Rez Infinite on Oculus Quest 2 - No commentary. BenwaysWorld 2021-10-27 | I *was* doing commentary while recording this, but unlike when playing VRChat, the mic on the Quest doesn't seem to be active when recording Rez... so none of the commentary got recorded. I'm uploading here, in case I get a strike or copyright flags. If it doesn't cause any problems, I'll probably add the video as bonus footage at the end of a normal video on my main channel.
A Day Out In Derbyshire BenwaysWorld 2021-07-12 | We went for a drive. Initially we went to a carboot sale (which I misspelled as a 'Barboot sale' in the video... DOH!), somewhere in the middle of I don't know where. We then went on to Matlock, and Matlock Bath, where we would have stopped, but couldn't find anywhere to park. The plan next was to go on to Bakewell, but I missed the turning, so Jo, knowing the area, suggested we went to Crich Tramway Village, which was in same neck of the woods. I last went to Crich in 1977, so it was a serious nostalgia trip in more ways than one, to revisit the place. It has to be said that some of the hills we encountered were a serious challenge for my little 1100cc Fiat Panda, but I think it was probably the most enjoyable drive of my life, and we both utterly enjoyed the day out :)

I could watch them for hours, just doing their thing. Right now, they're collecting fallen acorns and storing them away in holes that they've dug in the grass.

A selection of my favourite shots from the photography degree module I recently completed. I scored 57%, which is a pass, and if it were the final score, would be a 2:2. Not great, but not terrible either. I'm happy enough with it, given how badly I thought I'd done.The camera I used is a Canon EOS 1300D.The street photography was shot in Sheffield, while the church that appears quite a lot is The Priory Church in Worksop. The ruined building in a field is a 'waterhouse'... (a pumping station?) in Creswell, near The Crags. The shots by a lake are at Rutland Water.

A Big Dog Through A Small Hole BenwaysWorld 2016-01-03 | This is Bailey, our (not as stupid as he looks) Polish Hound.We have a utility room, just off of our kitchen, where among other things, we store our pet food. The door to this room is kept closed to keep the dogs out, and away from all the pet food. However, one pane of glass has been removed from the door to allow our cats through, as the utility room is where they eat, unhindered by the dogs.Recently, we noticed that the cat food was disappearing at a much more rapid rate than normal, and suspected a neighbour's cat or cats were coming in while we weren't looking. Nope.We only discovered the culprit when Bailey went wandering into the bathroom (next to the utility room) while my wife was in the shower.For the purposes of this video, a small treat was left on the floor of the utility room, just to give Bailey an incentive to come through while I had the camera ready. We usually discourage him, and he was in no way forced or coerced through the small hole.
200 mph dashcam. Worksop to Towcester and back. BenwaysWorld 2015-11-21 | Travelling from Worksop to Towcester and back again. It's not very precise, but that's about 100 miles each way. Compressed down to about an hour... that makes 200 miles in an hour.The plan had been to head down to Milton Keynes the day before, to attend my Dad's funeral, (condolences not necessary or wanted.... it's complicated), spend the night in nearby Towcester, and then meet my sister the next day. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to get to Milton Kenes on the day, but decided I was still going to meet my sister, even though I'd missed the funeral.Normally I'd travel down the M1 motorway all the way to Northampton, and then go along the A508 through Roade to Old Stratford.I've come to dislike that route though, as the roundabout on the junction 15 exit is a nightmare.This time, I got off significantly earlier, at Junction 18, which allowed me to pick up the A5 (a road I have a significant sentimental attachment to... yeah, how odd to be attached to a road) south of Weedon and Pattishall. (These are also places I have a sentimental attachment to).So I got to Towcester early and had a walk around all the places I remember from when I was a kid. I lived there till November '77, and though I consider myself as coming from Milton Keynes, this town is probably the place I most belong. If my Dad has a ghost, this is where it lives. Much has changed around the town, but much is the same. There was no point where I didn't know exactly where I was, and no point where I couldn't look at a bunch of buildings, (or lack of them) and see them exacly as they'd been in '77.Going back to Deanshanger (where my family moved to when we left Towcester) feels like going back to the scene of a crime. Going back to Towcester feels like walking around a half remembered dream. It's a very odd sensation.So, I spent 5 hours driving to spend an hour and a half with my sister and for a walk around a town filled with family ghosts. I have to say, it was worth every moment.And Doh! That'll teach me not to watch the whole thing through before rendering and uploading. There's a repeated segment on the return journey between around 15:30 - 15:36 on the dashcam clock. Oh well.

The light is lovely in paces, there's some nice countryside and a very quaint village.The music is a half speed version of Almost In F by Kevin MacLeod, with addded vinyl crackle. It's very dreamlike and relaxing.

Probably not relaxing to drive, but I find it very relaxing to watch.Occasional edits are when the car was stationary for a while, or the camera produced blank footage after saving a file.1:38:35 Crazy drivers in Lincolnshire don't know how to use a roundabout.In the last 20- 30 minutes, the camera switches to a high ISO setting, to compensate for the low light. The grainy, low framerate footage is quite mesmerising and dreamlike.

BenwaysWorld 2015-01-29 | Only my second attempt at flying my Syma X6 quadcopter, this time in the snow, and it was, to be honest, far from successful. There was a lot of wind, which kept pushing the thing off course and towards the brooks on either side of the field, prompting me to drop the thing out of the sky rather than lose it in the water.Of course, it being a snowy day, the lense predictably got covered with snow, leaving the camera effectively blind.So while I actually flew the copter for about 5 minutes, I only managed to record around 50 seconds of usable footage.

To be honest, this doesn't work very well, and the pictures it takes are often anything but a smiling face. Usually when shooting a video, I can expect to find zero to half a dozen stills on the memory card, along with the video footage. Today, however, I found tons of them. Over a hundred. I haven't bothered to count.Anyway... I decided "waste not, want not" and so rather than just delete them, I strung them together, added some music, and rendered them as a video. There's no real point to it... it just is what it is.
Walking Around Lincoln BenwaysWorld 2014-11-18 | I took a walk around Lincoln, going up Steep Hill, around Lincoln Cathederal and back down for a walk around the Marina. I really love the architecture in old towns like this, and even though Steep Hill is a killer to walk up, it's a real experience not to be missed. While it might be hard work, the quaint olde style shops are fantastic.
