of catching waves and balance.
What you'll learn in this video:
Why the TallTwin feels looser than its dimensions suggest
β How the rail shape and fins change the way the board turns
β Why it suits surfers who want performance without sacrificing stability
β Who this board is really built for
If you want a board that gives you the glide and volume of a longboard, but the loose, high-performance feel of a smaller board, this review explains why the TallTwin might be exactly that.

In this review, Camille compares the TallTwin to the classic Longboard, breaking down how the twin fin tail lets the board slide through the middle of a turn, making it easier to finish big carves without pushing hard on the back foot. She also shares how it holds up in both big and small waves, and where it stands if nose riding and cross stepping are more your style.
What you'll learn in this video:
β Why the TallTwin makes carving and finishing turns easier
β How it compares to the Longboard for stability and drive
β How it performs in both big and small waves
β What to expect if you like to nose ride or cross step

Filmed in Bali, Pete explains the story behind the TallTwin: how last year's TwinFin, loved by surfers everywhere, has now been merged with the Longboard SUP to create something new. The result is a board that surfs like a longboard, smooth and fluent through turns, but with the looseness and playfulness of a TwinFin.
He also talks about the Nubster fin, and how popping it in or taking it out mid session changes the feel of the board, from tight and controlled to loose and playful.
What you'll learn in this video:
β How the TallTwin blends the Longboard SUP and TwinFin designs
β Why stepping down to a shorter board like 29'9" doesn't mean losing performance
β How the Nubster fin changes the board's feel
β Who this board is really built for, from progressive surfers to those who just want a smooth, cruisy glide
Whether you're looking to step down from a longer board without losing stability, or want a longboard that can hold its own with looser, more playful turns, Pete Cox's review breaks down why the TallTwin might be the missing piece in your quiver.

THE BOARD
The Touring inflatable is built to go further. The wider nose and squarer tail hold their line in side chop and moderate wind. Rail Edge Technology releases water cleanly at the tail and cuts drag, so the glide stays smooth when the paddle strokes get long.
Deluxe Lite construction with Woven Dropstitch makes it up to 2 kg lighter than regular inflatable construction, and stiffer at the same time. Roll Technology packs it into a 33% smaller roll bag, which is how a board this size ends up on a Scottish beach at sunrise.
Five sizes, 12'6" x 28" to 14'0" x 32", for riders up to 135 kg.

Last year, Starboard supported World Cleanup Day events in Myanmar and Thailand, working closely with local teams through our Plastic Offset Program. In Napoli, Myanmar, volunteers came together to clean beaches, sort plastic waste, and raise awareness about sustainable practices and self-responsibility.
By removing trash from the shoreline, we are not only cleaning beaches β we are protecting marine life, creating safer coastal environments, and supporting long-term positive change. All collected plastic is carefully sorted, recycled where possible, and responsibly disposed of. In a country where recycling remains a challenge, reusing and reducing waste is a key focus of our efforts.
World Environmental Day is more than a single event. Itβs about community, education, and lasting impact β for people and for the planet.

In this tip, Michael Booth shares 3 common paddling mistakes β and how to fix them.
Mistake 1:
Paddling too far past your feet
β Feels powerful, but slows you down
β Fix: Release just after your heels
Mistake 2:
Pushing the top hand forward too early
β Leads to lifting at the back of the stroke
β Fix: Enter the water first, then pull
Mistake 3:
Leaning to one side while paddling
β Causes your board to track off line
β Fix: Keep weight balanced 50/50
Clean technique = more speed with less effort.
Which mistake have you made? π

In this final tip, Michael Booth explains why choosing the right SUP board is more important than most paddlers think.
Key takeaways:
β All-round boards work best in real race conditions
β Stability = consistent power and better performance
β Dugout designs improve control and balance
β Donβt just go narrow β choose what you can handle
Real races arenβt perfect:
Flat water can quickly turn into chop, wakes, and turbulence.
Thatβs why a stable board often wins over a faster but less stable one.
The goal:
Choose a board you can paddle at 90% effort for the entire race.
Confidence = speed.

