Jonathan Hadson Mjema │ Action Africa Yara International 2022-01-12 | Jonathan comes from the tight-knit village of Ngasini in the Kilimanjaro region, Tanzania. An active community member, Jonathan mobilizes everyone to work together for the greater good of the community. And as a farmer, he takes his role very serious as they rely on his annual harvest.On average, Jonathan harvests 22-23 sacks of rice, but this past year he has seen a huge increase thanks to the Action Africa initiative. And after harvesting more than 30 sacks, there has been a tremendous increase in produce for the community. Anastancia Were Kulundu │ Action Africa Yara International 2022-01-06 | Anastancia works Monday through Friday as an Administrative Assistant in Kakamega town, Kenya. On the evenings and Saturdays, she works at the family farm to make sure everything is running properly and that the harvest has been stored well, while also dealing with problems that may arise.Anastancia works to ensure there is money for the family and food on the table. And with her daughter in college and son who will soon be joining her, the farm plays many roles in her life. It not only provides food, it is also a source of income and a connection between her and her parents. It is also key to securing her children's future.Even though she is an attentive farmer, Anastancia has experienced barriers to success including access to fertilizer. Often she risks not having enough money to buy fertilizer when she needs it. Yara Birkelands Voyage from Horten to Oslo Yara International 2021-11-19 | We are proud to announce that Yara Birkeland, the world's first fully electric and soon to be autonomous container vessel with zero emissions is ready to be put into operation in 2022!With key collaboration from KONGSBERG, VARD and Enova SF, this project shows how through join efforts, we have developed a world-leading innovation that contributes to the green shift. To celebrate the momentous occasion, Yara Birkeland set sail on November 18th from Horten to Oslo for it's first and only visit where partners and key stakeholders experienced the ship first-hand and learned more about the process behind this great achievement.More about Yara Birkeland below.Yara and technology company KONGSBERG teamed up with the ambition to build the world's first autonomous and zero-emission container vessel.With the aim of reducing diesel-powered truck haulage by 40,000 journeys a year, Yara Birkeland will reduce NOx and CO2 emissions, improve road safety, reduce road dust formation and reduce traffic noise while transporting fertilizer from Yara's factory in Porsgrunn to the export port in Brevik.On the technical side, KONGSBERG is responsible for the development and delivery of all essential technologies at Yara Birkeland. This applies to the sensors and integration required for remote and autonomous operations, as well as electrical propulsion, battery and control systems.Yara Birkeland will be put into operation in 2022. Initially it will start a two-year trial to become autonomous and certified as an autonomous, fully electric container vessel.
