V | Soulmate(s) Spazzlings 2013-07-31 | GMV AWARDS - CANON ENTRYWith this video, I was really trying to capture this idea that Cloud holds Aerith and Zack (individually and as a couple) on a pedestal. To him, they are the prime example of how life should be led - free and brave and honestly. So when Marlene asks him what he thinks a soulmate, they are the first people to come to mind. Because in my opinion, Zack and Aerith had an extremely rare and beautiful relationship. They understood eachother - pushed eachother to be better - and loved deeply. That's the canon I wanted to portray in this video.I also believe it holds true to the canon of the FFVII story. Zack and Aerith's relationship is evident in Crisis Core, and it's obvious from the way Cloud can't forget them or forgive himself for their deaths that they meant so much to him. And in the end, Zack and Aerith change him forever. They help him grow in life and after their own deaths. FFVII | Hall of Fame Spazzlings 2013-05-23 | I'm really sorry it's so short, guys. It's a WIP, so hopefully I'll get around to finishing it soon... But I really wanted to finish and post this part. It's small and it's nothing special, but it's important to me. I heard this song a few days ago and it really connected with some things I'm going through right now. Long story short, it really reminded me of all the wonderful people in my life. Even though I doubt the things I want for myself sometimes, my friends and family are always right there to tell me that I can do it. That means so much to me, and this particular song reminded me of that. WOOT!"So who the hell was that back there--who is she?""Just an old flame.""Yeah, she looks old," she says bitterly."It's you I love, baby, with all my heart," the Spirit says."Yeah, me and every other woman you meet."--------------------------------------------------------------------------------¬-------------------Judge's Note:I had a lot of trouble trying to navigate the concept of "paradox" and what would or would not end up being considered one. So I broke down the idea to it's base level and here was my rational for this:This video is a paradox at two levels. For one, the actual tone of the movie "The Spirit" is action and comedy. Everything in the film is fast paced and light hearted. At one point, the Spirit literally gets attacked with a toilet. The film isn't serious. Even his disloyalty is taken to be more of an amiably feature, sort of trying to make it charming or "oh-you" about the fact that he flirts shamelessly with every woman he sees. His relationship with Ellen is one of the closest time they breach any sort of serious topic, but even when she has the above conversation with Spirit, she ends up smiling at the end, amused. However, before the Spirit became who he was, he was a cop who was assumed to have died in the line of duty and was engaged to Ellen. So throughout the movie, despite their "relationship", she has to watch him flirt with anything and everything is evident. I wanted to contrast the film by showing the pain in a much more thorough way as compared to her just sort of trying to accept that "boys will be boys". So that's Paradox #1 - showing the pain that she was in as she comes to somewhat "accept" that the Spirit just will never change. The other is that, as said before, the film is action focused and comedic. It's all Zip, Bang, BOP!, Thwack! I contrasted this mood by using a song that was slow, sad, and emotional. The opposite of action/comedy. Thus, Paradox 2. [ME3 Spoilers] Over Your Hill Spazzlings 2012-03-20 | I only ever have had one Commander Shepard. I can't make multiple Shepards. To me, there is only one Shepard. My Shepard...I can't play with any other skin. I adore this Shepard too much. Which is what explains the absolutely horrible footage quality here---sorry, guys. I used my Roxio to get footage of my Shep, 'cause if I was gonna edit with any Shep, it was gonna be mine---but I don't have an HD tv in my room, so the quality during the data transfer was horrendous. And in B&W. So yeah... Anyways, I love the ME series and it took me WAY too long to finally try it. I've fallen head over heels with the plot, the characters, the everything... I'm not going to talk endings here, 'cause that'll take forever. There were things I ADORED about ME3 and things I didn't, like any game.But I just HAD to edit with my Shepard. He was paragon!Shep and his story just broke my heart. ME3 shattered me many times (Mordin! Legion! ALL MY CREYS!) but it made me so, so happy, too. Life to the Maximus Spazzlings 2010-12-13 | This Christmas I'm [TRYING] to make a video for all my closest friends. The others will all be released on the same day (I've got a plan) but I was just way too excited to wait to give this one. This is for my housemate, Cheeko. She had to move away this year and we miss her so much. We had before Finals dinner the other night and it was super obvious, so I was trying to think of a good gift to give her. For anyone who doesn't know, Cheeks was pretty close with my dog, Max. She'd sit in her Computer Chair and let him wheel her around the house sometimes. When she was working, he was usually chilling out in her papasan chair. So I figured this would work as a good gift. The footage was all graciously given to me by the one and only Doylie who took all this footage herself. Half of it is taken with an HD camera for one of her SMAD projects. That's basically all the really nice grassy scenes with the bubbles. AND THEN, cheeks, when I was editing this last night...IT SNOWED! So we grabbed Max, the flip-camera and went at it. So the bubbles were from the beginning of the semester and the snow is from the end. We miss ya, girlie! 