As I grew up and spent my younger years near, and in SE Washington D.C. So tgis was an easy choice. The 80s were a tumultuous time for the city but we that hung out there loved it dearly. I stayed close to D.C. and gome vs moving away for college. So in this challenge I tried to fuse some of the Go Go rhythms that were a big part of the local music scene. I have the Reface DX playing a heavy bass part while the Moog Grandmother drones. Tried to get a little bounce going with the rhythm and bongos. We would hammer beats on the car hoods at nightime in the same style. Not pure Go Go but its definitely implied. I cranked that swing up on the Drumbrute 🔥. The ContinuuMini is again doing a textural drone.Great practice and fun as always. Decided to go another route ultimately. I attempted to use chorusing and micro-detuning to get a really full and interesting sound in the Minifreak. Eventide Pitchfactor adds additional micropitch. The ContinuuMini is unquantized and has a lovely odd out of tune vibe.And yeah the crackles appear to be me pushing the Moog pedal a little too hard. Gives it a vintage vibe.. Great practice and fun as always. The Moog Subharmonicon is hard to sync and tune so I needed about 15 minutes prior to make sure I had an idea what key it was in. I guess i sorta had a sequence so maybe a teeny bit disqualified. 👀This is probably the hardest challenge due to the starting from scratch and having no idea where it would go.
