New-for-2021, the Hellcat Grudge Race pitted Eric Malone of MotorTrend's television series "Fastest Cars in the Dirty South" and four online automotive builders in heads-up racing. Malone and each of the online builders — Alex Taylor, Tavarish, Westen Champlin and Throtl — received a Challenger or Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye and $10,000 in cash for car modifications. Taylor emerged victorious in the battle between the four online builders, earning a spot in the final round faceoff against Malone thanks to a .002-second reaction time that helped her knock out Westen Champlin and his twin-turbo modified Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye. Taylor was victorious in her modified, racing slicks-equipped Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye ride after Malone left the line too early in his Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye. In a “just for fun” exhibition run after the final, Malone left first and beat Taylor to the finish line, leaving room open for further discussion in the TV-versus-online builder debate. “I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to go head to head in this build-off and Hellcat Grudge Race against four worthy opponents: Alex, Tavarish, Westen, and Throtl,” said Malone. “No matter the outcome, the race has proven that TV and online builders and racers each bring something special to the table, and we all brought our A-games to Roadkill Nights. I look forward to seeing what these four builders do in the future, and hope to have the opportunity to race against them again soon.” The Big Tire (unlimited size tires) and Small Tire (tires 275 mm wide or narrower) classes saw competitors battling for bragging rights and cash prizes totaling $30,000 on the iconic 1/8-mile Woodward Avenue drag strip, with unique urban features including an active railway located just behind the starting line. Each class winner earned $10,000, with the Quickest Dodge cars in both classes taking home $5,000 each. Jimmer Kline, of Wyoming, Michigan, repeated as champion in the Big Tire class. Kline raced his 1966 Acadian Chevy to victory in the final against Litchfield, Ohio’s Jeremy Bonnett and his 1928 Pontiac Sedan. The event wrapped up with one of the best races of the day, as Nicholas Taylor drove his 2000 Ford Mustang to a razor-thin win in the Small Tire final over Shawn Fensler’s 1993 Ford Mustang in a battle of Fort Wayne, Indiana, natives. James Pranis of Verona, Pennsylvania, (Big Tire – 1968 Dodge Charger) and Peter Bokedon of Roseville, Michigan, (Small Tire – 1972 Dodge Dart) earned back-to-back honors as the Quickest Dodge winners in their respective classes. Both also claimed the Quickest Dodge purse at the 2019 Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge event Additional activities included a First Responder Showdown between southeast Michigan fire and rescue teams, virtual head-to-head racing in Dodge Challenger SRT Demon simulators, a classic/modern muscle car show with 300 vehicles, and flamethrower, wheelstander and pro-mod exhibitions. The Station officially welcomed the community back to share in its historic reopening during Michigan Central OPEN. Originally designed by architects Warren & Wetmore and Reed & Stem, the same team behind New York’s famed Grand Central, Michigan Central Station first opened its doors in 1913 as one of the country’s most spectacular transportation terminals.It saw 4,000 daily passengers at its peak, but, following decades of declining rail travel, was shuttered in 1988 and sat vacant for three decades, experiencing severe neglect, weathering, decay and vandalism.Ford embarked on the preservation project after acquiring the abandoned train station in 2018 to be the centerpiece of Michigan Central, a 30-acre technology and cultural hub in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood. An elegantly designed aerodynamic diffuser with vertical fins dominates the rear end. A body color inlay above the rear diffuser adds even more visual texture and acts as a link between the diffuser and rear bumper.The new Audi RS e-tron GT is now sportier as well. Its front end alone features a much more radical look. The inverted Singleframe comes in the RS typical 3D honeycomb structure. The apron framing the black mask visually opens the RS e-tron downwards. The vehicle appears lower, seeming to hug the street in combination with the functional L shaped blades. The rear end of the RS e-tron GT borrows elements from motorsports. The streamlined diffuser echoes the theme of three-dimensional efficiency elements in the front, such as the L shaped blades, in the rear of the vehicle. The blades come as standard in body color for a sporty look. Another detail from racing is a vertical, red reflector sitting between the aero channels.The Audi RS e-tron GT performance is the first fully electric RS performance model. It features unique design elements and stands out from the RS e-tron GT with an optional matte, darkened carbon roof in combination with optional carbon camouflage elements. These elements are a first from Audi and are intended exclusively for the RS performance. The carbon camouflage is used in the embossed bumper structures, the door trim, parts of the diffuser, and the side mirrors.The new corporate identity (CI) also contributes to the exterior upgrade for the e-tron GT family. The four rings now come in a premium-quality, two-dimensional design positioned between the radiator grille and the front apron. The range of colors features nine exterior finishes. In this context, the 3rd round of the Suzuki Rally Cup, the trophy dedicated to Japanese racing cars, was an event full of twists and turns, in a race in which the agile and fast Suzukis were able to have their say at high levels.At the end of the two days of competition, the one to receive the applause in the heart of Lecce, "La Signora del Barocco" decorated and lit up to celebrate the arrival of her rally, was an extraordinary Sebastian Dallapiccola, one of the talents competing in the single-make series Japanese who with Fabio Andrian at the notes put in a very solid performance on the asphalt. The young under25, certainly not discovered today, started off strong from the show test inside the Salentina track but then surpassed himself during Saturday on the repeats of "Torre Paduli", "Ciolo" and "Specchia", taking advantage of the misfortunes that befell his opponents. On his first time in Salento the Trentino rider did not hold back, taking calculated risks and attacking from start to finish: with this second consecutive victory in the Suzuki Rally Cup Dallapiccola now extends his lead in the overall standings to 79 points and begins to think about defending the primacy.Behind him, very unlucky after their Suzuki Swift Sport Hybrid caught a branch at the end of the race which detached the battery switch, Giorgio Fichera navigated for the occasion by Alessandro Manco. The expert driver immediately started strong on Friday in the show test and battled for a long time with Dallapiccola, remaining in the lead before technical problems forced him to settle for an excellent second place. The senator of the trophy Roberto Pellè, an experienced Trentino driver with the notes of Luca Franceschini, is still tormented by overheating problems. With this result, Vallino consolidates its position at the top of the category. Second with a Boosterjet was Lorenzo Olivieri paired with Luca Viotti, with a performance that also took advantage of Varesco's absence and brought them back to second place in the standings. In eighth place overall was the crew composed of Samuele Santero and Mattea Modenini, while in 9th and 3rd third among the Racing Starts was that of the Vitali family, Stefano and Maurizio, who after the two intense and hot days of racing crossed the finish line at 2'16.
