The Accompanist - Musical Theatre Piano Karaoke
WITHOUT A BELIEVER By Jeremy Jordan (cut from WAITRESS) Piano Accompaniment in D [Karaoke in CC]
updated
Another Suitcase in Another Hall is a song from the musical Evita with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber first produced in 1978.
Lyrics :
I don't expect my love affairs to last for long
Never fool myself that my dreams will come true
Being used to trouble Ianticipate it
But all the same I hate it, wouldn't you
So what happens now
(Another suitcase in another hall)
So what happens now
(Take your picture off another wall)
Where am I going to
(You'll get by you always have before)
Where am I going to
Time and time again I've said that I don't care
That I'm immune to gloom, that I'm hard through and through
But every time it matters all my words desert me
So anyone can hurt me and they do
So what happens now
(Another suitcase in another hall)
So what happens now
(Take your picture off another wall)
Where am I going to
(You'll get by you always have before)
Where am I going to
Call in three months time and I'll be fine I know
Well maybe not that fine but I'll survive anyhow
I won't recall the names and places of the sad occasion
But that's no consolation here and now
So what happens now
(Another suitcase in another hall)
So what happens now
(Take your picture off another wall)
Where am I going to
(You'll get by you always have before)
Where am I going to
(Don't ask anymore)
The Accompanist has created a collection of Piano Accompaniments of Musical Theatre and Popular music songs.
These Broadway and West End accompaniments have been specifically performed to match the tempos of the original (cast) recordings where possible. These karaoke style tracks have been created to give the audition performer the sound of what is likely within an audition environment where often we are not faced with a full orchestra but simply a pianist. Therefore the songs can sound very different to the fully orchestrated version.
The tracks are designed to be used either in performance or as practice for auditions. You are more than welcome to use the track to create your own YouTube cover of the song. If you could put a link back to this video in your description that would be amazing of you. I'm creating a playlist on my channel page of covers using The Accompanist's tracks so let me know if you do a cover using it and I'll add it to this channel's covers playlist.

The lyrics of Amazing Grace were written by John Newton whilst the music is an Amercian folk hymn.
Lyrics :
Amazing Grace how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
‘Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

The song Poor, Unsuccessful and Fat is written by William Finn.
In this version I have used the 'Songbook' version which works mainly as a solo, this doesn't have the ending from the original recording where it breaks into various people, the design of this track is that it can be used in a solo environment.
Lyrics :
[RICHARD]
Poor, unsuccessful and fat
Who would’ve thought I would end like that?
Surely, in no time, you’ll be back to normalIn your evening formal
I’ll be poor, unsuccessful
Poor, unsuccessful and fat
And getting older
Plus, have you noticed I sweat?
I have a list of things I regret
Don’t tell this story to little children
Cause you're gonna scare them
How I’m poor, unsuccessful
Poor, unsuccessful and fat
And getting older, getting greyer
Stop me if you’ve heard this before
Cause if you’ve heard this before
Hell, it’s just more of the same
Help meI’m a player
Who’ll never make it
I won’t make, I won’t make it[
GORDON]
No, no, no, no, no, no!
[RICHARD]
Once I was practically thin
Now I can eat like I’m Rin Tin Tin
Soon you’ll be back home
A success in training
I’ll be here complaining
That I’m poor, unsuccessful
Poor, unsuccessful and fat
And getting older
I'm getting older
I'm getting older
I'm getting old.

Where is Love? is a song created by Lionel Bart for his musical Oliver.
This piano accompaniment is in Db Major and follows the film version of the song for format and tempos.
Lyrics :
[Oliver]
Where is love?
Does it fall from skies above?
Is it underneath the willow tree
That I've been dreaming of?
Where is she?
Who I close my eyes to see?
Will I ever know the sweet hello
That's meant for only me?
Who can say where she may hide?
Must I travel far and wide?
Til I am beside the someone who
I can mean something to
Where, Where is love?
Who can say where she may hide?
Must I travel far and wide?
Til I am beside the someone who
I can mean something to
Where, Where is love?

