Burning the dollar bill - flame on george washington
updated 15 years ago
Kubrick had long planned to adapt the novella that became Eyes Wide Shut, but chose to make The Shining first, possibly to obscure his true intent. By critiquing the wealthy and powerful through the more palatable genres of horror and comedy, Kubrick could reveal the realities of their sinister practices to audiences in a less overt way.
The recurring religious and sacrilegious imagery in Foul Play and Eyes Wide Shut, such as the villainous "Red Cloak" who resembles the Pope, further link the films' themes. Kubrick's blatant visual references to Foul Play seem to hint that the disturbing behaviors of the elite groups in his own films have a basis in the truth he had witnessed.
This theory paints Kubrick as a filmmaker on a mission to expose the ugly realities of those in power through his art - a mission that may have cost him his life, as he died shortly after showing the final cut of Eyes Wide Shut to studio executives. The parallel imagery is Kubrick's way of authenticating the dark world his films depict.
Working on Nosferatu helped me to gain a better appreciation for F. W. Murnau. It is a fine piece of work and one can see why people keep returning to it, especially directors like Werner Herzog and more recently one of my favorite directors, Eggers.
The essay further delves into the works of Stanley Kubrick, focusing on "The Shining" and "Eyes Wide Shut." It proposes that Kubrick, similar to "Twin Peaks" co-creator David Lynch, may have unintentionally mirrored themes of elite corruption and exploitation of youth in their works. Various motifs in "Twin Peaks," especially the symbolism of owls, are analyzed and compared to similar themes in Kubrick's films.
Concluding, the essay discusses broader themes of innocence, corruption, and secrecy within both "Twin Peaks" and Kubrick's films. It proposes these themes might reflect disturbing realities within elite circles, akin to those depicted in Bohemian Grove rituals.
This video essay offers an intriguing exploration of the links between popular culture and hidden societal elements, inviting viewers to ponder the deeper meanings and implications behind these captivating connections.

There was this series of cassettes I used to love to listen to back in the 1980's which were part of my New Age phase, but I still love listening to them now. I own several of the series and they usually help me go to sleep. In fact, they're almost 100% effective in putting me to sleep, which unfortunately means I don't get to enjoy the message all the way through. This video is primarily for me but maybe some out there will enjoy it too. The original audio didn't have the sounds for the Chakras, so I included the tones which are traditionally associated with the Chakra frequencies.
The images I use in this video were created by yours truly, using Midjourney AI art generator.

abc Monday night movie - 01/19/1987
part two
complete with commercials
now i know what you’re thinking. why did i put in the commercials? it’s really quite exciting when you think about it. i was able to find the commercials for the series as it originally aired. what i did was to put a cleaner copy of the movie in place of what would have been a VHS transfer, so it’s a really good copy, better than the other versions on youtube.
i saw this when it aired on tv way back when, but i think i only caught the second part which is probably the most important one. it’s funny the way the mind works because i had always thought the series aired in 1988. maybe it did and i caught a repeat. it was very influential on me because i was just a kid and i was really into the Beatles and i became fascinated with the NEW AGE.
at any rate i read Shirley’s book in 2021 while i was recovering from covid. what a great book. there are definitely differences. she wrote a follow up book which details the making of the series, and that is quite good too. the book is called, “IT’S ALL IN THE PLAYING.”
i watch OUT ON A LIMB all the time and whatever your spiritual background or journey is, i think it’s an important aspect of one person’s search for meaning in an otherwise confusing universe. when you think about it, Shirley Maclaine has got some stones for having the testicular fortitude to do what she did. that being said, whatever your feelings on the esoteric or the New Age, you have got to respect what this work is.

What an incredible film. I've seen several YouTube vids about this film, and with all due respect to those videos, I think my version is more comprehensive. I could have gone on and on with the part about the songwriter and also the Cultist, Sam encounters in the finale, but I didn't. I think I gave enough information to convey the message I wanted to give.
Do I tire of making conspiracy theory videos? Well, I wasn't expecting to make this one. I only just watched the film on Friday and today is Tuesday. I spent the past few days just working on this video. The video lasts about 40 minutes but it takes several days to complete.
If it were up to me, I would make a video every month, but I don't really have the finances for something like that. In this particular case, I was quite passionate about the story and I was able to focus all the gathered information in to the product before you today.
I hope you enjoy!

