@HardwareJams Weekend CHallenge - "make the LFO the star of the show". So I've ended up with one of the most deranged jams I've ever done. In reality there are only two LFOs in action here, but its a bit more complex than that - the Lyra's Hyper LFO is a crazy and wild beast, the Make Noise Multimod has eight related-but-different outputs of modulation, kida LFOs which are offset and time-divided. Overall though, this actually sounds lke the local backbirds have been eating LSD!
updated 1 year ago
This jam is just on th Elektron Analog Rhytm ii and it uses 9 different 909 samples and three speech samples. The only other accessory is the Loopop Plus 3 which is mapped to some effects parameters in the ARii
Hope you enjoy.
Not too sure if this is actually good enough, I didn't have that much time to get it together, but it is a first take straight-to-stereo jam with some fun little Arbhar gated chords, looped Plinky in the Lubadh and the Analog Rytm being its dirtiest self. Cameos from Labyrinth and Xoxbox.
I love the work of @InvertedPopesMusic @ElaineSynth @riotbell5365 @mistergenerator5430 @Theshapelessgarden @FloChai and so many more channels here; this is a little tribute to you all and a modest thank you for the countless hours of calm you give us.
I hope you enjoy it x.
My attempt at a patch description:
Instruo Pocket Scion (controlled by my birthday present house plant!) feeds the Lubadh, which is continuously overdubbing. This goes into the Arbhar.
USB Midi from Pocket Scion also feeds the Arbhar (a genius trick revealed this weekend by @instruo and @TheUnperson THANK YOU!).
The Arbhar then goes through the Make Noise DXG Low Pass Gate.
Make Noise Multimod via Doepfer passive attenuators modulates the Arbhar and Lubadh.
Bela Gliss controls the Arbhar reverb
Plinky runs a wibbly wobbly sparse and simple arpeggio as an underpinning.
ALM Pamela's Pro Workout for clock and modulation of the DXG
Video shot on BMPCC Pocket 4k and graded in Davinci Resolve.
I miss you cheerleading so many of us in our stream chats.
I miss your incredible music and knowledge.
It is often much harder to motivate myself to stream a live jam, knowing you won't be there. But this one in particular is for you.

Well... I have many ways to reverse sounds, ended up with these:
- Using the Loopop Plus 3 to swap the start and end points of loops on the Analog Rytm ii
- Lyra 8 into the Arbhar and Lubadh with continual oversampling
- Xoxbox and Labyrinth into the Mood 2 pedal in pitch / reverse mode
Had a lot of fun with this one! Hope you enjoy it x
Drones courtesy of Arbhar, Plinky and the Mood 2 pedal.
Disjointed and disembodied voices from Lubadh / Multimod combo.
Beats and dub-ish behaviours from the Analog Rytm ii
Weird and wild synth from the Matriarch
Cameo from the Xoxbox
Thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed it x
Rumbly kick - Analog Rytm ii
Chirpy percussion - Edge into Matriarch.
Triplet bass - Matriarch with a three step major triad sequence.
Dirty Wurli - Nord Electro 3 via RE202 delay.
A MIDI c able from the Nord to the Matriarch allowed me to transpose the triplet bass line whilst playing the Nord, badly.
I need to practice, my apologies!
Electron Analog Rytm ii

Behringer TD3
Chase Bliss Mood 2 pedal
Instruo Arbhar and Lubadh
Make Noise Multimod
Moog Labyrinth
Patch notes:
Labyrinth sequencers' triggers are firing the two sides of Maths.
Maths envelopes modulating DXG channels 1 & 2, which are fed with the two sides of Spectraphon, each of which is getting pitch CV from the Labyrinth sequencers.
Side A of Spectraphon to channel 1 Left input (dummy jack in the right input), B to channel 2 Right input of the DXG.
The DXG outputs go into the TC Electronics D2 Delay on 50% wet /dry, which has a fun "spacial" parameter which allows for phase reversal and slight offset of one side of the wet output.
The decay times of both the Maths channels are modulated by two outputs from Multimod, slightly out of phase with each other.
Two more Multimod channels are sending pitch CV to the Labytrinth oscilllators.
The Labyrinth audio is feeding the Arbahr, further outputs of the Multimod modulate the scan, size and pitch of the Arbhar and the Gliss is controlling the Arbhar's reverb level.
Analog Rhytm has some long panned delays applied to various steps of various voices.
Hope that makes some vague sense!
This week the prompt was simply a recording of the Amen break, nothing else. So I thought I would wander in the opposite direction from the obvious and riffed on the idea of deconstructing, or perhaps decomposing the idea of a breakbeat...
I put the break through PaulXStretch and then uploaded the result to the Lubadh. This is the texture you hear in the start of the jam. Of course, I also uploaded a 160bpm version of the break but used Multimod and Lubadh to shatter it into bits. Patched up a wubby-ish bass on the Matriarch and created a strange atmosphere with the Multimod and Arbhar. The final ingredient was a Plinky patch that might have been a good candidate for the recent "LFO" challenge.
Hope you enjoy it!