15 Seconds With Cloud Strife Spazzlings 2010-10-30 | So last night, my housemate and I were lounging on the couch waiting for Doylie to finish work so I could go pick her up, and there was NOTHING ON. So we were skimming channels that we don't normally skim (basically anything past channel 100 because there are just too many channels otherwise) and we passed General Hospital. So I was like: "Dude, that's General Hospital. I don't remember his name but Cloud's voice actor is a big character in that. People use audio bites from this show for him all the time." My friend then looked at me with wonder, "REALLY?!" "Yes." So we watched without watching...Oddly, this is possible. We literally watched the screen without paying attention unless Cloud was on. (he doesn't talk much on this show, either, sadly. Or at least this episode) I mean, at one point someone randomly got hit in the head with a glass vase and we were both like O.O Whoa, wait, I missed something. So yeah. Enjoyable. ANYWAYS. A commercial came on for...citrical? Something like that and it was 15 seconds with different actors. Steve Burton was one of them and my friend looks at me once its done and was like "YOU WILL EDIT THIS". So I did. Enjoy it, my friend! And friends. I absolutely loved making every second of this video. I wouldn't say it's my absolute strongest video, but it's the one I probably loved making the most. It also showcases a lot of what my style as an editor is about. Storytelling, masking, colors, flow. This is the sort of work I enjoy doing and I think it represents my work as an editor well._____________________________________________________________________________________1. - Since when did you know MemoRised Pictures?I've known about MRP for a while now--seen the group's work in the past. I couldn't honestly tell you exactly when I first found out about them, but they are one of those groups that sit in the back of my head with the lingering question of "what should I expect to see next?" The type of group that keeps you guessing.2. - Why do you want to join MRP? (Name at least 2 reasons)For one, I admire the people in MRP. They are editors that admire, trust and have worked with in the past. I have good experiences with them and I admire their ability. My other reason is that MRP looks like the kind of group that would be professional while still being friendly and fun. The MEPs/Projects wouldn't just be "ideas" but things everyone equally works on and things that actually end up on youtube as compared to groups I've been in the past that have good, creative intentions but end up falling through and leaving you with work you did, but no way to showcase or use it. For a long while now I've wanted to be apart of a group again, but I'm looking for a group of driven individuals. A group that won't fall apart in a few weeks.3. - What kind of footage do you usually use? (you can also tell us sth about your editing style)Game footage, mostly, though I'm open with TV/Movie footage also. I don't have much experience with 2-D work, though. My style mostly deals with masking, flow and storytelling. 4. - Why do you enjoy editing/what do you like most about it? I enjoy editing because I enjoy telling stories, for one, and because I like creating something that someone else can enjoy. I like making something inspiring, something that can bring a smile to someone else's face or emotion to their heart. All in all, when you get right down to it, editing is a form of art. Art is something that spans farther than words, time or many other things---but still conveys so much. I just...I don't know, I just know that I enjoy editing. Diaspora Act 2: Leons Funeral Spazzlings 2010-09-19 | Diaspora Act 2: Leon's Funeral After the death of his Co-Leader and long time friend, Chris was beginning to truly feel the strain of his mission. Hope was fading. Watching Leon in the grass, dead and cold, reminded Chris what the cost of failure was. What the cost of his ill-leadership was. Chris Redfield, leader of the Rebels, didn't know what to do. That's when they came. A few days prior, Chris had received a message from a strange faction saying that they wished to help. They had a way to save the infected, and with help, the world. Chris was less than convinced, but with everything that had happened and the huge blow the Rebels had taken with Leon's death, he agreed to meet them. To hear them out. The woman in pink was obviously once of the people described in the message. The leader of that organization had said she was special--a human who could channel the spirit of the planet--and that she could help. She kneeled down beside Chris and said, "Everyone's waiting, if you're ready," and Chris couldn't think of anything else to do but step aside. In the doorway were three people. In the forefront, a strange woman in clothing he had only seen in movies and in the back, two men in SOLDIER uniforms, straight from the ShinRa line. Chris had heard of experiments that escaped from ShinRa--that rebelled against Wesker--and he thought for just a moment that if these were the same people, then maybe they weren't the only ones left in this world. Zack, the leader of the other faction, walked up to him and extended his hand. Chris took it. That's when she started dancing, the strange woman, and Zack explained that Aerith and Yuna were performing a special ceremony. That they were "Summoners" and that at a certain time in their lives, they had to decide whether or not they believed in light or darkness. Aerith had chosen Gaia. Yuna had not yet come to that choice in her walk as a Summoner, but both could perform the special ritual that would heal the infected nearby--those who were not yet taken over, but still ill with the virus. With Leon's soul, they opened up a path to Gaia, releasing cleansing water from the bottom of the church. Claire, enraged that Chris would so readily trust their friend and her fiancee to strangers, stormed off. Chris didn't stop her, but couldn't hold her gaze either. Together, the two Summoners brought forth a well of water that Leon seeped deep into. Pyreflies from the LifeStream surrounded them, and the water cleansed the group of survivors they had managed to protect. Hope was lifting as a dear comrade was returned to the Planet. [ICw/Doylie] Grow - Chris & Sheva Spazzlings 2010-09-03 | Uh, this was actually done about a week ago. Doylie and I both got back from Summer Vacation and were lamenting about editor's block when we decided to randomly IC. The challenge? Finish. Though I think she did another, more complicated challenge. Anyways, I pick Chris and Sheva. Because I honestly don't edit pairings enough when it comes to Resident Evil. So I hope you like it. Its super simple and sort of self explanatory. On another note, for those of you wondering why I've been uploading little videos lately (I may have addressed this before) I just haven't been able to sit down lately and think when it comes to more complicated story oriented videos. HOWEVER, I bring good news. The next video of Diaspora is almost done. I've said that before but I'm serious now. It has about 30 or 40 seconds left of footage left to place before I can do a last run through for mask mistakes and post it.
