The final evolution of the Maxim-Nordenfelt 1-Pounder "Pom-Pom" of the 1880s, the QF 2-pounder Mk.VIII was introduced into Royal Navy service in 1930 as an advanced close-in aerial defence weapon. While the Mk.VIII was already becoming obsolescent by the time the Second World War broke out, continual improvements in ammunition and fire direction technology allowed it to serve with distinction through the rest of the conflict and into the 1950s.

![H&R M4 Survival Rifle: Handy But Short-Lived
[If it’s not one thing, it’s another. While I finally got the rifle to work, my camera lens iced over during the shoot. I will likely remake this video completely in the spring].
Introduced in USAF and RCAF service in 1949, the short-lived M4 was a bolt-action magazine-fed rifle chambered in .22 hornet, designed to telescope down to fit in ejection seat survival kits. Its purpose was to allow aircrew downed in wilderness areas to forage for small game.
