On July 17, 1996, a terrorist set off a bomb at the Summer Olympics in Atlanta that killed one and wounded more than 100 others. Those numbers may have been higher had a security guard not discovered the bomb before it went off.
His name was Richard Jewell, and at first he was hailed a hero. Days later, he became the FBI’s primary suspect. His friend, attorney Watson Bryant, stood behind him and helped represent him.
