JVC TD-V661 Internal Bias Calibration Part 1
updated
In this video, I just record myself replacing both, seeing if it's any better, as well as try a combination of old and new display and bezel to see which gave the best results.
Unfortunately, both bezels aren't all that great without a simple modification, which is just adding 2 small postcard-thickness pieces over the top two magnets. This helps gives a bit of clearance and maybe lessen the clamping force to reduce the pinching in that area.
So far it seems the best results comes from the new display and bezel WITH the simple modification. (And I really mean stupid simple mod).
Update: Sorry for the desync'd audio. I'm not sure how that happened. It looks like it was fine on the source. Also sorry for the awkward blurs towards the end - I didn't notice sensitive info until I reviewed the video.

I'm an actual customer of Visible, and when you use my code, we both get $20 off for the month.
A bit more info on Visible:
Basic plan is $25/mo and gets you unlimited call, text, data, and 10 Mbps hotspot on the Verizon 5G Nationwide network (up to 400 Mbps depending on coverage)
Plus plan is $45/mo and adds Verizon's 5GUW (can go much faster than 400 Mbps depending on coverage) as well as mmWave service.
Check Visible site for updated plans as they may have changed since I put this up.
So this is how you can help me out! Thanks!
Update: After reviewing the video, it seems YouTube streams in mono. :( In my other recordings (the ones with skipping frames), both the Cheese and guvcview apps recorded in true stereo.
I may have to remake this webcam and mics test another time when I can get the software capture working. At least the live YouTube video didn't skip any frames!
Maybe I'll try OBS. That's like smashing a fly with a sledge hammer though - overkill software for a simple test.
Batch 5 received March 29 I believe...

Will these work out?
The CPU straight up just counter your control inputs after a couple rounds! That's pretty cheap!
Well, it is if you need it to be faster than 10 MB/s when it's about 75% full (or 1TB free with my 4.5TB usable drive).
TechAltar video that got me on this hot take:

I was not planning on upgrading at that time since I figured they were similar, and I don't plan on upgrading this year from my now 7 Pro to the 8 Pro either. Smartphones have matured enough were the improvements year over year aren't as big of a leap anymore. I think that's a good thing.
I apologize for the quality.
I've up just been tired every day for the past year...

The small RAV power cube I actually bought directly from their website, I don't have a link right now, but you can Google it. I bought it over a year ago during Black Friday.
Seriously impressive set of protocols supported! From the wall warts and laptop chargers I've already tested, this single car charger shows more green than a golf course!
Update: I noticed capacitors that leaked! One is also very corroded that the barrel is bumpy!
I need to take this to someone. The person I bought it from has a friend who works on vintage stereo equipment. I already spoke to him and he's a really nice guy! Will have to schedule some time to bring it out there to him.
That's it for now. Sorry for not having it work in the video. You're free to come with me on my journey, failures, successes, and all!
It can even up the voltage to 20v from the to charge laptops! And that's with the standard 12v car/lighter outlet!
I'm impressed by what it can do. I'm a bit worried about the size of the unit as well as the thin cable, though. It didn't get hot in the short time I used it, but no idea how long it can provide max power before it gets too hot. And will it shut off for safety? Or will it handle it like a champ (defying thermal dynamics, lol). Only time will tell.
FYI, I don't plan on using it to charge my laptop. It was just bought to fast charge my phone. While my phone only charges at max 23w, a future phone may charge faster requiring more power. Also nice to know if I ever need to charge my laptop in a pinch.
USB charging requires a lot of communication between the charger and the device. This is required because USB charging has a wide range of voltages it can provide. If the communication not there, you either get no charging or basic charging (original spec of USB 1.1 at 5v at 500 mA and maybe up to 1A). That's why there are so many communication protocols to negotiate the what the device actually wants and what the charger can provide.
Update: I eventually did seey phone pull 22.5W at 9.2v, which is about 2.2A.
My laptop was pulling 68W at 20v, so that's 3.4A. Even at the max 100W, that's 5A, which is well under the 10A limit of the 12v outlet.

