This plastic gear deteriorates over time causing it to eventually break into pieces. Without a functioning top gear the hook stops spinning and the machine will no longer sew. The service manual for this machine says to partially remove the horizontal arm shaft to gain access to the broken top gear. This video shows that the top gear can be accessed by removing various parts, specifically the feed dog fork so that the top gear can be accessed via the side of the machine.Unfortunately I didn't take any video because I didn't know if I was going to be successful. Swingline Model 67 Electric Stapler Repair demotoob 2023-08-09 | Swingline Electric Stapler RepairModel 67 SWI-06701-Won't staple-Staple magazine resting on crimp area.Disassembly revealed that two orange plastic sleeve bushings had completely disintegrated into tiny pieces allowing the staple magazine to fall down and rest on the crimp anvil.After not finding any replacement bushings available onlineI marked the case as "Parts" and shelved it.But later on I changed my mind and decided to try and fix it.The outside diameter of the disintegrated bushing was about the size of a Chapstick lip balm tube end with the cap off. The pin that goes through the bushing was about the diameter of a Papermate ballpoint pen ink reservoir.I cut two Chapstick lip balm tubes ends and (on a piece of wax paper) JB Welded two lengths of an ink reservoir centered inside of them.The width/thickness is approximately 5/16" or 8mmAfter the glue cured I drilled out the center pieces with a small drill bit which allowed me to push out the ink reservoir. I then used a larger 5/32" drill bit to bore out the holes further and make sure they were centered. Installing Beyerdynamic DT770 velour ear pads on AKG K240 headphones demotoob 2023-04-02 | Replacing original AKG pleather ear pads with genuine Beyerdynamic DT770 velour ear pads (EDT 770V) so my ears don't sweat so much.The OEM faux-leather ear pads tended to sit on my ears instead of around them like the velour DT770 pads.So far I really enjoy the comfort and sound of the K240's with the new velour pads.Just a quick edit in Openshot to mute a few curse words and decrease the hair dryer volume so some unintentional Darth Vader breathing and odd vocal noises remain.Shortly after this video I noticed that the vinyl "lip" that holds one of the pads was considerably less prominent on one edge. It looked rather tenuous so I reheated that area with the hair dryer and pulled it until the "lip" was evenly distributed the entire circumference of the cup. As you can see I accidentally poked a hole in the fibrous membrane. Dual 522 Turntable Speed Selector Switch Fix demotoob 2023-03-21 | Dual 522 turntable would not switch to 45 rpm speed when switching the Speed Selector Lever (#260 297) because the leaf spring (#260 570 part 106) would bind instead of moving the switch lever (#260 475).Excessive lubrication wouldn't free it up, so I bodged together a subtle modification using bobby pins and wire which helps give the leaf spring a glancing little bump in the right direction. Whatever you do, don't ever force the lever if you feel any significant resistancebecause there is an important plastic part of the tonearmcalled a "deering ring" that is under constant spring pressure and can easily be broken if you try to force the lever.If the dearing ring breaks, plastic pieces of the broken partcan get caught up in the tonearm mechanismand render your turntable unusable.Replacement rings / sleeves / washers are available on ebay and other stores.I bought a clear ring from one vendor and a black rubber ring (like the original) from another but I decided to use the clear one for now.The clear ring is slicker feeling while the black one feels more like regular rubber.After reading another post on vinylengine.com, It looks like I probably should have completely removed the two ball bearings and cleaned them. Honda Key Fob Keyless Entry Remote Case Repair Kit Install - CRV Pilot Accord Civic Fit Odyssey CR-Z demotoob 2022-11-14 | The small sleeve that slips over the key blade also must slide into the back piece of the key fob (it has grooves) before remaining assembly steps.Both the sleeve and the back piece of key fob (solid with no button holes) have small grooves on each side so that they fit firmly together (see pic).The sleeve will only slide into the back piece one way. The larger of the two screw holes in the sleeve will be facing upward.If you can't get the sleeve to slide into the back piece with they key blade inside, try sliding the sleeve into the back piece with the key blade removed, then slide the key blade into the installed sleeve. Nothing special, I just take the back off the Grundig and Eton and take a look at the difference between the speakers and then do a quick sound comparison. There is a hidden screw underneath the label on the back. The Grundig has a 2.5 inch speaker and the older Eton has a 3 inch speaker. It's weird how the Eton sounds so much better in the higher frequencies.The Eton FR300 originally had a "soft-touch" fuzzy rubberized finish that sort of felt like very fine suede leather in your hands. Sadly, the rubber finish degraded over time to the point where the entire radio felt very sticky as if someone had coated it with glue. A thorough wipedown with 90% rubbing alcohol helped to gently remove the sticky residue without removing the paint or lettering - very time consuming though.
Grundig FR200 Radio - replace light bulb demotoob 2021-07-14 | Grundig FR200 Radio - light bulb change. Replacing the light bulb was kind of tricky. Everything seemed like it was going to break if I forced it but ultimately you kind of have to just kind of force it apart. The leads for the light bulb extend past the contacts and the excess wire is bent over so you have to straighten out (unbend) the leads in order to get the old bulb out. I don't think you have to actually take out the screws like I did. Be sure to not snug the bulb too tight to its mount because it needs to stick out a little bit in order to extend into the reflector. A spare bulb is included with the radio in a little slot once you pry up the flashlight assembly as you'll see.

The slightly larger Eton FR300 was made in the early 2000's and has a 3 inch speaker, while the Grundig FR200 was made in the mid 2010's and has a 2 1/2 inch speaker. The audio quality of the Eton is much better, especially in the high frequencies while the Grundig sounds a bit muffled and hollow. Fans of the Grundig love the shortwave bands and don't care so much about the audio quality. The Eton unfortunately has two obsolete analog TV bands which are now useless. The tuning is smoother with the Eton with less abrupt changes between stations.
