Six Pack Abs or Backpack Abs? Core Training for Hikers, Trail Runners + ClimbersLiveHardxLoveHard2026-09-30 | Six Pack Abs or Backpack Abs? Core Training for Hikers, Trail Runners + ClimbersClimbing Americas Matterhorn: An Eastern Sierra IconLiveHardxLoveHard2025-10-09 | Did you know that California has its own Matterhorn Peak? Nestled in the northern end of the Eastern Sierra, just outside Yosemite National Park, America's Matterhorn Peak is a California hiking classic. There are multiple routes to the summit, offering hikers and climbers alike the option to choose your own adventure. We chose to take the standard route up from Twin Lakes in Bridgeport and hike up Horsecreek canyon to Horsecreek pass where we then veered off to summit Matterhorn. We were surprised that this is a lesser known Eastern Sierra hike, because the summit views were some of the best we've seen. Would definitely put this on our list of best eastern Sierra hikes!
#hiking #easternsierraMammoths Thousand Island Lake: This Is Why We Hike the Eastern SierraLiveHardxLoveHard2025-10-02 | The hike to Thousand Island Lake is a Mammoth and Eastern Sierra hiking classic. The Thousand Island Lake hike can be done as a single day out and back of 16 miles, a loop of about 18 miles, or a multi-day backpacking trip along the PCT and JMT.
We chose to do a single day loop, starting on the PCT High Trail at Agnew Meadows and hiking to Thousand Island Lake along a spectacular ridgeline with unparalleled views of the Ritter range and the Minarets. Once we made it to Thousand Island Lake, we hopped on to the JMT where we hiked to Ruby Lake, Gem Lake, and Garnet Lake before taking the JMT back home. Our loop is 100% the way we would recommend doing this hike because it has absolutely everything: beautiful Eastern Sierra views, interesting ridgeline terrain, and plenty of brilliant alpine lakes for plunging. What a perfect Sierra hike!
#easternsierra #hiking #mammothThe Minarets Volcanic Ridge: The Greatest Eastern Sierra Hike Youve Never Heard OfLiveHardxLoveHard2025-09-25 | The Minarets Volcanic Ridge is one of the most stunning and underrated hikes in California’s Eastern Sierra. If you've ever driven into Mammoth Lakes on the 395, you've probably wondered about that majestic ridgeline you can see towering over Mammoth in the distance - that's the Minarets. Some claim that the Minarets are one of the most spectacular ridgelines in the entire world, yet hiking the Minarets rarely makes California hiking bucketlists. Well, the Minarets just might soar to the top of your hiking bucketlist now!
This hiking route is located in the Ansel Adams Wilderness of the Inyo National Forest. We started at the Devils Postpile Ranger station. Please take note of the road restrictions and check with the NPS for information before going.
For those not interested in doing the full ridge climb to the top of Volcanic Ridge, the hike to Minaret Lake is 100% worth a day trip. However, if you have the energy and experience, hiking to the top of Volcanic Ridge offers one of the greatest summit views we've ever experienced in the Sierra - we got up close and personal with all the famous Minaret Peaks (like Clyde Minaret, Michael Minaret and Eichorn Minaret). We would even have loved to make this a Sierra backpacking trip because we didn't want to leave. If you're looking for a hike in the Eastern Sierra and want something unique and not full of crowds, definitely consider hiking the Minarets :)
#californiahiking #mammoth #minaretsMammoth EXTREME: The Crystal Crag Ridge TraverseLiveHardxLoveHard2025-09-19 | This Mammoth Lakes hike was unforgettable. Crystal Crag is one of the most famous hiking and climbing routes in Mammoth Lakes, and there are several routes to the summit. While we have taken the standard hiking and scrambling approach in the past, we have always wondered whether it would be possible to ascend Crystal Crag purely by scrambling up the ridgeline. You all can tell us how we did :) The Lake Mary, Crystal Crag and Crystal Lake area of Mammoth is a bucketlist hiking destination for anyone visiting Mammoth Lakes. Even if you're just looking for a beautiful day hike, taking the standard hiking route just to Crystal Lake is a real treat. Hiking in the Eastern Sierra never gets old!

If you're visiting Lake Tahoe and looking for the perfect hike while there, the Lake Aloha hike in the Desolation Wilderness is it. The hiking route we took is a short drive from Lake Tahoe and offers stunning views of Lake Aloha, Echo Lake, Tamarak Lake, and the surrounding Crystal range traverse. If you're planning a hike in the Desolation Wilderness, definitely consider putting Lake Aloha trail at the top of your list!