Call for help: Know anyone who has a replacement volume knob for the TA-4A? Maybe someone knows how to print one that my metal knob can slide into and glued? Does a knob from the 3A or the 2A work with the 4A?
What glue should I use for the small knobs?
Thanks in advance for your views and your help! β₯οΈ
I accidentally stopped the recording on my first video, so I uploaded this as a separate video. If you're interested in the first video (it was on the Nakamichi CDC-3A CD changer/player), see here:
youtu.be/u8YmprS-VjY
Update: I spoke too soon! The volume knob broke off. Brittle plastic. Also both tone adjustment knobs came off in an odd way, as well as the variable loudness knob. Not broken off, but more like the metallic shell came unglued from the plastic knob itself. π
Will probably do an update on the next video.
I also haven't hooked it up to any speakers yet, but functionality was tested on all inputs and with headphones. It sounds good so far. I didn't test recording since I don't feel like pulling one out right now. It was getting late.
Old equipment woes...
And just for the record, I don't blame the seller one bit! I was there with him doing the testing and none of this stuff came up! It's just the way it goes with old equipment and to be expected!
The 3 small knobs will be easy to fix (as long as the plastic holds up), but the volume knob is going to be tricky. I couldn't find a replacement on eBay (nothing listed), so I may have to see if I can glue it back together. It broke right at where it holds onto the spindle, though, so it's going to be tough.
The volume can still be adjusted, but I just have to be very careful. This will probably warrant an update when I get around to it. Stay tuned!
I accidentally stopped the recording before I went to the Nakamichi TA-4A receiver, so I had to upload it as a separate video. Here's the video on that: youtu.be/FBHi8oCFsUQ
UPDATE: I just did a quick search and found that the lens issue happened to someone else too! Also, the DAC that's on this player is very sought after apparently - a Phillips TDA1541. Here's where I found this info: audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/nakamichi-cdc-3a-worth-repairing.876283
Someone on the forum even linked to a video on how to fix it!

If you're in the US, have a happy and safe Independence Day!
EDIT: The DAC I mentioned is the Philips TDA1541 DAC chip, It's very well regarded it seems.
Kinda like how you notice some YouTubers use the same music because it was just in YouYube royalty free audio, or like the same transitions used in Windows Movie Maker.
Again, there's only so many ways to do something, especially if you're using the same tools.
Most of these people hire ppl to edit videos. I do everything myself and I'm not a video editor. I find anything other than Windows Movie Maker to be confusing.
It turns out that this isn't a great performer. Some dropouts, but it gives it a retro sound. Also I can't go beyond 0 db with Dolby B like with the other Type I tapes (Sony HF, TDK D, and Maxell UR). Disappointing, but still sounds pretty decent. Needed to be slightly over-biased to bring the highs closer to source.
Here's the track list:
Side A:
Now or Never Now - Metric
Such Great Heights - The Postal Service
Young Folks - Peter Bjorn And John
Creature Comfort - Arcade Fire
Dangerous (feat. Joywave) - Big Data
Everything Now - Arcade Fire
Side B:
Help I'm Alive - Metric
I Blame Myself - Sky Ferreira
Helena Beat - Foster The People
Tongue Tied - Grouplove
Walking On A Dream - Empire Of The Sun
Coming of Age - Foster The People
Gold Guns Girls - Metric
I liked the idea of a 2-in-1 adapter appeals to me still. In this video I excitedly unboxed it, but I haven't had a chance to use it in the car yet.
The set up is the same as the Motorola MA-1 except it gets detected as a Apple CarPlay device, even if you use it with Wireless Android Auto.
Consequently, this also means if you car stereo only supports Apple CarPlay but not Android Auto, this adapter will not only make it wireless, it also lets you use Android Auto on your CarPlay only stereo!
My Motorola MA1 review:

Just unboxing for myself. These days these gadgets come with less and less stuff in the box, though.
For the curious, the unboxing and moving head footage was filmed with front facing camera on Pixel 6 Pro. The in-car footage was done with a iPad Pro 9.7" (2016). AccuBattery was done with Android 12's built in screen recording feature. Movie was edited (as always) with Windows Movie Maker 12 (yes, I can still get it to work in Windows 11).

Besides Reddit, anyone watching my videos experiencing this with their Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro?
How about if you have another Android phone that it's happening to? What did you do to fix it?

The buds came free as part of a promo. My brother got me the charger because this generation of Pixel phones doesn't come with a charger. Unfortunately I don't already own a charger that can take advantage of the new fast charging on the Pixel 6 Pro.
I will probably do an unboxing of the phone when it arrives. I also ordered the official Google Pixel 6 Pro case but that was ALSO back-ordered. :(
I hope to get the phone sometime this week! The case, unfortunately, has a ETA of 1 month.
