Exploring the Wild Beauty of Alaska | Wildlife Encounters and Citizen Science

JACK WOLFSKIN 2023-11-03 | Join us as we venture deep into the untamed wilderness of Alaska, where we'll witness awe-inspiring wildlife and take part in vital citizen science initiatives to protect this remarkable region.
In this video, we set off to explore several islands, with a focus on the largest of the Pribilof Islands. Home to over 300 species of migrating birds and more than half of the world's Northern Fur Seal population, it's a sanctuary for wildlife enthusiasts.
Our journey continues as we explore Dutch Harbor, where we encounter majestic bald eagles, some of the largest raptors in the area. We even had a unique interaction with one of these magnificent birds right on our cruise ship!
But that's just the beginning. We venture to different parts of the island in search of sea otters and sea lions, with a special focus on capturing some sea otter footage. And, of course, we keep our fingers crossed for some spectacular whale sightings.
One of the highlights of our trip was participating in citizen science projects on Zodiac boats. We collected phytoplankton samples, which will be analyzed to gain insights into the local environment's health and its impact on the ecosystem.
Speaking of ecosystems, we delve into the significance of phytoplankton as the foundation of the food chain and its vital role in supporting salmon, which, in turn, nourishes bears, eagles, and more, creating a beautifully interconnected web of life.
And, of course, no Alaska adventure is complete without bear sightings. We were fortunate to spot several bears during our journey, including a mother and her cubs!
Our journey takes us to icy bays and lush forests in Sitka, providing a serene contrast to the turbulent seas we encountered. The forest and its thousands of salmon represent a haven for these incredible fish, even in the twilight of their lives.
We also embarked on a thrilling whale-watching tour in Wrangle, where we were treated to an incredible display of humpback whales exhibiting unique feeding behaviors, from bubble-netting to lunge feeding.
As our journey from Nome to Vancouver comes to an end, we reflect on the wild and untamed beauty of Alaska. It's an experience we'll cherish forever, and we can't wait to return to explore even more of this remarkable land.

Kruger National Park and the greater Kruger region stand proudly as Africa's crown jewel, encompassing one of the most diverse and protected ecosystems on the continent. Drawing in over a million visitors annually, this iconic park symbolises the allure of Africa's wildlife and its legendary "Big Five" – lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinos. It's a place where people come to reconnect with nature, immerse themselves in biodiversity, and learn about the importance of preserving our planet's precious animals.

However, this paradise faces significant challenges, such as poaching, water scarcity, and the looming impact of climate change. Sun Bears: Guardians of Borneo | Jack Wolfskin

JACK WOLFSKIN 2023-06-19 | Join Roxy Furman as she visits the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing sun bears. The center provides a safe and natural environment for sun bears, allowing them to climb trees and socialize with their fellow bears. Known for being the smallest bears in the world, sun bears get their name from the characteristic orange to cream coloured chest patch and can only be found on Borneo.

Established in 2008, the center has already rescued over 60 sun bears, with 12 successfully releases back into the wild. During her visit, Roxy meets with Dr. Wong, the founder of the rescue center, to discuss what can be done to help the sun bears. Dr. Wong explains that sun bears are facing numerous threats in the wild due to human activities, including habitat loss and hunting. In Asian culture, sun bears are even considered a source of food, and their cubs are illegally kept as pets.

Dr. Wong and his team work tirelessly to provide round-the-clock care for the sun bears, ensuring their good health and teaching them essential survival skills. The bears are being rehabilitated, to one day be released into the wild, they need to be afraid of humans, or they would be at risk of being poached. So, the team only ever wears the sun bear tshirts in their vicinity (with the same chest marking as the bears) to ensure that the sun bears recognize the team as no threat, while all other humans still are one.

Furthermore, Roxy witnesses a treatment session for an injured rescued sun bear, which, after receiving care, is able to rejoin its fellow bears. Saving sun bears is not only crucial for their own well-being but also for the wider ecosystem. Sun bears play a vital role as forest farmers, because their process of digging and foraging enhances the soil and prepares it for plant growth.

There are various ways in which everyone can support Dr. Wong's work and contribute to a brighter future for sun bears. As a student, one can study sun bears to help understand their behavior and needs. Artists can create beautiful paintings showcasing these incredible animals, while photographers are encouraged to visit the center and capture the beauty of the sun bears in their natural habitat. Additionally, volunteering at the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre is another valuable way to make a difference and contribute to the conservation efforts.

