Best of Demetori (Part 3) Yumi Sakata 2025-08-21 | Part 3 and most likely the finale of the "Best of Demetori" series!!!90min of hand-picked favorites across the whole discography, including the most recent release "寂光寂滅 ～ The Truth of the Cessation of Dukkha"!Demetori has always been a part of my touhou journey, and continues to influence me as a listener, and as an arranger to this day. I was so excited when I heard that they were gonna release an album at C101 and the album didn't disappoint. But at the same time, its hard not to think the album is also a final farewell. Many circles enter and exit the doujin scene, and Demetori has been in the game since 2005. Almost two decades. As much as I'd want the brothers to drop more and more touhou metal, I'd also be ok if this were their last. For this arrangement, I tried to take that to the forefront by having an obvious 2 part song. The first part being more an intense black metal section to reflect Kogasa's nature to scare people (cuz black metal scary 😱), and the second part being more post/atmospheric to reflect Kogasa's feelings after failing to scare anyone. 【Genshin Metal】Mavuika: Blazing Heart || Metal Cover (feat. @DemonicCherub ) Yumi Sakata 2025-01-09 | The new year is starting off with some heat! Pure fire from the pyro archon herself. The song from her trailer did not need to go THAT hard. And when the vocals came in, it was already too late for me. Compared to the other archon character demo covers I've done, this one was relatively straight-forward. I'm not sweating bullets hitting the replay button a million times to figure out every little instrumental part. It's cool to see a more stripped down instrumentation in genshin trailers. Even so, it didn't sacrifice any quality in producing a hit. I had plans to "speedrun" this cover like many other cover artists I know, but I knew what I did required vocals. Basically it came to, "Oh yeah, I can't sing lol. Lemme get someone on this right now". Luckily, I am fortunate enough to be friends with an amazing vocalist, Nocturne, who graciously provided me with some killer vocal takes. In the end, I took a little more time on this one because I wanted to make her vocals shine on this cover. I hope you enjoy the end result!I am ashamed to admit, I broke F2P for Mavuika. Yeah, some of that reason is the Hu Tao skin, but still, Genshin made her too freaking good to pass up on. And the bike lol, truly we are living in donut gameplay. The end result is me getting her to C1 and her signature weapon (mailed flower ain't cutting it). I hope that the C1 will open up alot of teams for her because, the only Natlan character I have is Kinich. Either way, it'll be a good excuse to unbench all my cryo units (sry Ayaka). 【Touhou Metal】Vampiric Cryptid Chupacabra Yumi Sakata 2024-02-03 | FINALLY! A Touhou 19 arrangement. In trying to figure out which theme to do, time passed significantly. I played a lot of Unfinished Dream of All Living Ghost but never took the time to choose a theme. But now, it is done. Chiyari Tenkajin's theme is really cool. It's got that ZUN chromatic off-kilter intro he loves doing into a very melodic main hook. That chromatic part is played in 2 different ways in the song, which allows me to change up the context regarding arranging. Aka, fun stuff. This track also is a nod to an old band project I was in. The style of riffs is taken from those works and put into touhou. Very different from my usually style. I'm very personally attached to touhou 6, both in its music, and gameplay. 【Genshin Metal】Furina: All the Worlds a Stage || Metal Cover Yumi Sakata 2023-11-11 | THIS SONG, OMG THIS FREAKIN SONG. Amazing!!! Probably one of the most creative and entertaining character demo videos period. On the flipside, this wacky and crazy song became the hardest Genshin music to arrange. Not only is it the longest demo I've remixed so far, but its also the most musically obtuse. Quick switches from dotted notes to triplets, chromatic passing notes, and crazy piano and string lines. Transposing this took some major time and listening to the demo for hrs. Honestly almost gave up halfway through. Didn't think this demo track could be metalfied. I had to make some bold arrangement choices. Some maybe you'll like, some that will absolutely confuse you. The result before you is absolute chaos. But, maybe you like chaos lol.Opinions on Furina? I liked since Day 1 of her being teased in 4.0. She was on the MUST PULL list for sure. Her character/personality is extremely entertaining and kept the Fontaine storyline interesting. And with that 4.2 story, man... brings the emotions.I pulled for Furina: I was guaranteed and got her in the first x10 pull.
