Making a woodworking workbench doesn't have to be complicated and expensive. In this build I use nothing but 2x4s (as well as glue and brad nails). There's no complicated joinery and can be made without any clamps. One of the things I struggled with when I got started with woodworking is how to make a workbench without a workbench to work on? This project is so simple it can be done out of the back of your truck or driveway with very few tools. You could get by with only a circular saw and a drill if needed. You ready to Make Something?! Let's go!

Take your woodworking to the next level with vacuum press veneering. Veneering allows you to get the most out of valuable woods and use plywood and MDF when you need to avoid expansion and contraction. Using a vacuum press will get you more pressure and more even pressure than clamps alone. A vacuum press also allows you get pressure where clamps could never go and work around curved surfaces for creative woodworking. Depending on your budget there are multiple ways to get into vacuum pressing. At the upper end are dedicated vacuum pumps that automatically shut off and on to maintain pressure over long periods of time. The middle ground is a continuous pump as we're using in the video. And the cheapest introduction into vacuum press veneering is using a hand pump. Vacuum bags can be purchased or made. Although you can use regular wood glue, there are special glues used when vacuum forming that prevent bleed through and dry harder than typical PVA glues.
