The Scuba Diving ChannelKenny and Mike break down a highly contentious subject within the dive training community: Should students be taught all the required scuba skills only AFTER gaining the ability to hover in a neutrally buoyant position? Many supporters have been quoted saying they’ll “die on this hill”. But since this is NOT the widely accepted industry standard, at least for the WRSTC or most major training agencies (like PADI, NAUI, SDI, SSI and others)... should it be the norm, or is it simply overkill? Is it realistic in every single scenario with every single student, and is it even practical for group classes within a typical budget of an Open Water certification course? There is no doubt an issue with poor neutral buoyancy training, as most working divemasters and instructors will vehemently profess, but is this the solution or is there another angle? This topic can be seen stirring pretty strong opinions in any given scuba forum or comment thread, so we decided to discuss it point blank. – Regular Guest Michael Kest is a jury trial attorney for civil litigation, and an experienced scuba instructor. He’s worked many dive shops, charter boats, and has taught independently in locations ranging from Florida to Hawaii. Mike has also been a Divemaster for Epcot’s Dive Quest program at Disney for over 15 years, leading tens of thousands of Guests in the Seas aquarium on a weekly basis. He played football for FSU, he’s a father of three, a husband, a coach, and regularly dives in South Florida for fun on his spare time. – Kenny Dyal is the host of The Scuba Diving Podcast: TikTok: tiktok.com/@kenny_dyal Instagram: instagram.com/sweetwater_scuba Facebook: facebook.com/realkennydyal LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/kennydyal Twitter: twitter.com/RealKennyDyal www.sweetwaterscuba.com

We cover a lot in this sit-down interview, from training tips to tail making pointers, plus safety concerns for parents with kids who want to learn to be a mermaid. She also lists specific steps to getting jobs as a mermaid. Finally, the big reason Scuba Certification is the biggest asset in mermaid training. We get into the real reasons why Scuba is more helpful than freediving for mermaid safety and character performance (but also why free diving is still extremely valuable). We break down the comparisons of Mermaiding vs Freediving vs Scuba Diving.

Spider in the Scuba breathing regulator! -Scariest yet funniest original videoThe Scuba Diving Channel2024-09-28 | Most people who watch this are both terrified and belly laughing all in the same breath. Those who’ve never considered scuba diving are definitely going to be a bit freaked out, but rest assured that spiders in the regulator are almost unheard of. It's super rare. This started off as an educational video on diving habits, but quickly devolved into nothing but pure entertainment by the end. However, this video does show you how to get the spiders out of the 2nd stage of the regulator. This is the original video that went viral on the Sweetwater Scuba channels showing the spider in the water barrel running across the water and jumping. These giant spiders all escaped. I never imagined that making a video like this would be such an undertaking, but here it is… enjoy!
PS Scuba divers should not be afraid to dive because of spiders. As you can see it was EXTREMELY difficult to get a spider into a dive regulator to begin with. The biggest trick is to simply dive more and store it somewhere safe. Worst case, just do what we did. If somehow one did happen to get in there, they were easy to get out with a little water :0)How long a Scuba Tank can last underwater -Answered 👌🤿💦 #scubadiving #scubatank #howthingsworkThe Scuba Diving Channel2024-09-26 | ...Scuba Diving Sounds we can’t resist🤿🤷♂️ #scubadiving #asmr #funnyshortsThe Scuba Diving Channel2024-09-24 | ...Diving in the Rain is actually amazing if done right 🤿☔️💦 #scubadiving #funnyshorts #rainThe Scuba Diving Channel2024-09-22 | ...S4:E17 | Come with me to the FIRST EVER Scuba Diving Expo | There’s a new Dive Convention in town! The Scuba Diving Channel2024-09-22 | This was the perfect dive convention between the DEMA Show and The Scuba Show, and was much bigger than I expected.