The 22 mile, 5000FT trail hikes through some of the nation's most stunning landscapes. The route we took started from Stuart Lakes trail and climbed to Colchuck Lake, where we then hiked to the top of Asgard Pass and were rewarded with entry to the famous Enchantments "Core Zone" - one of the prettiest places we've ever hiked! In this video you'll see Isolation Lake, Lake Perfection, Leprechaun Lake, Inspiration Lake, Snow Lakes, Lake Viviane, Lake Nada , and that's not all :) This is truly one of the best hikes in Washington (we also think it is one of the best hikes in the United States), and we're so lucky we got to do this one and bring you all along.

We can truthfully say that, after hiking all over the state, this is one of the best hikes in California.

We started the morning hiking Four Mile Trail, which offers unreal views of Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls. It was a steep hike up Four Mile Trail to Glacier Point, where we had stunning views of Yosemite Valley, North Dome and Half Dome. But it didn't end there. From Glacier Point we continued onto Panorama Trail, where we passed by Illilouette Falls and looped over to end our day by hiking down Yosemite's Mist Trail along Nevada Falls and Vernal Falls. We have done most of the popular hikes in Yosemite and we can confidently say that the Four Mile, Panorama, Mist Trail Loop has to be one of the best hikes in Yosemite for anyone looking to truly experience everything it has to offer.
#yosemitenationalpark #yosemite #hikingcaliforniaAll Alone on Zions Greatest Hike: Mountain of the SunLiveHardxLoveHard2025-06-12 | Looking for a spectacular hike in Zion National Park that avoids the crowds and doesn't require a permit? Look no further than hiking Zion's Mountain of the Sun. With the summer season of hiking in Zion now upon us, the most popular trails like Angel's Landing and the Narrows will often be swarmed with hikers. If you're looking for something just as unique and gorgeous but off the beaten path, you will probably find that Mountain of the Sun is your new favorite hike in Zion. While it does require experience with route finding, navigation, and scrambling, the reward for reaching the summit is having the unparalleled views of Zion Canyon completely to yourself. If this isn't the best hike in Zion, we don't know what is!
#zion #utah #hikingloversForget Arches—This Hidden Moab Hike Will Blow Your MindLiveHardxLoveHard2025-06-05 | Visiting Arches National Park is a summer hiking bucketlist destination. And despite the summer heat, the crowds at Arches National Park during peak season can often seem overwhelming. But don't worry, we have got you all covered! Most people who visit Moab will never drive 15 minutes to visit this Moab hiking gem known as Fisher Towers. Trust us, we have hiked at Arches plenty of times and never thought to venture off the beaten path to this hidden Moab hike just a short drive from downtown Moab. So if you are looking for a unique hike away from the crowds that is just absolutely spectacular, consider spending one of your days while visiting Moab hiking Fisher Towers.

#hiking #redrockThe One Red Rock Hike You Can Not Miss: Guardian Angel PassLiveHardxLoveHard2025-05-22 | Did you know that just 30 minutes from downtown Las Vegas is one of the world's premier hiking and climbing locations - Red Rock Canyon? While Red Rock is often overlooked by Vegas visitors, anyone with a love of the outdoors and unique hikes should absolutely consider visiting Red Rock Canyon as a Las Vegas day trip. While Red Rock has hundreds of hiking trails to choose from, for our first adventure we picked the Guardian Angel Pass Loop. Keep in mind the first half of this hike is actually a scramble, but the next half is more of a hike and doing the back half of the loop (if you're not much of a scrambler) gives a true taste of the beauty and awe of Red Rock. If you're looking for a hike in Red Rock Canyon, definitely consider exploring the Guardian Angel Pass and Calico Tanks area.
#hiking #redrock #nevadaMt Charleston: Wait, Vegas Has Snow, Ice, and 12,000FT Peaks?LiveHardxLoveHard2025-05-15 | Can you believe that just 45 minutes outside of the Las Vegas desert is a stunning mountain range complete with cool temperatures, snow, ice, and a 12,000FT peak? Mount Charleston towers over Las Vegas and the summit offers incredible views all the way to the Sierra Nevada, Death Valley, and Vegas below. Mt. Charleston is the tallest peak in Las Vegas, and hiking Mt. Charleston makes for the perfect Las Vegas day trip, especially in the warmer summer months. Getting to the summit is no easy task - the standard South Loop Trail is a 17 mile + 5000 Ft climb, and, depending on what time of year you hike Mt. Charleston, you may encounter varying levels of snow and ice especially as you near the summit. We were stunned by not only the summit views but also the incredible hike through the Spring Mountain range. It’s definitely no surprise that Mt. Charleston is known for being one of the best hikes in Las Vegas. If you’re looking for things to do in Las Vegas, and need a break from the typical crowds of the city, consider a day trip to hike Mount Charleston!
#hikingadventures #mtcharleston #nevadaTahoes Hardest Snow Shoe Hike: Pyramid PeakLiveHardxLoveHard2025-05-01 | Pyramid Peak has to be one of the best hikes in Tahoe, if not one of the best hikes in the Desolation Wilderness area of the Eastern Sierra. Our favorite thing about this hike is that it was recommended to us by several of our LiveHardxLoveHard subscribers! Well, it was kind of a recommendation and kind of a challenge - after you all saw us hike the stunningly steep Jake's Peak in Lake Tahoe, you must have known we wouldn't be able to resist the even steeper, more challenging, and more beautiful Pyramid Peak. While this Tahoe hike can be done year-round, we loved getting to do it while there was still snow around for some spring hiking and snowshoeing. We brought the perfect gear on this too - snowshoes for the slushy snow hiking up to about 9000 feet, and microspikes for the final summit push. If you're looking for the perfect hike in the Desolation Wildnerness, or the best snowshoe hike in Tahoe, don't forget about Pyramid Peak :)

