'Reckless' out now on Positiva:
Born and bred in London, Max Dean is an artist on an undeniably impressive trajectory. Inspired by retro sounds that build the foundations of his groove-focused underground signature, Max’s appetite for bouncy drum work, swinging rhythms, and catchy bass lines has quickly captured the attention of some of the industry’s best-known labels.
From the highs of 2022, which saw unwavering support from industry heavyweights and commendable chart success for landmark releases on. Hottrax, Repopulate Mars, Deeperfect and many more, to the unstoppable cadence of 2023, in which Max scaled new heights with music on Solid Grooves Raw, Eastenderz, Box Red and even his label, neXup, there’s no denying Max is well and truly on to something, as he continues to perpetuate his vision on a global scale. Max’s influence on the scene only continues to blossom.

In just two years, Lovefoxy has announced herself as one of the most exciting faces in house music thanks to a keen ear for quality tunes. Submerged in the world’s most exciting electronic music scene since she was a teenager (her mother opened Berlin's first house club frequented by David Bowie), Lovfoxy bestows deep, historical knowledge and appreciation for the uplifting, inspiring, and euphoric sounds of '90s house.
Recent sets include Berghain and sharing line-ups with Eliza Rose, Jacques Greene, Ben UFO, Joy Orbison, Ben Klock, Seth Troxler, DJ Heartstring, and Solomun.
This is a special Lab LDN with our friends A|X ARMANI EXCHANGE, celebrating our brand-new clothing collection inspired by club culture and dance music. The SS24 range embodies this through high-contrast pieces, giving a subtle nod to club culture through both the men’s and women’s collections, suited for every dancefloor.
"Our latest mix is a lovingly curated journey through groovy but driving techno with a strong '90s influence. It features many unreleased tracks from us and other talented artists, ensuring a unique listening experience. We've carefully selected each track to capture the energy and innovation of that era, while also pushing boundaries with modern production techniques. A lot of the tracks come from our latest album, 'FJAAK THE SYSTEM'. This mix is dedicated to explore the genre's rich history while discovering fresh and contemporary sounds."

"This is me going against what I’m hearing in clubs at the minute. It's all-vinyl and recorded in one take — I haven't edited out any mistakes or anything, so there's a couple of crackles and pops in it, but I wanted to leave them. I’ve just moved house, so I've pulled some of my favourite records out for this mix — there’s hardly any new stuff on here. I didn’t plan any of it apart from the first track, which is from Gemini - and the last track: Throbbing Gristle’s ‘Hot On The Heels of Love’ which is my favourite track ever — for the rest I just winged it."
"The musical selection I prepared for the Mixmag set is focused on offering a variety of sound proposals that adhere to the mashup style of old-school and underground reggaeton."

Silva Bumpa plays at Village Underground on May 31. Get your tickets here - - ra.co/events/1841895
Sheffield-hailing bassline specialist Silva Bumpa is heading to London this Friday where he’s set to perform at our world famous office party, bringing speedy dancefloor fillers to The Lab LDN. After wrapping up a tour around Australia and New Zealand and dropping his most recent EP on Locked On, ‘What About The DJ?’, Silva Bumpa is readying up for a busy summer hopping from festival to festival - from Croatia’s Outlook to Bristol’s Shall Not Fade.
Running with the likes of Interplanetary Criminal, Main Phase, and Soul Mass Transit System, Silva Bumpa has learnt from the current best in the game - helping to put speed garage and bassline back on the airwaves for the next generation of UK clubbers.
"This is the second 100% production mix I’ve done for Mixmag, and I’m glad to do another one. This one begins with dancefloor-oriented tracks I’d made just for DJ sets — a lot of this stuff might never be released. I’m always making this kind of stuff just to have it on hand, it’s more related to the type of dance music I love and collect. The other part of it is a bit more experimental and focuses on newer ideas. I used some previous releases to connect grooves together. I was more concerned with the interaction between grooves on this mix than anything else, so hopefully that comes through." - Nikki Nair