JACK WOLFSKIN 2023-04-06 | Pangolins are the most traded animals in the world because of their skin, meat, and scales. Today, Margarita Samsonova takes us on a journey to learn more about pangolins.

During her time at the Phinda Wildlife Research Project - a "Big 5" safari reserve - in Southern Africa, Margarita Samsonova experienced many exciting activities, including species research and conservation. Now, Margarita has had the opportunity to get up close with unique animals, the pangolins. She wants to find out how to conserve these Pokémon-like animals and why people are so keen on the skin, meat, and scales of pangolins. Pangolins are the only mammals that are completely covered with scales, which serve as protection in the wild from predators. Pangolins' sticky tongues can grow longer than their bodies.

But why are pangolins the most traded animals in the world? The magnificent scales and bodies of pangolins are why people want them. For some people, pangolin meat is a delicacy, and some use the scales of pangolins in traditional medicine. Additionally, their skin is used for leather products such as shoes, bags, and belts. Although eight pangolin species are protected by national and international laws, illegal international trade in pangolins is increasing.

At the Pangolin Working Group here in Phinda, the first pangolin was born after the mother animal was released back into the wild. The reserve is full of pangolins that have been res-cued from illegal trade. The organization provides proper care and protection for these pangolins. With the help of GPS, researchers gain insight into the territory, habitat, and movements of the pangolins. The goal is to reintroduce pangolins to a region where they were extinct for decades.

Overall, there is little data on pangolins. So, anything the researchers find out is new and will help others reintroduce pangolins in other areas. For Margarita Samsonova, this memory of pangolins will stay in her mind forever.

Wildlife and conservation in Hokkaido, Japan | Jack Wolfskin

JACK WOLFSKIN 2023-03-10 | Discover the wintery landscapes and rich wildlife of Hokkaido, the most northern main island of Japan, with DerHauge and Delfina. This region of Japan is widely unknown among tourists but is home to many endemic species.

In contrast to other regions of Japan, Hokkaido is less populated, but you can find very diverse wildlife in different habitats. Vast marshlands, cold oceans, hot volcanoes and dense forests form a unique ecosystem that helps many endangered species to thrive. Creative director and content creator @DerHauge and videographer Delfina first visit the village of Tsurui on Hokkaido in Japan to observe Japanese cranes. These red-crowned cranes are not solely symbolic animals of Japan, but the national bird of the land of the rising sun. Unfortunately, there are only 1,500 of them left in the world.

The Kushiro Marsh Wildlife Conservation Center is also located in Hokkaido. Here, injured birds of prey are taken in and cared for. The main focus of the Kushiro Marsh Wildlife Conservation Center, Hokkaido, is on sea eagles. The person in charge is Keisuke Saito, head veterinarian and founder of the Institute for Raptor Biomedicine Japan, who offers DerHauge and Dlefina a glimpse into his work with the birds of prey.

To explore more of the island of Hokkaido, the team heads North to the Shiretoko Peninsula. Here, DerHauge and Delfina see eagles in the wild for the first time. These eagles, which are under national protection in Japan, overwinter in Shiretoko.

Finally, DerHauge and Delfina have the opportunity to speak with Masaya Kusube, the CEO of Picchio. Picchio is a wildlife research center in Japan, that wants to combine tourism with conservation to be sustainable. In this area of Hokkaido in Japan, there is a great variety of wildlife to see, such as eagles, bears and whales. For Masaya Kusube, it's clear that “we can’t find a better place in any other part of the world to see the mixture of those kinds of animals.“

For DerHauge and Delfina, the experience in Hokkaido was breathtaking. Especially, experiencing the wild side of Japan for away from their home Tokyo was an incredible experience.

In this area snow leopards are one of the most treacherous cats. With their fur, leopards can camouflage themselves in the environment. Because of their blending in with the environment, snow leopards are also known as the ghosts of the mountains.

Today, Roxy Fuhrman meets Tashi Gialson from the Kibber village in the Spiti Valley in the state of Humachal Pradesh. He is a snow leopard expedition spotter at the Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary. Since his childhood, he is interested in snow leopard expeditions. That´s why Tashi Gialson wants to help people to see snow leopards. Therefore, he has learned to scan and track snow leopards in order to ensure the best possible sightings.

On this day, Roxy Fuhrmann is on a snow leopard expedition together with Tashi Gialson. They found tracks and pug prints of snow leopards. Shortly after, Roxy Fuhrman had her first sighting of a snow leopard. In this regard, Tashi Gialson told Roxy about an incisive experience with snow leopards. One day, a snow leopard came in the middle of the night and hunted the domestic animals of the village. After this incident, the government provides compensation when snow leopards kill domestic animals.

