Found this fantastic cocktail recipe on punchdrinks.com and had to make it. It takes on the original Miami Vice Cocktail but with a New Orleans based Cane & Table spin.
In general, I am not a big fan of frozen cocktails, but in this case, I love the settled taste and light sip from this Miami Vice version. The final result is impressive by splitting the base with White Rum and Aged Dark Rum. Not to mention the Coconut Cream recipe as it is so yummy.

Cane & Table's Miami Vice Cocktail Recipe | Just Shake or Stir
#cocktailvideos #justshakeorstir #cocktailrecipesThe Old Fashioned: You Are Doing It WrongThe Moody Bartender2026-09-16 | The Old Fashioned is one of the simplest cocktails ever made. Whiskey. Sugar. Bitters. Water.
So why have we become obsessed with making it faster, smoother and more “consistent”?
Today I’m going back to the classic Old Fashioned and making it the way I’ve always preferred it — with Sugar rather than Sugar Syrup.
And yes… this might annoy a few bartenders.
Sugar Syrup is faster. It’s easier. And in a busy bar, I completely understand why it’s used.
But does every sip of an Old Fashioned really need to taste exactly the same?
In this episode, I make both versions side by side, look at where the Old Fashioned actually came from, and explain why sometimes efficiency behind the bar doesn’t necessarily mean a better drinking experience.
I’m not saying you should never use syrup.
I’m saying:
Make the classic first.
Understand it.
Then start changing it.
Let me know in the comments — Sugar or Sugar Syrup?
CLASSIC OLD FASHIONED
60 ml / 2 oz Bourbon or Rye Whiskey 1 Sugar Cube or 1 tsp Sugar 2–3 dashes Angostura Bitters (i prefer 6- 8 dashes) Small splash of Water Orange Zest
Add the Sugar, Bitters and Water to the glass and gently muddle.
Add the Whiskey and Ice, then stir until chilled and appropriately diluted.
Express the Orange Zest over the drink and garnish.
Cheers.

You don’t need a huge home bar, complicated ingredients or homemade syrups to make a great bourbon cocktail. In this video, I’m making three easy bourbon drinks that showcase three completely different sides of the whiskey — from a simple highball to a fresh, shaken cocktail, and finally a bold, bitter classic.
We start ridiculously easy with Bourbon & Ginger, move on to the three-ingredient Gold Rush, and finish with the Boulevardier — essentially taking the familiar Negroni structure and replacing the gin with bourbon.
And along the way, there’s a bonus fourth drink hiding in there too… because once you understand the Gold Rush, you’re not far away from a Whiskey Sour.
BOURBON & GINGER
50 ml / 1.7 oz Bourbon 100–120 ml / 3.5–4 oz Ginger Ale Fresh lime wedge
Build over ice in a highball glass, top with ginger ale and finish with a squeeze of fresh lime.
GOLD RUSH
60 ml / 2 oz Bourbon 22.5 ml / 0.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice 22.5 ml / 0.75 oz Honey Syrup
Shake everything with ice and strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass. Garnish with a lemon peel if you like.
BOULEVARDIER
30 ml / 1 oz Bourbon 30 ml / 1 oz Campari 30 ml / 1 oz Sweet Vermouth
Stir everything with ice until properly chilled and diluted. Strain over a large cube and finish with an orange peel.

Peach cocktails seem to be everywhere at the moment, so rather than simply adding another Peach Pisco Sour recipe, I wanted to try something different.
I made a delicate white peach syrup using a 3-day cold maceration, then tested it with three very different Barsol Piscos:
Barsol Quebranta Barsol Italia Barsol Mosto Verde Torontel
Same peach. Same lime/lemon juice. Same proportions. Different Pisco.
And the difference between the three was much bigger than you might expect.
In this episode I taste them side by side, look at how each Pisco changes the peach, acidity and overall balance, pick my favourite, and then use the winner to make the final Peach Pisco Sour.
Peach Pisco Sour 45 ml / 1.5 oz Barsol Pisco Quebranta 30 ml / 1 oz Lime/Lemon Juice 22.5 ml / .75 oz White Peach Syrup 1 Egg White
Adjust the peach syrup depending on the sweetness and intensity of your own syrup.
I made my white peach syrup using cold maceration rather than cooking the fruit. You can find the full method over on @MixologyHacks
If you try this with another Pisco, let me know which one you use and how it turns out.

