Arrows singer Alan Merrill and guitarist Jake Hooker introduce the clip. The Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band was formed in 1881. It is based in Brighouse, in Calderdale in West Yorkshire. History - Since January 1995, the band have practised at their purpose-built hall and music library called West Ridings at Brighouse High School on Finkil Street in the north of Brighouse near the A644. The band is not sponsored but relies on public subscriptions and fund raising. The Floral Dance - In November 1977, the band reached number 2 in the UK Singles Chart with their recording of "The Floral Dance", where they stayed for nine weeks, only surpassed at the time by "Mull of Kintyre" (the first UK single to sell more than 2 million copies, and third best selling UK single of all time). It was arranged for the band by Derek Broadbent. The b-side was a version of Debussy's "The Girl with the Flaxen Hair",although some copies had a composition by Broadbent entitled Bachelor Girls as it's b-side. The corresponding album, The Floral Dance reached to Number 10 in the UK Albums Chart.

Alan Merrill, Theo, Vodka Collins, solo acoustic bootcords 2008-03-15 | The first foreigner to be "big in Japan" in the Group Sounds scene in the late 1960s, Alan Merrill performs a solo acoustic version of "Theo" from his legendary Tokyo based band Vodka Collins' "Pink Soup" album. The song has also appeared on the Vodka Collins best of collection "Boys In The Band." This was filmed with my simple camera phone at the Mean Fiddler in New York City. February 16th, 2008. Vodka Collins were a Japanese supergroup, consisting of members of the biggest GS era Japanese pop groups, The Spiders, The Tigers and The Golden Cups. If he'd performed this underground classic in Japan the audience would be hanging on every word and nuance, but the New York arrested development college crowd were chattering away clearly not understanding what they were witnessing, since Alan Merrill is totally obscure in his home country, the USA. Arrows, Hard Hearted bootcords 2006-10-09 | Arrows do their 5th single, "Head Hearted" a song that the band's singer Alan Merrill referred to as an "Elvis after the army" period ballad. This song was written by Roger Ferris, who also wrote the band's hit ballad "My Last Night With You." The band wanted to make hard rock records but their label and producer insisted that the band record ballads. The band's most successful song ultimately was in fact "I love rock n roll," a hard rock song, so with hindsite the band were right. They should probably have been recording their own band composed hard rock songs all along.
