Kennywood's Jack Rabbit is the second-oldest continuously operating roller coaster in the United States.
Even among Kennywood's large collection of rare and historic rides, the Jack Rabbit stands out. It is the park's oldest roller coaster and has continued to be one of its most popular attractions throughout the decades. Built by one of the industry's most influential builders, John Miller, Jack Rabbit was one of the first roller coasters to feature underfriction wheel technology, which allowed it to go faster, drop further and turn sharper than its contemporary coasters. This all added up to a more thrilling--and safer--ride experience than guests of the time were accustomed to, highlighted by the Jack Rabbit's "double-dip" set of back-to-back hills separated only by a brief leveling of the track that gives riders the impression that the coaster is leaving the track, as they are ever-so-slightly projected out of their seats.
Listen to roller coaster historians and enthusiasts tell what makes the Jack Rabbit so special in their minds, and then share with us! We've launched the "100 Years, 100 Memories" campaign to get stories from anyone who's ridden the Jack Rabbit over the years and learn what makes it so special to them. The top 100 entries will win a 2020 Season Pass! Visit www.Kennywood.com/JackRabbit100 to learn more about the contest and enter today.