Memory is a song from the musical CATS whose music was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with text from Trevor Nunn after T.S. Eliot.
This accompaniment is based on the 1982 London recording featuring Elaine Paige, you can hear the original here : youtube.com/watch?v=5vLwwvUiD8c&ab_channel=AndrewLloydWebber-Topic
Lyrics :
Midnight, not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory?
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight,
the withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan
Memory, all alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days
I was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again
Every street lamp seems to beat
A fatalistic warning
Someone mutters and the street lamp gutters
And soon it will be morning
Daylight, I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I mustn't give in
When the dawn comes, tonight will be a memory too
And a new day will begin
[Instrumental]
Burnt out ends of smoky days
The stale, cold smell of morning
A street lamp dies, another night is over
Another day is dawning
Touch me, it's so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me, you'll understand what happiness is
Look, a new day has begun

Castle On A Cloud is a song written for the musical Les Miserables with music by Claude-Michel Schonberg and lyrics by Herbert Kretmer, Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel.
Lyrics :
[Young Cosette]
There is a castle on a cloud
I like to go there in my sleep
Aren't any floors for me to sweep
Not in my castle on a cloud
There is a room that's full of toys
There are a hundred boys and girls
Nobody shouts or talks too loud
Not in my castle on a cloud
There is a lady all in white
Holds me and sings a lullaby
She's nice to see and she's soft to touch
She says "Cosette, I love you very much."
I know a place where no one's lost
I know a place where no one cries
Crying at all is not allowed
Not in my castle on a cloud

I Don't Need A Roof is a song written by Andrew Lippa for the 2013 musical Big Fish.
This accompaniment is based on the original cast recording by Kate Baldwin which you can hear here : youtube.com/watch?v=5l_Agmx69jg&ab_channel=KateBaldwin-Topic. If you are following the available sheet music I have repeated the one bar intro, as this is the way the recording had it.
Lyric :
In your face
I see a lifetime.
In this place
I feel at ease.
Wallpaper peeling, paint wearing thin.

I don't need a roof to say I'm covered
I don't need a roof to know I'm home
There could be a single shingle-dangling overhead
I don't need a roof to make my bed
Close your eyes, I'm still beside you.
No goodbyes needed today
Hear what the rain says,
Know what it knows
After the rain something grows
I don't need a roof to say I love you
I don't need a roof to call you mine
I don't need adventure in some far away frontier
I don't need a roof to feel you near
All I need is you and you forever
All I feel is true and absolute
I don't need a legal deed to help me play my part
I don't need a roof to hold my heart
Stay with me
Stay with me

Make Them Hear You is a song from the musical Ragtime with music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens.
This recording is to match the tempos of the original cast recording featuring the voice of Brian Stokes Mitchell.
Lyrics :
Go out and tell our story
Let it echo far and wide
Make them hear you
Make them hear you
How Justice was our battle
And how Justice was denied
Make them hear you
Make them hear you
And say to those who blame us
For the way we chose to fight,
That sometimes there are battles
That are more than black or white
And I could not put down my sword
When Justice was my right
Make them hear you
Go out and tell our story
to your daughters and your sons
Make them hear you
Make them hear you
And tell them, "In our struggle,
We were not the only ones"
Make them hear you
Make them hear you
Your sword could be a sermon
Or the power of the pen
Teach every child to raise his voice
And then my brothers, then
Will justice be demanded by ten million riteous men
Make them hear you-
When they hear you, I'll be near you
Again

Maybe is a song from the musical Annie which has music written by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin.
This is a piano accompaniment based on the original film version in Bb Major.
Lyrics :
[Annie]
Maybe far away
Or maybe real nearby
He may be pouring her coffee
She may be straightning his tie
Maybe in a house
All hidden by a hill
She's sitting playing piano
He's sitting paying a bill
Betcha they're young
Betcha they're smart
Bet they collect things
Like ashtrays, and art
Betcha they're good
Why shouldn't they be?
Their one mistake
Was giving up me
So maybe now it's time
And maybe when I wake
They'll be there calling me 'Baby'
Maybe
Betcha he reads
Betcha she sews
Maybe she's made me
A closet of clothes
Maybe they're strict
As straight as a line
Don't really care
As long as they're mine
So maybe now this prayer's
The last one of it's kind
Won't you please come get your 'Baby'
[Annie and Orphans]
Maybe

