As a young person I only had a latent/ vague sense of possibly how rotten our country’s history had been… But it was 9/11 that more or less dramatically accelerated my desire to try to develop a rigorous historical understanding of US foreign policy and the grotesque legacy of colonialism and US imperialism.
But for whatever reason…over the years I haven’t ended up regularly writing songs directly about this stuff… I guess I didn’t wanna sound too bitter/ strident, etc.- however, during the Trump presidency my rage and despair about the complete catastrophe of US politics started unavoidably bubbling its way to the surface…and in late 2020 I wrote this song, as a means of downloading my disgust at our out of control imperial hubris and exceptionalism.
The current Israel/ Palestine mega-catastrophe compelled me to spontaneously put together a sort of “found footage /conceptual lyric video” for the song, which, sadly, the message of the song, (IMO) couldn’t be more applicable/ timely than in this horrific moment of US sponsored genocide- even though the message of this song is pretty “on the nose” (lol) I feel like there is a fair amount (important!) nuance, compassion, humor and humanity, if, um, you listen closely. haha! HO-KAY.

KALI CORVETTE is Netherlands’ 6th full LP, and features all the hallmarks of Ellis’ work; blistering guitar heroics, primal drumming, and searing caterwauls. However KALI CORVETTE veers bracingly into the realm of electro-noise-punk, ratcheting up the intensity into a uniquely weaponized form of rock that reaches towards high art. SATANIC PLANET is the creation of Lucien Greaves (The Satanic Temple co-founder and spokesperson), Luke Henshaw (Planet B, Sonido de la Frontera), Dave Lombardo (Slayer, The Misfits, Mr. Bungle, Suicidal Tendencies, Dead Cross), and Justin Pearson (The Locust, Dead Cross, Swing Kids, Deaf Club). With the birth of Satanic Planet, hip-hop producer Henshaw and punk provocateur Pearson joined co-founder and spokesperson of The Satanic Temple, Lucien Greaves the most prominent and outspoken contemporary Satanist in the world. Greaves has gained international attention as an advocate for religious liberty and the voice of the Satanic Reformation, delivering lectures nationwide and featured in national media outlets including MSNBC, NPR, Huffington Post Live, CNN, Harper’s Monthly, Newsweek, Fox News, Vice, Salon, Rolling Stone, and many more. As the trio were diligently working, and nearly completed with, the music for their debut album, the worldwide pandemic hit, seemingly bringing things to a halt. Fuck Money is an American space punk band based in Austin, TX. The group debuted in October 2021 consisting of members TaSzlin Trébuchet (vocals) Alton Jenkins (drums), Bill Kenny (lead guitar), and Jeremy Humphries (bass guitar). Their sound draws on punk rock, noise, industrial, extreme music and other transgressive subgenres. Fuck Money was formed in 2020 during the latter half of the COVID pandemic that year. After writing their first EP, they spent their time recording at Arroyo Audio. The band has created a reputation of performing high energy, sporadic DIY shows in liminal spaces throughout the dark corners of the city The Austin Chronicle noted how “the band’s churning feedback swirl is equal parts imposing and obfuscating – curiously serene in its refusal to give its sonic-aggression a clear human face.” Their vocalist is also known for donning an unpredictable and tantalizing look at each show.