But over the next few days of Roxy Fuhrmann's trip in the Himalayan region, she had no luck finding snow leopards. Not only because of the camouflage of the snow leopards, but also because of climate change. Usually there would be snow at this time, but climate change has altered the landscape and changed the climate massively. For this reason, the prey of snow leopards must stay higher in the mountains as well as the snow leopards.

This raises the question: What is the impact of climate change on the snow leopards and their behavior and distribution?

Phinda is one of the greatest success stories of African wildlife conservation. Unlike other safari reserves, Phinda's land is owned by the local community, which means that everyone works together to protect the wildlife. Most importantly, animals from other regions of southern Africa are being resettled at Phinda to rebuild new viable populations.

While nature and animal conservation is often seen as actions in vain, Phinda is the positive example of successful wildlife conservation that proves these voices wrong. Here, volunteers and employees work together to preserve and take care of the health of wildlife. Phinda's conservation efforts have helped to reintroduce the cheetah population to other regions. Furthermore, Phinda is collaborating with WWF on the black rhino conservation project. With this project, Phinda now has the world's largest rhino population.

Margarita Samsonova shares her experiences as a volunteer in Phinda. She supports with all daily tasks of wildlife management and conservation, such as collecting data about wildlife. She is eager to understand why Phinda has been so successful in protecting wildlife. Phinda´s success is due to the team that invests much of their time in educating visitors and other conservation areas. This way, their system becomes self-sustainable. Hopefully, this success story will inspire others to realize that wildlife conservation can be successful.

Spider monkey voices in the Mexican jungle | Jack Wolfskin

JACK WOLFSKIN 2022-12-02 | The Geoffroy’s spider monkey is an endangered species that inhabits the jungles of Mexico. Wildlife biologist Roxy Fuhrman takes you along for a visit.

Over the last 45 years, the spider monkey species has suffered an 80 % population loss. Roxy Fuhrman meets Dr. Anja Hutschenreiter, a PhD researcher who has been studying the jungle of Yucatán for the past 5 years. This region is visited by millions of tourists every year. So, an increasing number of humans invade the habitat of the spider monkey.

The Geoffroy's spider monkey has long arms that allow it to swing from branch to branch and from tree to tree. Dr. Anja Hutschenreiter is researching the calls of the spider monkey. The sound is an effective research tool, since animals can be heard much earlier than humans can see them. With her research, Dr. Anja Hutschenreiter wants to show that spider monkeys and humans can coexist. Interestingly, the habitats of spider monkeys are much closer to human habitats than previously known. This might be, because spider monkeys and humans are attracted to the same areas around natural sinkholes with groundwater, or better known as groundwater lakes.

According to Dr. Anja Hutschenreiter, human existence is not the main problem of habitat loss, but expanding livestock and croplands are the major issue. For Roxy Fuhrman, this journey was an amazing, valuable lesson, sponsored by Jack Wolfskin. She learned more about the human impact on wildlife species and ways of coexisting.

Unser Waldschutzgebiet in der Eifel | Jack Wolfskin

JACK WOLFSKIN 2022-11-25 | Zum zweiten Mal schützt Jack Wolfskin alte Bäume in der Eifel für die nächsten 50 Jahre. Patrick Esser, technischer Leiter des Urwaldprojekts der Wohllebens Waldakademie, nimmt uns heute zu den alten Bäumen im Westen Deutschlands mit.

In der Eifel werden tausende Bäume vor der Kettensäge bewahrt und so insgesamt 60.000 Quadratmeter Wald geschützt. Patrick Esser zeigt uns Eindrücke aus dem Jack Wolfskin Schutzgebiet in Wershofen und was es dort zu entdecken gibt.

Das Besondere an diesem Waldgebiet ist, dass es eines der wenigen Gebiete in Deutschland mit sehr alten Bäumen ist. Leider sind die meisten dieser Wälder in Deutschland nicht geschützt. Dabei sind Wälder nicht nur als Erholungsgebiet wichtig, sondern auch für den Klimaschutz. Insbesondere alte Bäume können aufgrund ihrer Größe viel CO₂ speichern.

Ein wichtiger Aspekt ist zudem die Artenvielfalt in alten Wäldern. Viele Arten sind auf alte Bäume angewiesen. Etwa 13.000 Arten, wie z.B. Pilze, kommen nur in Totholz vor, das vermehrt von alten Bäumen produziert wird. Auch Tierarten, wie der Mittelspecht, sind Bewohner alter Wälder, denn ihr Lebensraum befindet sich hauptsächlich in alten Bäumen.

