Six Flags Welcomes Sea Lion That Survived Shark Attack - Named Sharkbite Six Flags Discovery Kingdom 2016-02-25 | A juvenile California sea lion that miraculously survived a vicious attack by a Great white shark has a permanent home at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.The yearling, stranded twice, the first time in March 2015, where he was underweight. Thanks to the Channel Islands Marine & Wildlife Institute, the pup gained over 50 lbs. before being re-released.Just six+ weeks later, he stranded again near Santa Barbara, but found with extensive bite wounds . With his history of restranding and the severity of his injuries, he was transferred to the park in mid-January 2016. Since then, he has integrated with another famous rescue, Sgt. Nevis, shot in the face by a fisherman, and a female rescue, Alani. His best friend is their offspring, Meesh.