My Favorite Things is a song with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and music by Richard Rodgers from the musical The Sound Of Music.
This version is played in Eb Minor and follows the original cast recording. It is two statements of the same lyrics, the second time is a deal quicker.
Lyrics :
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver-white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things
When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad
[Repeat all]

Memory is a song from the musical CATS whose music was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with text from Trevor Nunn after T.S. Eliot.
This accompaniment is based on the 1982 London recording featuring Elaine Paige, you can hear the original here : youtube.com/watch?v=5vLwwvUiD8c&ab_channel=AndrewLloydWebber-Topic
Lyrics :
Midnight, not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory?
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight, the withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan
Memory, all alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days
I was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again
Every street lamp seems to beat
A fatalistic warning
Someone mutters and the street lamp gutters
And soon it will be morning
Daylight, I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I mustn't give in
When the dawn comes, tonight will be a memory too
And a new day will begin
[Instrumental]
Burnt out ends of smoky days
The stale, cold smell of morning
A street lamp dies, another night is over
Another day is dawning
Touch me, it's so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me, you'll understand what happiness is
Look, a new day has begun

Don't Cry For Me Argentina is a song from the musical Evita, written by Tim Rice & Andrew Lloyd Webber.
The top note in this version is Gb.
Lyrics :
It won't be easy, you'll think it strange
When I try to explain how I feel
That I still need your love after all that I've done
You won't believe me, all you will see is a girl you once knew
Although she's dressed up to the nines
At sixes and sevens with you
I had to let it happen, I had to change
Couldn't stay all my life down at heel
Looking out of the window, staying out of the sun
So I chose freedom, running around trying everything new
But nothing impressed me at all
I never expected it to
Don't cry for me, Argentina
The truth is, I never left you
All through my wild days, my mad existence
I kept my promise
Don't keep your distance
And as for fortune, and as for fame
I never invited them in
Though it seemed to the world they were all I desired
They are illusions, they're not the solutions they promised to be
The answer was here all the time
I love you, and hope you love me
Don't cry for me, Argentina
Don't cry for me, Argentina
The truth is, I never left you
All through my wild days, my mad existence
I kept my promise
Don't keep your distance
Have I said too much?
There's nothing more I can think of to say to you
But all you have to do is look at me to know
That every word is true

Part of your World was written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman and sung on the original soundtrack by Jodi Benson.
Lyrics for last chorus
And ready to know what the people know
Ask 'em my questions and get some answers
What's a fire? And why does it, what's the word?...Burn?
When's it my turn?
Wouldn't I love
Love to explore that shore up above?
Out of the sea, wish I could be
Part of that world.

Hopelessly Devoted to you was written by John Farrar and made famous by Olivia Newton-John who played Sandy in the movie of Grease in 1977.
The Accompanist has created a collection of Piano Accompaniments of Musical Theatre and Popular music songs.
Send in the Clowns is a song written by Stephen Sondheim for his musical A Little Night Music. This piano accompaniment is as per the tempos of the legendary performance given by Judi Dench in the Hey Mr. Producer concert in 1998. You can see that performance here : youtube.com/watch?v=yE3dLzIYKs8&ab_channel=pandorasbox01
It is almost identical to the score version except after the initial solo intro (usually on clarinet) the score only has one bar main intro whereas the concert had two bars before the first lyric 'Isn't it rich?...',
Lyrics :
Isn't it rich, aren't we a pair
Me here at last on the ground, you in mid-air
Send in the clowns
Isn't it bliss, don't you approve
One who keeps tearing around, one who can't move
But where are the clowns? Send in the clowns.
Just when I stopped opening doors
Finally finding the one that I wanted was yours
Making my entrance again with my usual flair
Sure of my lines no one is there
Don't you love farce? My fault, I fear.
I thought that you'd want what I want. Sorry, my dear.
But where are the clowns? Send in the clowns
Don't bother they're here.
[Dialogue section]
Isn't it rich? isn't it queer?
Losing my timing this late in my career?
And where are the clowns? There ought to be clowns.
Well maybe next year...

