This is my arrangement of Remains of the Factory from Chrono Trigger ft. Ian Martyn on electric bass. I arranged this track for Chambers of Time, a @GameGrooves chamber album celebrating 30 years of Chrono Trigger.

Happy 30th anniversary to Chrono Trigger! I co-produced this album with Ian for GameGrooves and thought it'd be fun for us to play together on one of the tracks, so I asked him to play bass for my track on the album!
I heard all the percussion parts in the original, specifically the congas and hi-hat (which I ended up putting on the tambourine), and thought it'd be fun to cover. I used the Vic Firth M154s on the marimba to get that brighter attack sound you hear in the original tune, then some softer Marimba One DHB3s for the melodic guitar line played on marimba. I put special effort into showing the mallet transitions back and forth too, so if you miss it on first watch then make sure you go back for a second look to find it! I put some special effects and reverb on the vibes to give them more of a synth sound a la original as well. On top of all that, I added a fun solo section the second time through the tune; of course I had fun playing the cajon/congas/snare solos, but special shoutout to Ian for killing it on the bass solo!
