How to fix the issue:

1. Restart Safari
Go to Safari in the menu bar and then choose Quit Safari.
To force quit Safari, press Command-Option-Esc.

2. Clear Safari cache and cookies
Go to Safari settings and navigate to the Advanced tab. Select the box "Show features for web developers." Now go to the Develop menu in the Menu bar and click Empty Caches.

To delete your cookies:

1. Go back to Safari settings.
2. Go to the Privacy tab — Manage Website Data.
3. Click Remove All.

3. Manage your Safari extensions
In Safari settings, go to Extensions and uninstall those you don’t need right now.
Restart Safari.

4. Reduce the number of open tabs
Bookmark the links you don’t want to lose and close the rest of tabs.