#kauai #hikingBuried in a Blizzard: Car Camping Tahoes Snowstorm of the YearLiveHardxLoveHard2025-04-10 | Winter car camping in a snowstorm....well, that was interesting. We thought we had a great plan - there was a big snowstorm rolling in to Tahoe, and now that we are getting into skiing we thought we would drive up before the snowstorm, find a safe spot to car camp near the ski resort, and hit the slopes to grab the fresh powder. Let's just say it did not go entirely according to plan. However, we did learn a lot about car camping during a snowstorm and how to maximize our comfort and stay warm winter car camping.

These trails can be done individually, as just an out and back via the Awa'awapuhi trail and lookout or an out and back on the Nu'alolo trail to the lookout, however combining the two trails into one loop hike is our favorite way to see the Na'Pali coast.Kalalau Trail in a DayLiveHardxLoveHard2025-03-27 | Hiking Kaua's Kalalau Trail in a single day! One of the most unique aspects of this waterfall is that there is an option to actually swim BEHIND the waterfall and get a totally different perspective on the falls. With gorgeous views, a bit of scrambling, and a stunning waterfall, there is good reason that the Hanakpi'ai waterfall hike is one of the most popular hikes on Kauai!

Have you also wondered how to backcountry ski, climbing insane mountains and skiing back down? Well, we wondered the same thing! And this winter, instead of spending thousands on ski passes and rental gear, we figured out a different way to learn.... a way that is entirely free (once you account for the initial investment of backcountry ski gear, that is). Jakes Peak is a favorite winter hiking, snowshoeing, and skiing route for Tahoe locals. The trail to the summit is no joke - it's incredibly steep, which, in snowshoes or skis can make for an interesting climb both up AND down, but the struggle is 100% worth it for the most epic views in South Lake Tahoe! But how much does this new nomad lifestyle really cost? Is nomad life cheaper than renting year-round or buying a home? You all know that we are saving for early retirement/financial independence, so staying within budget every year is essential. As you'll learn in the video, we definitely had some surprising costs this first six months, both good and bad. How do you think we did so far? #costarica #waterfallhike #waterfallsI Cant Breathe: Plunging into Blue Falls, Costa RicaLiveHardxLoveHard2025-01-16 | Our obsession with finding the world's most incredible waterfalls lives on, and today we're taking you along to the famous Blue Falls of Costa Rica! The hike to this incredible series of waterfalls in Costa Rica's Bajos del Toro features some of the most stunning and massive falls we've yet to encounter. Each of the falls (Tepezquintle, Poza Azul, Las Gemelas, Pintada, Celestial) has it's own character and shade of brilliant blue or turquoise due to the high levels of aluminum sulphate in the water. Because we visited on a very rainy day, the Blue Falls were ROARING.
We truly believe this is one of the best things to do in Costa Rica. It is less well-known compared to other really popular Costa Rica attractions like La Fortuna, which means that if you go on a slightly rainy day, you might be lucky and have the Blue Falls all to yourself!