Get vidIQ to grow your channel faster! 🚀 vidiq.com/GeorgiPetrovI Replaced Campari in a Negroni. Here’s What HappenedThe Moody Bartender2026-09-05 | What happens to a Negroni when you take away the Campari?
The classic Negroni is beautifully simple: gin, sweet vermouth and Campari in equal parts. But Campari brings a huge amount of the drink’s bitterness, sweetness and character — so replacing it can completely change the cocktail.
In this episode, I’m making three Negronis using three very different Campari substitutes:
Luxardo Bitter Bianco Bitterol Aperitivo — a £6 bottle from Lidl Vecchio Amaro del Capo
Same gin. Same sweet vermouth. Same ratio. One ingredient changes.
Bitter Bianco Version 30 ml / 1 oz London Dry Gin 30 ml / 1 oz Bitter Bianco 30 ml / 1 oz Sweet Vermouth Orange peel
Bitterol Version 30 ml / 1 oz London Dry Gin 30 ml / 1 oz Bitterol 30 ml / 1 oz Sweet Vermouth Orange peel
Amaro Version 30 ml / 1 oz London Dry Gin 30 ml / 1 oz Vecchio Amaro Di Capo 30 ml / 1 oz Sweet Vermouth Orange peel
Stir with ice until properly chilled and diluted, strain over a large piece of ice and finish with orange peel.
Rather than simply making three variations, I’m digging into what each bottle actually does to the drink: how the bitterness changes, what happens to the sweetness and herbal character, how the ingredients work with the gin and vermouth, and most importantly…
Does it still taste like a Negroni?
I’ve played with alternative bitters before when I made my Red, White & Green Negronis. This time we’re going deeper into why these substitutions produce such different drinks.
And yes, the £6 Lidl bottle surprised me.
If you’re ready for a shake, stir and sip — let’s make some Negronis.

Three ingredients: Gin, Campari and Sweet Vermouth. Equal parts. Simple enough — yet we seem determined to keep reinventing it.
In this first proper episode of The Moody Bartender, I’m going back to the classic Negroni and looking at why those three ingredients work so well together, what each one actually brings to the drink, and why temperature and dilution matter just as much as what you pour into the mixing glass.
I’m not against Negroni variations. I’ve made plenty of them over the years. But before changing a classic, it helps to understand what you’re changing — and why.
Classic Negroni 30 ml / 1 oz London Dry Gin 30 ml / 1 oz Campari Bitter 30 ml / 1 oz Sweet Vermouth Orange peel
Stir with ice until properly chilled and diluted, strain over a large piece of ice and finish with orange peel.
And yes, after spending this entire video telling you the Negroni doesn’t need fixing, on Saturday I’m replacing the Campari with three very different bitter aperitivos.
One of them costs £6 from Lidl.
That should upset somebody.
How do you make your Negroni? Equal parts, or do you change the ratio? Let me know in the comments.

The Fra Bastiano CocktailThe Moody Bartender2026-06-07 | The Fra’ Bastiano is a cocktail created by Matteo Zed and featured in his book The Big Book of Amaro. Inspired by the legendary Gold Rush, this drink pays tribute to the late Sasha Petraske, the visionary founder of the iconic New York cocktail bar Milk & Honey and one of the most influential figures in the modern cocktail movement.
According to Matteo Zed, the original inspiration comes from the Gold Rush created by bartender T.J. Siegal at Milk & Honey—a beautifully simple combination of bourbon, honey, and fresh lemon juice. The Fra’ Bastiano builds on that foundation by introducing Amaro Montenegro and ginger, creating a cocktail with greater depth, complexity, and a bittersweet Italian character.
For my version, I’ve taken the recipe one step further and swapped the bourbon for a rye whisky, adding a spicier profile that works beautifully with the herbal notes of Amaro Montenegro, the richness of honey, and the brightness of fresh lemon juice.
In this video, I’ll show you exactly how to make the Fra’ Bastiano, share my tasting notes, and explain why this modern amaro cocktail deserves a place in every bartender’s and home mixologist’s repertoire.

#rhubarb #cocktail #bartenderTHE LATE SHIFT - Perfect Cocktail to Unwind after a long dayThe Moody Bartender2025-06-14 | After a long shift, The Late Shift is the drink you deserve — clean, cool, and quietly confident. This cocktail blends the bold West Coast spirit of Still G.I.N. by Dre & Snoop with the herbal complexity of Bitter Bianco and the crisp, minty lift of Menthe Pastille.
Aromatic and fresh on the nose, with juniper, citrus and fruity notes from the gin shining first. The Bitter Bianco adds soft floral bitterness and depth, while the Menthe Pastille brings a cool, silky finish — like a deep breath after a long day. It’s minty, mellow, and perfectly balanced.
The Still G.I.N. is the debut spirit from hip-hop legends Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg — a modern American gin that pays tribute to their iconic “Still D.R.E.” legacy. Distilled with West Coast botanicals and crafted to represent the same smooth confidence they bring to music, this gin is all about chilling in style and celebrating life after the hustle.
Whether you’re a bartender unwinding after service or just looking for a new go-to evening drink, The Late Shift hits all the right notes. Elegant, simple, and soulful — this one’s for the industry folks and the flavor seekers.
