The road is unnumbered (so far) and instead just called 'road' between Kardhiq and Sarandë. Sarandë is a popular tourist destination in the South of Albania, situated on the Adriatic coast. The road connects to the SH4 more inland, and features a mountain pass including tunnel. Since I already drove the corridor Como - Lugano many times, I wanted to try a different route and border crossing this time. Varese is a larger city in the Italian Alps not far from the border with Switzerland. There is a short section of Autostrada to the Southeast of the city, the A60, which is tolled via video or tag. After that we continue on some regional roads to Switzerland. The I-9 is notorious for clogging up during the touristic season. This was filmed outside of the touristic season and you can already see the traffic, mostly due to slow trucks and tourbuses. It's planned that the A5 will be extended and ultimately form a continuous motorway along the Bulgarian coast, connecting Burgas in the South with the border of Romania in the North. It's however not a priority project. So far there is only a short stretch of A5 just South of Varna leading into the city. These are some of the busiest roads in Portugal, forming in part the inner bypass of the center of Lisbon, Portugal's capital. Right after Alverca do Ribatejo, where the A9 CREL feeds into the A1, there is a large toll station before entering the capital area. It's impressive how dense this network of highways is around Lisbon. One of the most impressive moments is crossing the Ponte Abril 25 South of Lisbon, it very much reminds of the Golden Gate Bridge. It's a massive suspension bridge across the Tejo river, close where it ends into the Atlantic. The I-78 offers some of the most beautiful views of the NYC skyline as you can see in the thumbnail and throughout the video. It ends at the old Holland Tunnel, where traffic merges and squeezes onto the dense island of Manhattan, New York. It was kind of surreal to be driving in NYC to be honest, but a very cool experience despite all the traffic. A part of the S7 in Austria's Burgenland region opened in 2024 until Dobersdorf, you can see it here: youtube.com/watch?v=TDa0z3I4jEgUltimately the S7 is to bypass Dobersdorf and connect directly to the M80 at the border with Hungary. The M80 has been finished for some time, the last part of the S7 on the Austrian side remains under construction. Interestingly the M80 in Hungary was built as a 1 x 1 with seemingly no future expansion plans taken into consideration. Many overpasses are built to just fit the 1 x 1 alignment and not a future 2 x 2. Imabari is one of the larger cities on Ehime although it has a shrinking population. I can recommend visiting Imabari castle. The Kurushima strait separates Ehime from mainland Japan (Honshu). The Kurushima Strait Bridge leads traffic across the strait, which is a marvel of engineering. At the time of opening, it was the world's longest suspension bridge. The Shipka Pass is one of Bulgaria's most scenic pass roads and provides access to the Shipka Monument. Buzludzha is also reachable from the pass but there is an alternative route from Kazanluk that is better. In general I like this route better than the more eastern route which is the standard between Veliko Tarnovo and the South. The A50 is one of the more important corridors in the Netherlands that does not correspond to a European route. Arnhem is a city with over 150.000 inhabitants, Eindhoven is the country's 5th largest city with almost 300.000 inhabitants. In some places the A50 is as wide as 4 lanes in each direction, for instance between the interchanges with A15 and A73. Here the A50 crosses the Waal river. I have featured bits and pieces of the A50 on the channel before, but never the whole distance between Arnhem and Eindhoven. This time in an electric vehicle, in case you are wondering why the ride sounds more quiet than usual ;-) The B258 is quite a scenic Bundesstraße that runs through the Eifel national park and passes by beautiful towns such as Monschau. The B51 is more of an expressway and fairly busy in comparison, mainly also because the A1 gap was never completed in this region. In this video too, I had a minor focus issue. This is in part due to the weather conditions (low hanging sun) and the different car with a different windshield and reflections. Driving in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, USA: Interstate I-676 & I-76 Philadelphia Orbital Niels on the Road 2025-06-15 | In this video you can ride along on Interstate Highways I-676 and I-76 in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, USA. Together these highways form some kind of orbital beltway around Philadelphia, as the city sits right on the border between the two states. Philadelphia is the largest city in Pennsylvania and has a decent skyline. I had visited the city before and just spent 2 days there to visit some of the historical sites I hadn't seen before. It's famous for the liberty bell for instance. Some highlights are both Delaware river crossings. First in the video is the Walt Whitman Bridge, a suspension bridge opened in 1957 with a total length of 3.562 meters. Driving in Germany: Autobahn A73 from Suhl to Coburg Niels on the Road 2025-06-14 | In this video you can ride along on Autobahn A73 from Suhl to Coburg in central-east Germany. Normally you see Autobahns from the West of Germany on the channel since that is where I usually drive, but very occasionally I also drive out East and last time I made sure to film some of the beautiful stretches of road there. The A73 runs from Nürnberg in the South to Suhl in the North (Thüringen), where it connects to the A71, which continues further North. Both the A71 and A73 are quite scenic Autobahns that cross some interesting landscapes. The hay days of Suhl were definitely before the fall of the iron curtain. Driving in Spain: Autovía V-15 & CV-500 from València to Sueca Niels on the Road 2025-06-11 | In this video you can ride along on Autovía V-15 and regional road CV-500 from Valencia to Sueca in the East of Spain. Valencia, Spain's 3rd largest city, is a beautiful mix of old and new. Starting this drive around the city of arts and sciences designed by Calatrava, I made sure to circle around once more to get some more views. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great on this particular day as we wanted to check out some of the beaches South of Valencia. Following the highway out of the city it soon flows into the CV-500 coastal road to some of the resorts South of Valencia. On the right you can see many of the rice fields. Driving in Bulgaria: Avtomagistrala A4 E80 [Maritsa] from Dimitrovgrad to Svilengrad Niels on the Road 2025-06-08 | In this video you can ride along on Avtomagistrala A4 E80 from Dimitrovgrad to Svilengrad in the Southeast of Bulgaria. The Maritsa motorway was completed pretty much a decade ago and branches off the A1 Trakia motorway in Bulgaria. The A4 connects the heart of Bulgaria with the border of Türkiye in the southeast.
