Fiber Talk with Isabella Rosner Fiber Talk 2024-05-12 | Isabella Rosner is one of those rare people who sets a course where no course exists and, with persistence and hard work, reaches her goals. RSN: Needlework for the Coronation Fiber Talk 2024-05-05 | A team of embroiderers works on the Queen's robe, designed and created by the RSN. These ladies were responsible for managing all of the needlework that was done for the Coronation of King Charles III a year ago. Fiber Talk with Kelly Lea Teske Fiber Talk 2024-04-07 | It's hard to stitch if you can't see well and, for most of us, seeing well requires a good pair of glasses. This week, in a show sponsored by CyberPointers, Kelly Lea Teske returns to help us better understand how to make the most of our next visit to the eye doctor and the optician. Kelly first joined us in a Sept. 2, 2023 show we did with Rinda Just. The topic of that show was macular degeneration and other vision issues. This time, we learn that, as is so often the case, a successful visit starts with communicating what you want to achieve when you make your appointment and when you meet with the technician for those initial examination steps. If you make it clear you want glasses for stitching, by the time you get to the eye doctor, he/she will be able to write a prescription that will allow the optician to order the lenses you need. The goal of this show is to provide you with information so you can ask intelligent questions when you visit the eye doctor. Ultimately, the advice comes from your doctor and optician and the decisions are yours to make. Mercedes learned needlepoint from her grandmother but it "didn't stick." When the pandemic hit, she had time on her hands and wanted to quit smoking. Needlepoint kept her hands busy, she kicked the nicotine habit, and a needle-art career emerged. She likes to stitch scenes and painted canvases didn't excite her so she decided to use rough pencil outlines of photographs and teach herself to interpret the elements with threads and stitches. The result has been a series of successes that have found their way into several juried exhibitions. While creating her needleart, she also tackled the American Needlepoint Guild Master Needle Artist program. If we can have legends in the needle arts community, Carole certainly was one. Her designs and books, solo or with her needlework partner Michael Boren, are some of the best we’ve seen and owning some or all of her books is almost essential for needlepointers. In addition to writing and designing, her classes were always in high demand. She achieved so much and gave so much to the needle arts community and we’ll all miss her, especially her family and stitching friends. Fiber Talk with the Needlepoint Dads Fiber Talk 2023-12-18 | Harvey Kravis and Dan Blackwelder, The Needlepoint Dads, join us this week for a guys-only conversation sponsored by Cyberpointers, the only online chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild. Harvey and Dan followed two different paths to needlepoint and have been stitching for most of their adult lives. Dan is a counted-canvas designer and Harvey enjoys reproducing old-master paintings.
