Wrong on so many levels that I’m not sure I can properly address it. It was a common occurrence, especially in late-60s, early-70s mainstream motion pictures, to refer to someone as a 'Fag.'
In this very popular motion picture from 1971, ‘The Anderson Tapes’, a hotel employee is describing a guy and refers to him as a ‘fag’ and the person on the other end of the phone says, “That’s him.” Probably got a big laugh.
It was directed by Sidney Lumet so maybe I missed something... The 'N' word got thrown about a lot in movies back then too, particularly westerns, when it was way too late for that sh!t but Hollywood thought they could get away with it on a historical level.