ummmm
Arbhar, Lubadh and Plinky conjour up an evil distorted mess. Hope that does the trick!
Down-tempo Exploration of Matriarch, Plinky, Spectraphon all modulated with Multimod, Jumbler and Pam's Pro Workout. Arbhar and Lubadh adding fun.
Hope you enjoy!

My story text in the video:
"This is the story of those pesky but clever
little furry creatures known as Ewoks. This story takes
place in the alternate reality we inhabit called The JamFam.
As we all know, the Ewoks' home planet Endor
has been overgrown and subjugated by those pesky
Plants in their relentless conquering of the galaxy.
The poor Ewoks have been busily but ineffectually
plotting their revenge deep in the jungles of Endor.
They are also blissfully unaware of the other battles
that rage in the heavens above them; chaotic clashes
between the Dark and Light sides, Jedi and Sith.
Orbiting high above the planet Endor is a monstrous
creation of the Dark Side known as a Death Star.
In a further twist of ignorance and fate (something
seemingly quite common in this strange reality)
spores of the fungi that feed and support the dominance
of the Plants throughout the galaxy have found their way
through interstellar space and tunneled into the heating
ducts and infrastructure throughout the Death Star.
It is well known that the agents of the Dark Side are a tad
nesh and like to have the heating turned up to a toasty
23 degrees so they can swan about in shorts and
flip flops whilst they charge their laser guns.
This of course leads to their unwitting destruction
because those mushroom spores in the heating ducts
germinate, multiply and grow very rapidly indeed...
They swiftly spread through the entire Death Star
wrecking the functionality of all the mechanisms that
keep the forces of the Dark Side snug and warm.
Hubris comes into play at this point, there are no
cardigans, sweaters, longtrousers, sensible shoes or
even scarves (the horror!) aboard the Death Star;
posession of such items would have led to summary
ejection via the nearest air lock along with the clothes.
So the entire crew of the Death Star start huddling
together for warmth (even though they don't really
need to) and they stop watching their screens or
monitoring the functionality of the Death Star's systems.
The invading mushrooms spread ever deeper into the
hideous construction and the whole edifice crumbles and
breaks apart leading to a huge and spectacular explosion.
Victory is served to the Light Side on a big fungal platter
courtesy of the unwitting life support system of the Plants.
In their joy at this outcome, the Rebel forces explain to
the Plants what has been going on and the Plants see
the benefits of a symbiotic pact to ensure a peaceful and
prosperous future for everyone in the galaxy.
For their part, the Rebel forces start to understand the
power and incredible sophistication of fungi and myceliae.
In the meantime the Ewoks had the motherof all parties,
they ate a load of mushrooms, dropped some banging
tunes and of course they discovered acid techno.
That's all we fekkin need. Ewoks making techno. "
Apologies for the jerky video, my upload speed was dreadful. However there wasn't that much to see. And the audio was thankfully intact, so I'll leave this up if you fancy a listen rather than a watch!

OLD - My trusty DX7, 42 years old.
NEW- Plinky and Multimod (which is creating the weird reverse effect on the Crave)
BORROWED - from my dear friend Sophie Toes; the Nord Electro that is MIDI'd to the DX7 and they combine to make the bell-marimba sound
BLUE - well, spot the blue notes - a bit cheesy I guess but so what?
Thanks for watching and please forgive the terrible playing x

I am still getting to grips with my new modules - DXG and Arbhar and this is another experiment with them.
The video was shot in September from the cliffs in Cape Cornwall, the day after lovely Inky's funeral.

I grabbed some "interesting" noises from the shortwaves via a webSDR and sampled them into my #elektron #analogrytmmkii then I sculpted a few other percussion voices from the noise engine available in there; mapped the #endorphines #plus3 to some effects parameters. Then jammed out a beat!
Hope you enjoy the noises and thanks for watching.