In this tip, Michael Booth explains how a vertical catch and clean recovery improve your efficiency and tracking.
At the catch:
β Reach forward and stack your body
β Keep the paddle as vertical as possible
β Align the blade to maximize propulsion
During recovery:
β Keep your top hand high
β Follow a straight line up from your shin
β Use small, controlled movements
Avoid this mistake:
β’ Dropping your top hand too low
β This creates a βJ strokeβ and pushes your board off line
Clean technique = straighter tracking and more speed.
Have you noticed this in your stroke? π

In this tip, Michael Booth explains how proper stance and leg movement improve stability and power in long-distance SUP.
Start with your stance:
β Feet parallel, shoulder-width apart
β Knees slightly bent
β Weight balanced (not too far forward)
Key technique:
β Keep knees behind toes
β Hinge from the hips (like a deadlift)
β Stay relaxed β donβt grip with your toes
β Never fully lock your legs
Movement:
β’ Shift weight smoothly forward and back
β’ Keep the board flat and stable
β’ Maintain control through the whole stroke
Good leg work = better balance, more control, and efficient power.

In this tip, Michael Booth explains how to use your top hand and body position for a stronger stroke.
Key focus: the front half of the stroke.
β Keep a βtriangleβ shape with your arms
β Reach forward and catch the water early
β Drive down with the top hand
β Keep the bottom arm relatively straight
β Accelerate through the front of the stroke
Important:
β’ Hold the water β donβt pull through it
β’ Release just past your heels
β’ Stay smooth and controlled
Itβs all about clean technique, good cadence, and efficient movement.

In this tip, Michael Booth explains how proper hand position improves your power and efficiency.
Top hand:
β Apply pressure through the palm
β Keep fingers relaxed, not tight
Bottom hand:
β Maintain a loose grip
β Avoid gripping too hard or too soft
Key checks:
β’ If your pinky lifts off β youβre reaching too far
β’ If you grip too tight β you lose stroke efficiency
Hand positioning:
β Aim for ~90Β° at both elbows
β Bottom hand about one hand-length down the shaft
Balance is everything:
Too low = more pull, less top-hand power
Too high = more push, less control
Find your balance and stay relaxed for a smoother, more efficient stroke.

Before the race, control your setup:
β Sleep and recovery
β Hydration and nutrition
β Warm-up routine
β Equipment and board setup
β Start line positioning
During the race:
Things wonβt go perfectly β and thatβs normal.
Focus on adapting, staying calm, and moving forward.

β’ Other competitors
β’ Conditions
β’ Unexpected problems

In this SUP tip, Michael Booth explains how shaft flex affects your power, comfort, and efficiency on the water.
Hereβs how to think about it:
β Stiffer shafts = instant power transfer (great for sprinting)
β Softer shafts = more flex, easier on the body for long distances
β Taller paddlers often use stiffer shafts
β Shorter paddlers may benefit from more flex
From Michaelβs experience:
A medium flex offers the best balance between power and control for distance paddling.
Also keep in mind:
Older paddles become more flexible over time.
Thereβs no perfect setup. Test different flexes and find what feels efficient and comfortable for your style.

In this SUP tip, Michael Booth explains how paddle blade size affects your power, cadence, and overall efficiency.
From his experience:
β Bigger blade = more power at the catch
β Smaller blade = higher cadence, less load
β XL blades work well for strong, front-end paddlers
β L blades are more common for distance paddling
β Sprinting: bigger blade can give more acceleration
Blade shape also matters:
β’ Rounded edges = smoother release
β’ More scoop (concave) = better control
β’ Flatter blades = easier to lose grip in the water
Thereβs no perfect size. It depends on your technique, strength, and stroke rate.

In this SUP tip, Michael Booth shares a lesson learned the hard way after losing control of his paddle during a race finish.
Grip matters more than you think β especially in heat, long distances, or high-pressure moments.
β Use grip tape, wax, or tennis wrap
β Adapt to conditions (heat, sweat, cold)
β Distance paddlers: grip mainly on the shaft
β Sprinters: consider grip higher up
β Cold climates: less grip may be needed
Control the controllables. Small details can decide the race.