“I’ve never done a 100% full production mix before and it felt like the perfect time to do that with the album just coming out. I featured a lot of music from ‘I AM JORDAN’, as well as a lot of tracks that have come out over the years that you might not have heard before, including something from my ‘Watch Out!’ EP and some things from my earlier EPs. The vibe is PURE JORDAN VIBES!” - I. JORDAN

"This mix was recorded in LA (shoutout to Soulection for letting me use their office!). It’s inspired by a few tracks I’ve found along my travels - I always find journeys are the best time to dig for music. It’s also got a lot of tracks that I’ve been playing out recently, as well as some that I’ve had on repeat at home. It’s a journey as always, but it feels like the perfect intro to summer!"

"My mix is a fusion of sounds deeply rooted in my cultural heritage. It weaves together elements of amapiano, 3-step, and gqom, creating a dynamic blend of rhythms and melodies. Through my music, I aim to transport listeners to the heart of my hometown, South Africa. Imagine yourself lounging poolside, with a refreshing beverage in one hand and a boerewors roll in the other, while the aroma of a braai fills the air and your uncle tends to the grill. This mix seamlessly blends contemporary beats with timeless traditions, capturing the essence of modern South African music while honouring its classical roots."

"I aimed to blend my cultural roots, as always, and my passion for electronic music — creating a musical journey that resonates with contemporary expression using soundscapes and traditional percussive sounds. I wanted to take things to a dark room in a club at 3:AM with heavy beats, driving basslines, and sonic Arabic sounds. Each track on my mix is an insight of what’s been inspiring me with my production and the ongoing progression of my musical journey."

"This mix is a recording from La Machine du Moulin Rouge in Paris for Positive Education Festival's event in January 2024. I was opening for Flowdan, Toma Kami and Bianca Oblivion, and was never happier to be doing a warmup, as the festival's crowd is super open to more experimental music. Therefore, I felt free to explore my favourite mood which resembles me the most: building a narrative from about 120 BPM to 140 BPM, navigating between psychedelic, syncopated techno and minimal deep dubstep. At the peak of the set, when the room started to fill up, I deliberately took the energy down a notch with heavy contemplative dubs. The set felt like walking on a tightrope, balancing intensity and murkiness, bass and techno, playing with tension. It was one of the best times I ever had DJing."

"With this mix I wanted to showcase the music I've been making over the past months, forthcoming material from Nervous Horizon, as well as tunes from some of my favourite producers. It’s a snapshot of where my sound is at the moment. I'm quite happy with how this mix has turned out, it used to be quite rare for me to play my own music in mixes, but lately I’ve been really enjoying it!"

"When I wake up, I'm very picky about the music I want to listen to. I wanted to record a mix that would sound great for a morning coffee, but also to help me to start the day. It’s new and old club music, soft melodies for your morning, motivational rhythms, and heavy frequencies to end the journey. It's a day in my life, with the moods I go through, condensed into one hour."

"My mix chronicles songs I’ve created that have gone viral and those that are currently still viral, from my breakout hits like ‘V4MP’, ‘STB Anthem’, ‘Athena’, ‘My Cheeks Be Moving’, ‘Jade’, to my biggest club record ever ‘Bouncing’. My friend KhoriontheBeat made the vocals on both 'STB...' and ‘My Cheeks Be Moving’. I also incorporated new songs in the mix that are featured on my new project ‘4 Tunes’. Some of these are classic records that people can identify me through without even hearing my name. With me being one of the youngest pioneers, some of these songs played a major role in our childhoods in Jersey. For example 'STB Anthem' was shot in Oriental Village/Broadway Townhouses where I grew up... Fast forward in time, songs like ‘V4MP’, ‘Jade’ & ‘My Cheeks Be Moving’ are TikTok hits, I was the first of many Jersey club artists going viral on the platform. 'V4MP' actually charted in New Zealand on the Viral Top 50 Spotify charts and it’s also charted in Nigeria."
