Making Rusalkas Robotic Arm for Warframe Plexi Cosplay 2025-07-04 | The last part of Major Rusalka’s costume was certainly the most difficult. For her robotic arm, we used 5 servo motors on a custom palm plate. The idea was to have an idle animation to have the hand look alive while also having a few poses controlled by buttons within the forearm. @HDCFabrication did the bulk of the electronics work for this part of the project. We utilized Bottango software to set the joint angles as well as positions of the poses, spending countless hours tweaking the code, fixing motors, joints, and screws in the hand itself, and mounting the custom printed parts to the core. My hand fits within the forearm prints where there are 5 buttons: 1 to power on/off the lights, 1 for the servos, and then 3 for poses. A 12v rechargeable battery plugs into the unit and is hidden within the forearm. Would we do it this way again? Unsure. Making Warframe Accessories - Major Rusalka #tennocon2025 Plexi Cosplay 2025-06-27 | We all know I love a good mask, and Rusalka’s is one-of-a-kind! This is a custom print pulled right out of the game and printed at HDC Fabrications in Chicago. The alumaluster paint finish is my favorite part, for sure.I wanted to continue with adding lighting where possible, so the features of the mask with lighting were printed in transparent filament and airbrushed in-house with a custom paint to match the yellow-green hue of the Efervon bags. The hat is based on a military cap pattern and customized for Rusalka’s unique hat design. I actually sewed the cap onto the wig so that there won’t be a risk of it falling! The mask is held onto my face with two magnetic snaps sewn into the wig and a little bit of Topstick on my nose to keep it in place.We’re still missing a major part of the process for my last video to share…can you guess what it is? Making Rusalkas Jacket and Shoes from Warframe - TennoCon 2025 Plexi Cosplay 2025-06-20 | Rusalka’s jacket is such a cool mix of military and modern style, so finding a way to translate her design into a real life fabrication was an interesting process!I worked long and hard ordering several fabric swatches to find the right shade of ‘kiwi’ green canvas. The key to making the fabric believable is the weathering, so you’ll find lots of sepia airbrushing throughout this project. Everything is custom patterned, all the way down to the shoes. Sayakat Cosplay constructed her pants, and I spent time airbrushing those with sepia tones as well to bring everything together.We’ve still got some major (pun intended) pieces to show you on this costume, but TennoCon is right around the corner!!! First progress update on Rusalka for TennoCon 2025! #warframe Plexi Cosplay 2025-06-13 | It’s time to finally share some of the progress on Major Neci Rusalka 🦾. One of the most iconic parts of her costume is the Efervon sling bag, and its construction was a challenge!Selecting the right materials was of utmost importance for this piece to get the right effects. The bags themselves have bubbling Efervon within, so I needed to mimic that with fluorescent yellow/green vinyl filled with diffusing material over LED arrays. We are still working hard on the coding for the lights themselves, but you can see what the progress is like so far!
