This was probably the craziest day of my life. We left the hut of Fredheim 11 minutes before a polar bear attack occurred (https://www.svalbardposten.no/isbjornhendelse-ved-fredheim/564565). I was the one carrying the weapon in our group and would have been the one shooting the bear had we left a few minutes later. We went up the cliffs, to the place in that video, safe and sounds, minutes away from a dramatic situation. Completely unaware of the situation, we drove down an hour later and found polar bear tracks, a helicopter flying over us, landing, asking us question, and flying away. We drove further into Adventdalen, on our way home, and spotted the bear ~1km to the east of us. During the attack, it was unclear whether the bear was shot or not, a hurt bear is a dying bear and the procedure is to kill them to reduce their pain. The helicopter was after the bear to figure this out. We found no blood in the tracks and no limping, the bear was actually unharmed. I will probably make a whole explanatory video about this, given the number of details that I wanna remember, and that may be relevant to others.
The solve was done on Fjordnibba, over Tempelfjorden, at the coordinates: 78.36906°N 17.00698°E
As far as I know, this is the second northernmost solve every recorded, hopefully I will do better soon though!
