2023 animation reel | Happy New Years! (Read desc.) CicadaWolf 2023-12-31 | Happy New Year!I'm gonna be honest, 2023 was a rough year for me. It's been up and down in terms of my mental health, but somehow I made it out of 2023 better than I was when I entered it (At least, most of the time lol). It wasn't easy, and at times I thought that I wouldn't be able to survive another day, much less the whole year. But I did it, and I think that's something I can be proud of. I also feel like I've improved as an artist, especially with animation. I focused most on animation this year and I think it's paid off; I know how to tween, draw characters in 3/4 view, and make backgrounds that don't suck haha. It takes longer, but the end products are better, and that makes it worth it. In 2024, I will continue to grow and change, not just as an artist but also as a person. I want to learn how to use more procreate features to create better artwork, and work on shading in my animations. I want to be more confident and less afraid of things I can't control, as well as take more chances in life.Thank you to everyone who has supported me with subscriptions, likes and comments. I never thought my channel would reach 100 subscribers and now we're about to hit 200!! Y'all have outdone my expectations and always supported when I need it most, and I really appreciate that. Now, she's starting to realize how much her kindness has been taken advantage of. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------after 271817372881 bajillion years it's finally done!!! I'm super proud of this and I hope you guys enjoy it! Squirrelflight is one of my favorite characters and I'm happy to make yet another animation about her haha! it's not perfect (the background in the fire scene is just bland and empty) but I still think I did good overall. breakdown of what happens:"The capillaries in my eyes are bursting"--i showed it happening literally, if you've never heard of this google it! Its when a blood vessel pops in the eye basically. Very weird. "If our love dies would that be the worst thing"--basically the lyrics!"For somebody I thought was my savior, you sure make me do a whole lot of labor"--squilf realizing shes idolized bramble way too much, and that he doesn't return her feelings. "The calluses on my hands are cracking. If our love died would that be a bad thing?"--again literally, with her skin on her paw pads actually cracking. She starts to question why shes worked so hard for a guy who doesn't even listen to her. "And the silence haunts are bed chamber. You make me do too much labor"--yet, she continues to stay with him, because shes basically trapped there. She can't leave him, because he'd demote her. And her clanmates would probably isolate her again, like in otts/ late po3. She'd have to leave her whole life behind for it to stop. "Therapist"--all shes ever done is be there for leafpool, despite leafpool lying about her being barren, and basically making her take the kits. Shes always let leafpool tell her things no other cat knows; hence, shes a therapist to her."Mother, maid"--self explanatory"Nymph then a virgin"--showing the cycle of abuse, and how they could be viciously fighting one book and fine the next. Its an exhausting, awful cycle."Nurse then a servant"--just squilf basically lying to everyone and risking being exiled if it ever got out, to help her sister. "Just an appendage, live to attend him, so that he never lifts a finger"--she feels like she doesn't get fair say in clan politics, because Bramblestar will push off her ideas without actually considering them. This was especially a problem in Squirrelflight's Hope. "24/7 baby machine, so he can live out his picket fence dreams"--the lyrics dont fit perfectly, but this was supposed to show how bramble never really interacted with Alderheart and Sparkpelt outside of prophecy concerns. I can think of one time where hes actually a dad to Alderheart but other than that? Not really. "It's not an act of love if you make her"--her yelling this to ashfur, because he feels like he deserves Squirrelflight, and that he's doing her a favor by trying over and over and over again to be with her. When in reality, it was never about love, it was about obsession, and ashfur isnt doing anything to help her. Hence, its not an act of love if you make her. Phew! That was certainly a wall of text.