Saul J. Turell's documentary fixes our gaze on cinema's female sex symbols, delighting in their glamor while also examining our shifting culture that constantly redefines what we consider alluring--and what we are allowed to see.

a fascinating documentary in that it is meant to be a joke. some joke. it includes some of the most important political figures of all time. Henry Kissinger, Richard Helms, Alexander Haig and Donald Rumsfeld just to name a few.
what is my take on this documentary? obviously some things mentioned are true. I personally believe it was the intent of the filmmaker to wrap the truth in a sandwich of absurdities. for instance, the names Eve Kendall and George Kaplan are straight from the Hitchcock film NORTH BY NORTHWEST. That is not Buzz Aldrin's sister. Jack Torrance and David Bowman are characters in Kubrick's SHINING and 2001 respectively. And seriously? Kubrick's photo was left on the floor of the lunar surface set? lol
on the surface of it, the film is a a fake documentary about Kubrick as a hired gun to fake the moon landing, however that is a cover for the real agenda, which is something far sinister. am I convinced of this conclusion? not entirely, and that's alright. at the end of the day, it's an amusing bit of entertainment.
I do very much believe that Kubrick did have some involvement with powerful men and that interaction was something that haunted Kubrick. this would explain why even though Kubrick had a pilot's license, he would never fly. He also very rarely left his home. What spooked Kubrick?
Do I personally believe Kubrick faked the moon landing? I don't know, and chances are you don't either. All anyone can do is speculate, but I do know that if anyone in 1969 could have achieved such a hoax, then it would in fact be Kubrick.
Do I think we landed on the moon? I'm leaning towards the possibility that we probably did not. Unfortunately, there are some people who hold some rather dogmatic views on either side that are absolutely convinced of their position. I honestly don't care about it that much. Don't get me wrong. I would love for humankind to be a space exploratory peoples, but there seems to be too much greed for that to happen at the moment.
In the grand scheme of the Kubrick mythology, the moon landing is but a minuscule portion.
I believe the filmmaker William Karel may have discovered some information while making his documentary film on the CIA. Whatever it was, he felt confident to approach the widow of Stanley Kubrick, Christiane and her brother Jan Harlan to participate on this ludicrous project. But is it really? What if the only way to legitimately hint at Kubrick's involvement with the elite was through a comedic approach? Why else would Kubrick's wife agree to this collaboration?
Kubrick himself was once going to film EYES WIDE SHUT as a comedy with Steve Martin. Perhaps he thought he could make a truthful dark comedy, in the same way he did DR STRANGELOVE.
For a more elaborate explanation of what I believe Kubrick was trying to convey in his films, watch my video on TWIN PEAKS, KUBRICK and BOHEMIAN GROVE.
once upon a PISTOL - a slightly annotated Sex Pistols compilation compared to the FX disney series..
i couldn't figure out how to do this video. should i do a top ten list, or should i make a comparison with the book? i tried writing out a script, but then i realized i didn't need to write anything at all. there was enough talking in the clips without needing me to form a narrative because it was already there.

Partly because it was one of the first biographical attempts to gather the material so soon after the war ended, Shirer himself lived in Germany during the 1930s.
But also, because it set the pattern of how to view the Nazis from their very beginning to the very end.
This is a fascinating topic to be sure, however it's like studying the devil, for the Nazis were the worst type of humans on the planet.
I believe that Adolf Hitler represents a foreshadowing of what the end times will look like under the Antichrist.
The reason I feel it is important to show this documentary is that I want people to reexamine themselves and reevaluate what it means to be an American.
Respect is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as: "a feeling of deep admiration for someone elicited by their qualities or achievements."
Did Disney have "respect" for Fairy Tales? Well perhaps it's subjective, but in my opinion the answer is yes. They didn't have to copy Grimm verbatim. That's not a requirement for respect. Did they have "respect" for Star Wars? No, they did not, and do you know why? Well that's what my video explains.
It becomes a bit of a semantic dispute when the words, "science" and "fiction" are put together to form a category. The same arguments I find people make against Star Wars being Science Fiction are the same ones some could make against a great Science Fiction writer like Heinlein. I use the term in my video to describe exactly where one would find any Star Wars film in a video library, the Science Fiction section.
At the end of ROTJ, in the Ewok village Luke takes Darth Vader's body and life support apparatus and burns it in what appears to be some symbolic ritual. In all likelihood, Han and Leia would have asked Luke what he was doing. Why would Han and Leia keep it secret that grandpa Vader repented from the dark side from little Ben? And besides this, it has been said numerous times by Lucas that the redemption of Vader was one of the main motifs of the Original Trilogy. TFA just spits in the face of Lucas.
Wouldn't you be proud if your father had changed his evil past? Would you keep his repentance secret? No, I don't think the Luke we have been presented in the OT would have been secretive about his father's redemption. The people who comment, "Kylo didn't know about Vader" or "Only Luke knew" want to like TFA so much, they have to perform mental gymnastics to make that happen.
Anyway, read this article. Abrams says that Kylo knew about Vader's redemption. Read this before posting a comment stating, "...but Kylo never knew about Vader's repentance. Only Luke knew!"

I felt the music felt wrong, so I changed it to the Suicide Scherzo from A CLOCKWORK ORANGE.
I'm proud of this one. Sounds great!
I made this using Apple Garage Band. I imported the midi for Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag and duplicated it in to multiple tracks to get a particular sound. To get that bass drum effect, I used one of the notes that were written in the score and any time that note would play it would hit the drum. It was quite interesting the way it all turned out.