The Spark Of Creation is a song from the musical Children Of Eden with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz.
This version is based on the original cast recording in Db major.
Lyrics
EVE
Beyond,beyond
It sounds full of wind and mist, doesn't it?
It means other things exsist, doesn't it?
Beyond, beyond
It says "Adam leave your list", doesn't it?
Father, why does my head feel this joy this dread since the moment I said
Beyond!
I've got a itching on the tips of my fingers
I've got a burning in the back of my brain
I've got a hunger burning inside cannot be denied
I've got feeling that the Father who made us
When he was kindling the pulse in my veins
He left a tiny spark of that fire smoldering inside
The spark of creation, is flickering within me
The spark of creation, is blazing in my blood
A bit of the fire that lit up the stars
And brought life into the mud.
The first inspiration, the spark creation
I see a mountain and I want to climb it
I see a river and I want to leave shore
Where there was nothing let there be something, something made by me.
There's things waiting for me to invent them
There's worlds waiting for me to explore
I am an echo of the eternal cry of
Let there be!
The spark of creation, burning bright within me
The spark of creation won't let me rest at all
Until I discover or build or uncover
A thing that I can call my celebration
Of the spark creation
The spark of creation, may it burn forever
The spark of creation, I am a keeper of the flame
We think all we want is a lifetime of leisure
Each perfect day the same
Endless vacation
Well that's alright if you're a kind of crustacean
But when you're born with an imagination
Sooner of later you're feeling the fire getting hotter and higher
The spark of creation.

Little Miss Perfect is a song by Joriah Kwame from his musical of the same name. This accompaniment is based on the Taylor Louderman version (tempos wise) and is down 2 semitones from the original which gives a top note of E rather than the F# of the original key.

Lyrics :
Straight hair, straight A's, straight forward
Straight path, I don't cut corners
I make a point to be on time
Head out the student council
I don't black out at parties
I jam to Paul McCartney
If you ask me how I'm doing, I'll say
Well
I was adopted when I was two
My parents spoiled me rotten
Often I ask myself, what did I do
To get as far as I've gotten?
A pretty girl walks by my locker
My heart gives a flutter, but I don't dare utter a word
'Cause that would be absurd behavior for Little Miss Perfect
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na, no
I can't risk falling off my throne
La-la-la-la-la-la-la, love
Is something I don't even know
Straight hair, straight A's
Straight forward, straight girl
Little Miss Perfect, that's me
One night, my friend stayed over
We laughed, and drink and ordered
Something about her drew me in
What? It's totally platonic
That night was so exciting
Her smirks were so enticing
Hours speed by like seconds
Then, what happens is iconic
She takes a sip, I bite my lip
She tells a joke, I nearly choke
She braids my hair, I sit there
Blacking out for the first time
Next thing I know, I lose control
I finally kiss her, but, oh, no
I see a face in my window
Then my brain starts to go
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na, no
You can't risk falling off your throne
La-la-la-la-la-la-la, love
Is something I don't even know
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na
You can't risk falling off your throne
La-la-la-la-la-la-la, love
You don't even know
Rewind, induce amnesia
Deny the truth, that's easier
You're just confused, believe her
When she says there's nothing there
It's never worth it
When you're Little Miss Perfect