Laut Patrick Esser ist es besonders wichtig alte Wälder zu schützen. Dies liegt daran, dass sie mehr Biomasse haben und daher mehr CO₂ speichern als junge Wälder. Somit sind alte Wälder besonders wichtig für unseren Kampf gegen den Klimawandel.

Discovering the Wildlife of the Carpathians | Jack Wolfskin

JACK WOLFSKIN 2022-11-11 | Explore Europe‘s pristine wilderness with Christian Weiser and Michel Biel in the Romanian Carpathians, which is the habitat of some of the biggest mammals in Europe.

The Romanian Carpathians are home to a third of Europe's large carnivores, such as wolves,
bears and lynxes. Together with Jack Wolfskin, Christian Weiser and Michel Biel prepare for
their exploration of the wild Carpathians.

On the first day, Michel sets up camera traps in the forests of the Carpathian Mountains in
the hope of spotting wild animals such as wolves and bears. Over the following days, the two
had the chance to see bisons, thanks to the advice of the two founders of
Conservation Carpathia, Christoph and Barbara Promberger, a Foundation active in the
Carpathians. Unfortunately, Christian and Michel have not yet been able to spot any Carpathian bears. But Barbara Promberger knows a secret place, where the two finally saw not
just one bear, but six.

According to Christoph Promberger, "The Romanian Carpathians are the last wild place in
Europe." Therefore, it is important to preserve this wilderness and be respectful while
observing wildlife in the Carpathians. On the last day, Christian Weiser and Michel Biel watch
the footage from their camera traps. A wide variety of wild animals is captured on film, including bears, deer and bison. The two explorers had some unique experiences in the Carpthians, funded by Jack Wolfskin.

It is a physical and mental challenge for every participant. Eric Larsen is not only an adventurer but also a researcher. The unique arctic places in the north and south pole seems to be unaffected by humans. However, the human impact on the ice is very big. Due to climate change, the arctic ocean could be completely ice-free in 30 years. JACK WOLFSKIN 2022-09-29 | Conservation Photographer Ronan Donovan returns to the remote mountains of Yellowstone, hoping to discover the offspring of Mr. Blue, one of the most unique and famous wolves in Yellowstone's history.

Yellowstone National Park is an American national park located in the western United States, largely in the northwest corner of Wyoming and extending into Montana and Idaho. Yellowstone was the first national park in the U.S. and is also widely held to be the first national park in the world. The park is known for its wildlife and its many geothermal features, as well as the site or the first managed wolf reintroduction in the US. While it represents many types of biomes, the subalpine forest is the most abundant.

This Yellowstone wolf is known as Mr. Blue. He was born a black wolf and his fur changed to this cool steely blue-gray color. Mr. Blue lived most of his life within the borders of Yellowstone National Park and had at least 6 different female mates. One of the most amazing aspects of Mr. Blue’s character was his ability to mingle his way into existing wolf packs. He must have had that perfect personality mix of non-threatening, gregarious behaviour that allowed him to be accepted.
For years Ronan has been curious to see if Mr. Blue's genetics were passed along within that pack.

Environmentalist Margarita aka Margreen was invited by Jack Wolfskin to learn about the Rhino Orphanage in South Africa. It’s the first center in the world that started offering care to orphaned and injured baby rhinos.
The final goal is releasing them back into the wild. The team at the Rhino Orphanage provides medical, physical and emotional support to the traumatized rhinos.

Rhino horns are extremely valuable as in various cultures there is a strong believe that consuming the horn has a powerful healing effect. Especially within Asia this belief is widespread. This is why, rhino horns are more valuable than gold. However, killing animals for your own profit is a price that is never worth paying.

We all live in a world where more and more species are extinct. We can support rhino rehabilitation und care center efforts by spreading their cause or even helping them as a volunteer. Otherwise, rhinos will soon become extinct.

From Western Australia via Indonesia to Belize: Whale sharks are known to have many different feeding locations around the world. Between May and September the waters of Mexicos coasts are full of whale sharks. Up to 400 of the giant fishes can be observed in this place every season.

Despite having a large mouth, whale sharks are filter feeders and are not able to bite. They consume tiny little, microscopic plankton in the ocean. This makes them the perfect species for close encounters with swimming people. On one hand, this is a to an advantage for the species as people have often a misconception of sharks. But on the other hand, growing ecotourism is flooding the feeding places with tourists and boats.

