The X5DR and NS5R share a very similar version of the Ai2 engine with slightly different sample sets. However, the NS5R can load X5DR sounds, so of course I loaded my X5D soundset on it.The NS5R does a great job at providing a solid base with a fat analog style kick and a warm bass, while the X5DR, having a faster processor, deals with all the more intense stuff that requires more automation and oscillators.No samples and no individual external effects have been used. However, the post processing included heavy EQing (an 8 dB boost of the upper mids and highs) as well as the usual multiband compression and brickwall limiting. However, these didn't have a huge impact on the overall sound. It sounded fat from the source.Also the name...should be obvious. I don't care for the dogs, it's just a game with words. Just when I rediscovered Propellerhead's Rebirth RB-338 I thought hey, why not some 90s acid stuff? The Sirius sounds dirty after all. And what started as an arpeggiator based combi for jamming turned into an idea for a full song - entirely done on the Yamaha S90 ES (Motif ES) as my next entry to the single synth songs series. No external samples or sounds were used. The only non-pure experience is the PLG150-AN board inside the synth that creates a simple 303-like mid bass line in the background. However, to recreate the song authentically you don't necessarily need this.Postprocessing only includes a bit of EQing and a brickwall limiter. JayB - Trance Live Performance #8 Opus In D Minor JayB 2019-11-19 | DOWNLOAD: http://www.jaybmusic.net/download.php?id=99(Clean and properly synced version.)This took me about 20 takes to record. It's not perfect (I admit I had to edit a little part) but I got fed up after hearing the song constantly for two hours. Also my secondary camera failed in the middle of the track. For whatever reason.Unlike the previous ones this time it's again only one screen, one person and only little help of the DAW to trigger my arpeggiators (mainly drums and bass in the beginning) for them to stay in sync as well as creation of MIDI clock and toggling the Kross's Drum Track and step sequencer. Filter control is done by foot pedal and modulation wheel.The signal chain is quite interesting in this one:The DAW (Logic Pro) creates a MIDI clock for all instruments. It sends SysEx data to the Kross 2 to turn off and on drum track and mute the step sequencer and plays a single note twice to start the MIDI synced internal arpeggiator and drum track in time. Yamaha QY100 syncs to the MIDI clock and plays a pattern with MIDI data for the Quasimidi Sirius containing all sorts of backing tracks. The Sirius' audio is routed into the S90 ES which mixes it into the arpeggiated main lead, pad and piano. The S90's output is routed into the Korg Kross 2's audio input where it is mixed with the main drums (coming from the Drum Track and Step Sequencer) and bass line (arpeggiator) and fed into a side-chain compressor to get the necessary pumping effect. In the end only the Kross's output gets recorded. Afterwards some transition FX were added and the whole thing went through a mastering chain. The result is a fat pumping trance track full of arps and energy. But actually when I started making a remix of One and One two years ago while waiting for an appointment he actually was still alive. I worked on the instrumental from time to time but this took longer than expected. Finding a singer was difficult too as I didn't want to sing myself. Luckily Menito Ramos contacted me for a collaboration and his voice met my expectations perfectly. It's not exactly his tonal range but for this recording he voluntarily ruined his voice to properly hit the lower notes. ;)I hope you like this deep housish version of One and One by Robert Miles. The instrumental was entirely done with Garageband on an iPad Air 2 with no additional synthesizers. Vocals were arranged in Logic Pro X. Tangerine Dream - Tangram (Quichotte) [JayB Remix Bootleg] JayB 2018-09-29 | DOWNLOAD: http://www.jaybmusic.net/download.php?id=96When I was a child my father gave me his old turntable together with a few vinyls he thought I might be interested in. Among these there was one with a weird looking cover featuring an orange and some cables. I was called "Quichotte" by a band named "Tangerine Dream". I didn't know anything about these but the music immediately hooked me up. Arps and pads and electronic rhythms composing this out-of-this-world atmosphere. Later I found out that it was a live concert from 1980, the only time the band performed in the former GDR, and obviously it was based on their album "Tangram". Now, 20 years later, I decided I'd pay them a tribute. The song was remixed by Daniel Kandi, Kay Stone and Gabriele Menten.Probably no one knew that there was a pressing of ten(!) 12" vinyls for promotional purposes containing the Daniel Kandi remix on side A and the Original Dub Mix as well as the Kay Stone remix on side B. I happen to have one of them and I won't give it away. It's my...precioussssssssssss...But I wanted to share this for a long time. It's something else having your song on a vinyl record.BTW, the record player is a DUAL DJT 301.1. And I spent the past time creating some new sounds. No huge updates but some useful sounds. Also I created quite some new demo tracks. Others are older, and a few were updated.These demo clips were recorded in program or combi mode and layered in software. Kicks, FX and other drums are software too, except for when UnivDrKit is used (excluding the kick). Occasionally there's been some EQing and in very rare cases additional reverb. Also dynamics and mastering was applied.This sound set is 100% compatible with Korg X5D and X5DR. It works with X5 and 05R/W too but not all sounds work.