As Long As He Needs Me is a song from the 1960 musical Oliver! which was written by Lionel Bart.
This accompaniment has been created for Tenor/High Baritone voice in the key of C Major which is a perfect 4th down or a perfect 5th up from the original from the musical, this gives a top note of G.
Lyrics :
[Nancy]
As long as he needs me
Oh, yes, he does need me
In spite of what you see
I'm sure that he needs me
Who else would love him still
When they've been used so ill
He knows I always will
As long as he needs me
I miss him so much when he is gone
But when he's near me
I don't let on
The way I feel inside
The love I have to hide
The Hell! I've got my pride
As long as he needs me
He doesn't say the things he should
He acts the way he thinks she should
But, all the same
I'll play this game his way
As long as he needs me
I know where I must be
I'll cling on steadfastly
As long as he needs me
As long as life is long
I'll love him, right or wrong
And, somehow, I'll be strong
As long as he needs me
If you are lonely, then you will know
When someone needs you, you love them so
I won't betray his trust
Though people say I must
I've got to stay true, just
As long as he needs me

Waving Through A Window is a song by Benj Pask and Justin Paul from their musical Dear Evan Hansen which ran on Broadway and in the West End.
The Accompanist creates piano accompaniments / tracks for songs from Musical Theatre specifically designed for audition candidates.
As Long As He Needs Me was written by Lionel Bart .
The piano accompaniment has been performed in F Major which is the original score key. As this song has been performed many numerous ways since its first creation in 1960 I have created what I feel is a 'standard' sort of feel for the song.

LYRICS
Meat:
A hand above the water
An angel reaching for the sky
Is it raining in Heaven
Do you want us to cry
And everywhere the broken-hearted
On every lonely avenue
No one could reach them
No one but you
One by one
Only the good die young
They're only flying to close to the sun
Life goes on
Without you
Another tricky situation
I get to drowning in the blues
And I find myself thinking
What would you do?
Yes, it was such an operation
Forever paying every due
Hell, you made a sensation (sensation!)
You found a way through (found a way through)
All:
And one by one
Only the good die young
They're only flying too close to the sun
Meat:
We'll remember, forever
And now the party must be over
I guess we'll never understand
The sense of your leaving
Was it the way it was planned?
And so we grace another table
And raise our glasses one more time
There's a face at the window
And I ain't never, never saying goodbye
All:
One by one
Only the good die young
They're only flying too close to the sun
Meat:
Crying for nothing
Crying for no one
No one but you

No Good Deed is a song created by Stephen Schwartz for the musical Wicked based on the novel by Gregory Maguire.
0:00 Recit section - chant (Eleka nahmen... )
1:08 Main Song.
Lyrics :
[ELPHABA]
Fiyero!
Eleka nahmen nahmen
Ah tum ah tum eleka nahmen
Eleka nahmen nahmen
Ah tum ah tum eleka nahmen
Let his flesh not be torn
Let his blood leave no stain
Though they beat him let him feel no pain
Let his bones never break
And however they try to destroy him
Let him never die, let him never die
Eleka nahmen nahmen
Ah tum ah tum eleka nahmen
Eleka nahmen nahmen
Ah tum ah tum eleka... eleka...
Ugh! What good is this chanting?
I don't even know what I'm reading
I don't even know what trick I ought to try
Fiyero, where are you?
Already dead or bleeding?
One more disaster I can add to my generous supply?
No good deed goes unpunished
No act of charity goes unresented
No good deed goes unpunished
That's my new creed
My road of good intentions led where such roads always lead
No good deed goes unpunished
Nessa...
Doctor Dillamond...
Fiyero...Fiyero!
One question haunts and hurts
Too much, too much to mention
Was I really seeking good or just seeking attention?
Is that all good deeds are when looked at with an ice-cold eye?
If that's all good deeds are maybe that's the reason why
No good deed goes unpunished
All helpful urges should be circumvented
No good deed goes unpunished
Sure, I meant well. Well, look at what well-meant did
All right, enough so be it, so be it then
Let all Oz be agreed I'm wicked through and through
Since I can not succeed Fiyero, saving you
I promise no good deed will I attempt to do again
Ever again
No good deed will I do again!

