Orbiter Extruder Heatbreak Setup TutorialFrank Gore2021-02-13 | A quick description of how I setup the filament path on an original Orbiter extruder using the recommended thread-in heatbreak.

This spacer kit allows me to final-tighten down the castle nuts to 60 ft-lbs, rather than the typical 12 ft-lb+backing off to the nearest cotter pin hole. As a result, the spindle is pulled more tightly, the inner bearing races are locked in place, and the end play is a fixed constant at an ideal amount (0.0008" in this case). All of this supposedly results in more precise steering and less bearing wear over time. I noticed the more precise steering immediately, but I wondered about the bearing wear and whether the end play was maybe a little too tight. So I took the caliper off and checked how well it's wearing in after 3000 miles of spirited driving.Another Timelapse ExperimentFrank Gore2021-03-25 | These are becoming fun to make!Opening and Closing Doors with Printed Door CatchesFrank Gore2021-02-23 | Check out this riveting footage of me opening and closing my 3D printer's doors to illustrate the function of the printed catches I designed!
