Title translates as "As Dignified As a Blooming Flower" (or something like that ^_^;) It's not about dead flowers at all! Or dead anything! This song is a triple metaphor of sorts - the flowers blooming and becoming full, the moon "blooming" and becoming full, and young girls "blooming" and becoming more refined. I think. I hope. Well, she is comparing herself to the cherry blossoms when she says "I still don't know where that little bud will wind up." Hopefully those last four lines make a bit more sense? Obviously it's not the cherry blossoms whistling to each other and wearing geta, but it's the girls that bloomed. I think.
Also, about the moon rabbits... Instead of "the man in the moon", the Japanese have "rabbits pounding mochi on the moon." I guess they also trace out the moon's phases while they're up there?
The "footsteps" at the end - it was originally "geta" which are those weird looking sandals with wood stilts on them. Means the same thing - I guess I didn't want to interrupt the flow with people stopping to Google something...