This can have an impact on the behavior of whale sharks. Especially, how long they are feeding on the surface or how long their diving periods last. It is still unknown what exact long-term effect this impact will have on the whale sharks.

Roxy the Zoologist is visiting the marine biologist Rafael de la Parra to find out more about the technology, they are using to track whale sharks’ behavior. The scientist wants to raise awareness of the negative impact of tourism on whale sharks and sharks in general. There must be a balance between ecotourism and the welfare of these giant fishes.

JACK WOLFSKIN 2022-08-12 | Our three-week adventure in Morocco is over. Together we have discovered beautiful places and met remarkable people.

The #GOBACKPACK trip has taught us many things. During this journey, our adventurers did not only experience Morocco but also got to know a new side of themselves. But what did we want to accomplish with GOBACKPACK?

First and foremost, we wanted to give our creators a trip filled with exploration, nature, and people. We only have one planet. It is essential to respect and appreciate it.
One of the best ways to discover our planet (which we highly recommend): is in a lively group of curious people willing to fully open their hearts and minds to the extraordinary country of Morocco!

Being able to explore the freedom in the outdoors deeply connected us all! Through GOBACKPACK, not only a community has been built but especially many friendships. Our adventurers have gone to their limits while hiking, biking and climbing – sometimes even beyond. Due to the amazing nature discoveries and authentic experiences with Moroccan locals, emotions ran high. There even have been tears of complete and utter joy and appreciation for being in this moment – having the opportunity of this experience – and bonding with some of the most amazing human-beings around a campfire.

So what was #GOBACKPACK?
An experience and a passion for deepening our freedom outside. A journey to the self and us. A campfire with friends. The enjoyment of local hospitality. A cross-cultural exchange. The urge to wander and discover the most beautiful places. The search for harmony with nature. The will to be curious and to grow beyond yourself.

The tradition of carpet weaving in Morocco #GOBACKPACK2022 | Jack Wolfskin

JACK WOLFSKIN 2022-08-09 | Tradition and culture accompany our next trip! The depths of the Atlas Mountains hide a unique treasure –the art of carpet weaving.

So far, our adventurers have seen many beautiful and incredibly diverse places. Curiosity led them from the canyon's waters to the Sahara's dunes. Now, it's time to get to know the culture and tradition within the Atlas Mountain region better. Off the beaten path, 2,000 women keep a tradition alive by weaving authentic, elaborate Moroccan carpets.

But why here?
This tradition was neglected for years, although the knowledge was available locally.
Prof. Winfried Stanzer saw the potential for the region and the people and subsequently founded the Humanity Project "Ait Khozem."

As a carpet scientist, he supports the locals and helps them to preserve their traditions. For him, this is not development aid but a fair exchange to further the growth of nine villages. Through dialog with Prof. Stanzer and the locals, our travelers gained valuable knowledge by learning more about the history and tradition of carpet art.

Not only traditional gems but amazing adventures can be found in the Atlas Mountains. On a thrilling trip, everyone is pushed to their limits and can prove themselves while free climbing. It's dangerous, adrenaline is released, and in the end, there is a fantastic reward:

What has this trip taught us?
The gratitude that such places exist. Nature must be protected and respected because without it, there is no trip and no adventure!

Desert adventure in Morocco! #GOBACKPACK2022 | Jack Wolfskin

JACK WOLFSKIN 2022-08-02 | The first week is over, and a new challenge awaits our adventurers – the Sahara Desert in Morocco.

The Sahara is an unpredictable area, where every adventure needs to be carefully prepared. Behind every dune in this desert, the adventurers might be surprised with challenges and mysteries. The first one awaits our travelers right at the beginning: heavy rainfall. In these moments, earth challenges the spirit and experience of our team.

Always be aware, the desert can be a treacherous place. During daytime, adventurers are challenged by relentless heat and freezing temperatures at night. Our adventurers learn to deal with these harsh conditions. Life in the desert is not for everyone, but our creators push themselves to the limit and are rewarded. At night they see a clear starry sky beyond light pollution, and in the morning, they experience a beautiful sunrise.

Behind the dunes hides the city of Tamegroute, also called the last city before the desert. In this special location, religion, history and traditional craftsmanship merge. Our adventurers observe experts in ceramic firing and test their own skills. The traditional face tattoos play an essential role in the culture of Morocco. They symbolize health, beauty and protection.

These are the moments we want to experience. These are the places we want to discover. A desert is a dreamlike place that holds many surprises. Where will our adventure take us next?

