In October 21, 2023, the Reading & Northern ran their final steam excursion of the year from Reading to Jim Thorpe behind T1-class 2102. It was a beautiful day with the fall colors at their peak as the locomotive's thunderous exhaust echoed off the hills. Unfortunately I had to cut the northbound chase short as my car's radiator was failing. Being unable to find a mechanic that was open and able to work on it on a Saturday, I stuck to the main roads on the southbound chase and limped home the next morning. A sour way to end a trip I'd been looking forward to, but I can't be too upset as seeing and hearing the T1 roar past is always a thrilling experience. I shall return next year and hopefully have some better luck.