0:00 Recit section - chant (Eleka nahmen... )
1:08 Main Song.
Lyrics :
[ELPHABA]
Fiyero!
Eleka nahmen nahmen
Ah tum ah tum eleka nahmen
Eleka nahmen nahmen
Ah tum ah tum eleka nahmen
Let his flesh not be torn
Let his blood leave no stain
Though they beat him let him feel no pain
Let his bones never break
And however they try to destroy him
Let him never die, let him never die
Eleka nahmen nahmen
Ah tum ah tum eleka nahmen
Eleka nahmen nahmen
Ah tum ah tum eleka... eleka...
Ugh! What good is this chanting?
I don't even know what I'm reading
I don't even know what trick I ought to try
Fiyero, where are you?
Already dead or bleeding?
One more disaster I can add to my generous supply?
No good deed goes unpunished
No act of charity goes unresented
No good deed goes unpunished
That's my new creed
My road of good intentions led where such roads always lead
No good deed goes unpunished
Nessa...
Doctor Dillamond...
Fiyero...Fiyero!
One question haunts and hurts
Too much, too much to mention
Was I really seeking good or just seeking attention?
Is that all good deeds are when looked at with an ice-cold eye?
If that's all good deeds are maybe that's the reason why
No good deed goes unpunished
All helpful urges should be circumvented
No good deed goes unpunished
Sure, I meant well. Well, look at what well-meant did
All right, enough so be it, so be it then
Let all Oz be agreed I'm wicked through and through
Since I can not succeed Fiyero, saving you
I promise no good deed will I attempt to do again
Ever again
No good deed will I do again!

[LYRICS]
MARY:
I need a place where I can go,
Where I can whisper what I know,
Where I can whisper who I like
And where I go to see them.
I need a place where I can hide,
Where no one sees my life inside,
Where I can make my plans, and write them down
So I can read them.
A place where I can bid my heart be still
And it will mind me.
A place where I can go when I am lost,
And there I'll find me.
I need a place to spend the day,
Where no one says to go or stay,
Where I can take my pen and draw
The girl I mean to be.

Moonfall is a song written by Rupert Holmes for the musical The Mystery of Edwin Drood.
Lyrics :
Between the very dead of night and day
Upon a steely sheet of light I'll lay
And in the moonfall
I'll give myself to you
I'll bathe in moonfall
And dress myself in dew
Before the cloak of night reveals the morn
Time holds it's breathe while it conceals the dawn
And in the moonfall
All sound is frozen still
Yet warm against me
Your skin will warm the chill
Of moonfall
I feel it's fingers lingers the veil of night shade
Light made from stars that all too soon fall
Moonfall
That falls from you
Betwixed our hearts let nothing intervene
Between our eyes the only sight I've seen
Is lustrous moonfall as it blinds my view
So that soon I only see but you

Once Upon A Dream is a song by Frank Wildhorn and Leslie Bricusse.
[LYRICS]
When it all began
we knew there'd be a price.
Once upon a dream
I was lost in love's embrace
There I found a perfect place
Once upon a dream
Once there was time
Like no other time before
Hope was still an open door
Once upon a dream
And I was unafraid
The dream was so exciting
But now I see it fade
And I am here alone
Once upon a dream
You were heaven-sent to me
But it wasn't meant to be
Now you're just a dream
Could we begin again
Once upon a dream

I Don't Know How To Love Him is a song from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's rock opera musical Jesus Christ Superstar. The song featured on the Concept album which was released in 1970 before opening on Broadway in 1971 and in the West End in 1972.
[Lyrics]
MARY MAGDALENE
I don't know how to love him
What to do, how to move him
I've been changed, yes really changed
In these past few days
When I've seen myself
I seem like someone else
I don't know how to take this
I don't see why he moves me
He's a man, he's just a man
And I've had so many men before
In very many ways
He's just one more
Should I bring him down?
Should I scream and shout?
Should I speak of love?
Let my feelings out?
I never thought I'd come to this
What's it all about?
Don't you think it's rather funny?
I should be in this position
I'm the one who's always been
So calm, so cool
No lover's fool
Running every show
He scares me so
[Instrumental section]
I never thought I'd come to this
What's it all about?
Yet, if he said he loved me
I'd be lost, I'd be frightened
I couldn't cope, just couldn't cope
I'd turn my head, I'd back away
I wouldn't want to know
He scares me so
I want him so
I love him so

