The center block of Ruby's Garden Block of the Month is a string pieced star which uses templates, string piecing, setting triangles, and setting squares. Jenny shows how to cut the quarter square setting triangles, then gives a refresher on string piecing with a foundation. She points out how she marked the diamond template on the foundation before string piecing, and shows how to trim the diamond to size once it's pieced. Once the diamonds are cut out, they and the setting triangles are pieced together with a y-seam, which Jenny demonstrates. Those units are then pieced together with setting squares, which Jenny also demonstrates.
