RIT Dyeing UCP Olive Drab and Coyote Brown! Howdy Folks! The weather and my schedule finally permitted me to experiment with RIT Dyeing specific color formulas, that are actually tactical. Now that I know how well the process works, It's time to start dyeing UCP Gear in mass.
Here are the formulas I produced for 3lbs. of fabric (6 gallon dye bath)
Olive Drab:
1 Bottle Camel (All Purpose Dye)
1 Bottle Kelly Green (All Purpose Dye)
1/2 Cup (1/2 bottle) Dark Brown (All Purpose Dye)
2 Cups Distilled White Vinegar

Coyote Brown
1 Bottle Tan (All Purpose Dye)
1 Bottle Camel (All Purpose Dye)
2 Tbs Purple (All Purpose Dye)
2 cups Distilled White Vinegar

$Make Your Own Gelled Alcohol! Make Your Own Gelled Alcohol! Three years ago when the great covid hoax started, I had a lot of extra time on my hands as I am certain most of you did as well. I discovered Hiram Cooks YouTube channel ( https://www.youtube.com/@MrHiramCook ). He Is a DIY Stove Guru! I watched several of his videos on gelled alcohol fuel and made a big batch of my own. The gelled alcohol fuel worked very well as a fuel alternative to solid fuel tabs when intense heat is not needed nor desired. I purchased Esbits rectangular solid fuel cook set and quickly found that the stove portion of the set was limited, as its size only afforded the use of solid fuel tabs. Solid fuel tabs have a lot of drawbacks. One of which is the heat is so intense that you can really only boil water with the thing. I experimented with gelled Sterno fuel in an Altoids tin and it worked great for actual cooking with the set. However the Sterno fuel was expensive and isnt available everywhere. I tried the Gelled Alcohol that Hiram taught me to make in an Altoids tin and It worked great! I can make my own gelled alcohol at a fraction of the cost of gelled Sterno and with the mount of the primary ingredient (calcium acetate) I have enough material on hand to make over 100 gallons of the stuff! Hiram hasnt posted a video in 6 years, but the vast catalog of videos he has posted are all worth watching for any and all camp stove enthusiast.