I don't know how to take this
I don't see why he moves me
He's a man, he's just a man
And I've had so many men before
In very many ways
He's just one more
Should I bring him down?
Should I scream and shout?
Should I speak of love?
Let my feelings out?
I never thought I'd come to this
What's it all about?
Don't you think it's rather funny?
I should be in this position
I'm the one who's always been
So calm, so cool
No lover's fool
Running every show
He scares me so
[Instrumental section]
I never thought I'd come to this
What's it all about?
Yet, if he said he loved me
I'd be lost, I'd be frightened
I couldn't cope, just couldn't cope
I'd turn my head, I'd back away
I wouldn't want to know
He scares me so
I want him so
I love him so

My House is a song written by Tim Minchin for the musical Matilda based on the book by Roald Dahl. This piano accompaniment follows the tempos and structure from the Original Musical Cast Recording.
Lyrics (including interjections)
[MISS HONEY]
This roof keeps me dry when the rain falls
This door helps to keep the cold at bay
On this floor I can stand on my own two feet
On this chair I can write my lessons
On this pillow I can dream my nights away
And this table, as you can see, well, it's perfect for tea
It isn't much but it is enough for me
It isn't much but it is enough...
On these walls I hang wonderful pictures
Through this window I can watch the seasons change
By this lamp I can read, and I, I am set free!
And when it's cold outside I feel no fear!
Even in the winter storms, I am warmed by a small but stubborn fire
And there is no-where I would rather be
It isn't much but it is enough for me
It isn't much but it is enough for me
For this is my house!
This is my house!
It isn't much but it is enough for me
This is my house!
This is my house!
It isn't much but it is enough
[MISS HONEY (MATILDA & THE ESCAPOLOGIST)]
(Don't cry ...)
And when it's cold and bleak
(Please don't cry, I'm here! ...)
I feel no fear!
Even in the fiercest storms!
(Please don't cry ...)
I am warmed
(Let me wipe away your tears!)
By a small but stubborn fire!
[MISS HONEY (THE ESCAPOLOGIST)]
(Forgive me)
Even when outside it's freezing
(I didn't want to desert you)
I don't pay much heed
(I know that I hurt you)
I know that everything I need is in here
It isn't much but it is enough for me
It isn't much but it is enough for me

Live Out Loud is a song from the musical A Little Princess. The music was written by Andrew Lippa with the lyrics by Brian Crawley.

[Lyrics]
I don't want to go along with the crowd
Don't want to live life under a cloud
Give me some air and space
And sun on my face
I want to live out loud
Don't want to be alone in the crowd
Don't want to seem peculiar and proud
I need to be as free
As I know how to be
I want to live out loud
Every day sleep, walk, lock, step
No one dares to stray
Though they may straightlaced, shamefaced
Long to break away
They're as lonely as can be
Is that what they want from me?
I don't want to go along with the crowd
Don't want to live life under a cloud
Give me some air and space
And sun on my face
I want to live out loud
Don't want to be alone in the crowd
Don't want to seem peculiar and proud
Nobody wants me here
But, I won't be disappear
I want to live out loud
I want to run down an open shoreline
I want to join in a moonlit dance
I want to swing from the branches of a tree
I wanna bathe in a hidden inlet
And let the breeze come and dry my hair
I want the life they took away from me
If they makes me headstrong fine!
That's a fault I'm glad is mine
I don't want to go along with the crowd
Don't want my spirit broken and bowed
Why do I have to hide what I'm feeling inside
I want to live out loud
Don't want to be alone in the crowd
I only want what I'm not allowed
Give me the wings of a bird
I'll be seen and be heard
I want to sing when my heart is full
I want to sing and I want to fly
I want to soar the sky without a cloud
I want to live out loud...