An emotional hike in Morocco! #GOBACKPACK2022 | Jack Wolfskin

JACK WOLFSKIN 2022-07-28 | Jack Wolfskin's adventure continues. This time our creators go on an emotional hike and get to know themselves, nature and the locals better.

The hike starts in Dadès Gorges, a wonderful spot off the beaten path in Morocco. Our adventurers discover and admire a previously unknown land and locate hidden caves during the hike. The journey of discovery does not end when it gets dark, instead part of the crew decides to go on another hike. They meet a few of their little neighbors, the scorpions and enjoy the breathtakingly clear starry sky in the quiet of the night.

In the vastness of the canyons, the crew reflects and grapples with questions such as:
What is freedom? Do we appreciate our planet enough? How grateful should we be, and what can we do for our nature?

Morocco's diversity is not solely noticeable in its picture-perfect landscapes but also in its cultural and culinary richness. That is why, an adventure immensely benefits from cultural exchanges. At the local market in Zaouia Sidi Moha Ou Ayachi, our travelers try local fruits, vegetables, spices and meats. But most importantly, they are able to connect with the local community.

Unfortunately, many people are less privileged. Our adventurers get the opportunity to meet a nomadic family and see a different way of life that broadens their horizons. This emotional exchange strengthens the group for the further adventures to come.

Get to know this adventure’s multicultural team which has one thing in common: the passion for the outdoors and discovering new places. Morocco is home to breathtaking landscapes and views such as the Sidi Moussa or the Atlas Mountains. They should be on any nature enthusiasts‘ bucket list. In this first episode, our Moroccan guide Samir shows the team how to properly eat the traditional dish couscous tajine. Why Animals in Africa are in Danger (by Margreen) | Jack Wolfskin

JACK WOLFSKIN 2022-07-08 | Raising awareness about the environmental problems animals are facing is essential, but Africa is often not part of this conservation. Jack Wolfskin invited environmentalist Margarita aka Margreen to visit Botswana in Southern Africa, where she joined African Conservation Experience, a project that is trying to create a save environment for humans to experience the majesty of animals in Africa while making sure their populations are doing fine.

Climate Change is affecting all continents and Africa is suffering from severe droughts, endangering the places animals need to survive. The balance between nature, animals, and humans is rapidly tipping around the world and Africa is no exception. Competition for water resources is emerging, and humans have a huge advantage on animals. Luckily, local groups and projects in Africa are trying to protect animals and reestablish the balance.

In Botswana, a landlocked country just north of South Africa, the environment is becoming challenging for animals to live in, but not only because of climate change. Animals cannot move freely from place to place, as human developments in Africa are tearing populations apart. The animals must deal with poaching and water pollution is an existential crisis. To help and save these animals, African Conservation Experience monitors the animal population over time and how they are affected by human activity.

Projects like these are funded by volunteers, not just in Africa but also everywhere else, which is why every financial support matters for animals. Just a few of us know the practical issues of living with animals and wildlife in Africa. Experiencing the difficulties in the savannah in Africa can help us understand our connection to nature and the animals. With the volunteer project African Conversation Experience everyone can participate in this fantastic adventure and learn the basics of research and collecting data on wild animals.

In the end, we all are responsible for watching out for animals. In Africa as well as in Europe America, Asia and everywhere. That is why we need to raise more awareness!

Prep-Camp for our Morocco Adventure: #GOBACKPACK2022 | Jack Wolfskin

JACK WOLFSKIN 2022-06-13 | In our Prep-Camp in Hellsklamm, Austria, we gathered 10 content creators and two contest winners and prepared them for the newest phase of #GOBACKPACK. This time we were all going to Morocco to have the survival trip of our lives. The prep-Camp was an important part of making sure the sometimes inexperienced creators were up to the task.

Morocco has some stunning and beautiful nature, but at the same time it is a very dangerous place for the unexperienced, so our Prep-Camp had to bring our group up to speed in just a few days. Also, many of the people who entered our Prep-Camp had never met before, so we had to make sure they form a tight group. Prep-Camp had to make them into a unit where everyone can rely on everybody else.

Prep-Camp was intense, since in Morocco we will hike, bike, drive 4x4s through vast deserts and camp in a wilderness filled with dangerous wildlife. So, this Prep-Camp is really a means of survival – know what to do in whatever situation hits you and find your way around your environment. That is what the Prep-Camp was there to teach. And once you see what we actually did in Morocco, you will certainly agree that this Prep-Camp was a good idea.
