"Hesperian Dance № 2" by R.W. Enoch
Aulos, Music & Photography - R.W. Enoch
Sing to me, dear Muse, lead me into my song;
Let a breeze from your sacred grove whirl about my mind.
I've betrayed the lyrical meter of the song a bit in my rhythmic interpretation here, so I hope to re-record this someday soon.
Arranged for and performed on a replica of the "Louvre" aulos (~1st c. BCE/CE) by R.W. Enoch. Sources referenced include the original manuscript (Neapolitanus graecus C III 4), "Ancient Greek Music" by M.L. West, "Music in Ancient Greece & Rome" by J.G. Landels, and "Documents of Ancient Greek Music" by West & Pöhlmann. Instrument by Max Brumberg (@auloscollective1023)
As long as you live, let the world see you,
and do not make yourself miserable;
life is short,
and Time demands his due.

The Princeton University Band cheers the men's basketball team onto victory in Jadwin Gym at the College Basketball Invitation against the Duquesne Dukes, Princeton's first postseason berth since 2004.
"The Bunny Hop"
"The Children of Sanchez" - Chuck Mangione
"Tequila" - The Champs
"Basket Case" - Green Day
"Rock Lobster" - The B-52s
The Princeton University "Fall Break" Band makes it way to Philly for Penn's Homecoming. The team got routed 42-7.
Show includes:
- March out to "Princeton Forward March"
- Tribute joke to Benjamin "BFrank" Franklin complete with kite formation and "Aftershock."
- Tribute joke to Penn students where their C+s become F-s during the playing of "241," their GPA.
The Princeton University "Midterms Week" Band traveled to Cambridge to watch its football team get totally blown out by the Crimson.
Show includes:
- March out to "Princeton Forward March"
- Shooting Bow & Arrow Formation accompanied by the main theme from "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves."
- Two Breasts accompanied by "In A Young Man's Mind" by the Moony Suzuki.
Finally, THE REMATCH! The Band gets its satirical revenge on The Citadel in a longer-than-usual halftime extravaganza.
Show includes:
1.) Kanyegate-inspired come-on line.
2.) A tongue-in-cheek apology that apparently many Citadel fans thought was sincere, accompanied by a frowny face and the "Time Warp."
3.) A completely unallegorical, blue-vs-gray game of capture the flag. Of course, the blue team wins. The blue team always wins.
4.) A year's worth of South Carolina jokes ("YOU LIE!"), followed by a "Free Ride" with a "pony bribe" (aka carrot). Horse sex allusion FTW.
Unfortunately, the previous two weeks' shows are lost to the annals of time. Cornell Athletics didn't trust the Band to perform a decent, respectful halftime show and accused us of "not contributing to a football atmosphere." Who wanted to go to Ithaca anyway? Then, I stupidly neglected to set-up the camera for the Penn game, where the Band sported a whopping 72 members—the most this season. FYI, we played "Free Ride" and "Dammit (This Is Growing Up)."
Onto New Haven for Yale's Homecoming! The Band took two buses to this game, the first time that had happened since 1998, and somehow managed to squeeze 3 jokes/formations/songs out of our allotted time rather than the usual 2. We rocked and kicked the Yale Precision Marching Band's little bulldog tuckuses. Those silly Elis thought they weren't allowed to play in between downs.
Show includes:
1.) Clock (now with moving hands), accompanied by the theme from "Back To The Future."
2.) Kidneys (?), accompanied by the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back."
3.) Flaming barrel of trash, accompanied by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones' "The Impression That I Get (of New Haven)."
Alas, I also forgot to set-up the camera for the season-ending show against Dartmouth (all 13 of their band members came down for the game!). It was a cold and unenjoyable day, and no one cares about Fartmouth anyway—you're not missing much.
The Band's Annual Flasher Routine, going strong every Homecoming since 1976.

OLD NASSAU IS #1. How do they do it?!
Then watch as esteemed Conductor R.W. enjoys a "light" and "natural" beverage of barley and hops before ending Strauß' "Also Sprach Zarathustra."
The Tree Street Twirlers, a children's baton twirling troupe, graced the Band with their adorable presence this week.
Show Includes:
1.) A Magic Lamp, accompanied by "Friend Like Me" from Disney's "Aladdin"
2.) A telephone, accompanied by Blondie's "Call Me"
3.) The Tree Street F***in' Twirlers!
Columbia Athletics couldn't (more accurately "wouldn't") fit Princeton into the halftime schedule, so the Band only got 4 minutes during pre-game. Rather than doing the traditional Princeton Pre-Game, we treated the 4 minutes as our halftime.
Show includes:
1.) Hand of God / Adam Smith's Invisible Hand (now with collapsing fingers!), accompanied by "Wall Street Blues" which is actually "Basin Street Blues."
2.) A tree, symbolizing Columbia's new holiday called Earth Year, along with Green Day's "Holiday."
3.) Double Bonus: The Columbia University Marching Band's pre-game show!
This was the week after the infamous Citadel game. The international media was abundant, and the band was under the microscope.
Show includes:
1) Random precision march out
2) "Collapsing economy" ($ becomes jumbled mess) with "Main Title - Prince of Thieves" (bad Kevin Costner movies FTW).
3) Blanket with which to hide a fire safety violation, accompanied by "Great Balls of Fire."
The "Patriot League" had a "new policy" this year where students were "not allowed in the announcer's box." Undeterred by this obstacle, the Band designed a different kind of halftime show to entertain the masses.
Show includes:
1.) Enemy pirate ships HMS Colgate and the Plaque Pearl (toothpaste joke FTW), accompanied by "He's A Pirate" from the film "Pirates of the Caribbean."
2.) Giant snake, accompanied by "Bring It" from cinematic masterpiece "Snakes on a Plane."
3.) We were supposed to "do" the "Time Warp," complete with choreography Tim Curry-style; however, the Colgate Band ran over their allotted time, and we didn't want to get a Technical Foul called on us for delay of game; so, we decided to call it quits after Drum Major Lucas killed the snake.