#costarica #waterfallhike #costaricatravelStruck by a Meteor! Hiking Canyonlands Upheaval DomeLiveHardxLoveHard2024-12-12 | Never a dull moment hiking Canyonlands National Park! The Canyonlands Upheaval Dome hike at Island in the Sky is truly something special - the Syncline Loop hike circumnavigates the entirety of the Upheaval Dome, a massive crater created by a meteor strike millions of years ago (or, a salt dome erosion, depending on who you ask). Either way, hiking Canyonlands Upheaval dome offers an incredible perspective on the geological history of the area. If you complete all of the Upheaval Dome and Syncline Loop trails, including the offshoots, you will have the opportunity not only to hike around the dome, but also hike into the crater and witness the impact area for yourself! The Upheaval Dome/Syncline loop trail is often referred to as the best hike in Canyonlands Islands in the Sky, and we agree it is not to be missed if you love geology and insane rock formations! And, as a reminder, winter hiking in Canyonlands is the best time of year to visit :)
#canyonlands #hiking #utahQuandary Peak in the Snow: Winter Colorado 14erLiveHardxLoveHard2024-12-06 | Quandary Peak is known for being an absolutely epic Colorado 14er. The stunning views from Quandary Peak's summit are some of the best we have ever experienced. But hiking Quandary Peak in winter takes the entire adventure to whole other level. The snow glistening on the peaks surrounding Quandary are simply magical! We knew hiking Quandary Peak would be an incredible experience, but hiking Quandary Peak in the snow is an adventure we will never forget :) If you have the skills and are considering hiking Quandary Peak in winter, definitely put this one on your list. Just another reason we absolutely love winter hiking!
#colorado #14ers #winterhikingThe One Hike in Canyonlands You Can NOT Miss: Druid Arch + Chesler Park + The JointLiveHardxLoveHard2024-11-28 | Canyonlands NP has some of the most special and unique hikes in the United States. One of the most popular areas to explore in Canyonlands is the Needles District. While there are several hikes to choose from, it was very clear to us that the Druid Arch, Chesler Park and the Joint Loop is the best hike in Canyonlands Needles District. From massive arch formations to golden spires and the longest slot canyon we've ever encountered, this hike had it all. Plus, we saw barely another soul the entire trail. If you're looking for an adventure destination in the next few months, visiting Canyonlands in winter is the perfect option!
#canyonlands #canyonlandsnationalpark #hikingutahMt. Bierstadt in the Snow: Stunning Colorado 14erLiveHardxLoveHard2024-11-14 | Mt. Bierstadt is one of the most beloved Colorado 14ers...for good reason! The Mt. Bierstadt hike is loaded with insanely gorgeous views, and the trail is relatively accessible, requiring no technical skills beyond being able to hike at high altitude! We found that hiking Mt. Bierstadt in winter conditions takes the route to a whole other level of beauty - the fresh snow glistened on the hundreds of peaks surrounding the trail. For anyone interested in hiking a Colorado 14er, Mt. Bierstadt will not disappoint. With the right gear and preparation, hiking Mt. Bierstadt in the snow is just glorious :)

Rocky Mountain has some of the country's most beautiful lakes, and we decided to set out to find as many of them as we could. #rockymountainnationalpark #colorado #hikingMoose Fights to Climb Vertical Cliff FaceLiveHardxLoveHard2024-11-03 | ...Torreys Peak and Grays Peak the Epic Way: Kelso Ridge TraverseLiveHardxLoveHard2024-10-31 | Torreys Peak and Grays Peak are two of the most popular 14ers in Colorado. Their proximity makes for an awesome way to hike two Colorado 14ers in a single day. But, while most hikers take the standard class 1 routes to each summit, if anyone is looking to add a little extra spice to the day, that's where the Kelso ridge traverse comes in! Kelso Ridge is an offshoot from the main trail that climbs directly up an epic ridgeline to the summit of Torreys Peak. And while the Kelso ridge is absolutely epic, it is not to be taken lightly! The route requires plenty of class 3 scrambling, some challenging route finding, and, to top it all off, requires hikers to traverse across a gnarly knife edge with harrowing drop offs on both sides in order to reach the summit. From the summit of Torreys Peak, the Kelso ridge route joins up with the main trail to give up vertical (!) and hike back up to the summit of Grays Peak before hiking back down into the valley and back to the parking lot. If you're not up for a spicy ridgeline, hiking Torreys and Grays Peak as a double 14er is enough fun in and of itself, but if you enjoy a little class 3 climbing, Kelso ridge has it all!

#colorado #14ers #potensicatom #potensicMoose! Conundrum Hot Springs with Bull Moose EncounterLiveHardxLoveHard2024-10-24 | Did you know you can hike to natural hot springs in Colorado? The Conundrum Hot Springs hike in Colorado is a very popular backpacking trail in the Maroon Bells wilderness - which means that permits to hike to the hot springs are insanely hard to get. But if you've been around here for a while, you know we don't let that deter us! To get to enjoy the springs without worrying about permit lotteries, we decided to do the entire 18 mile out and back route in a single day. While it was a long day, the mid hike relaxation station at the hot springs made it totally worth it! Not to mention, we managed to happen upon this hike during peak fall color in Colorado, which made it even more insanely beautiful! If you are looking for a unique and spectacular hike near Aspen, Colorado, consider putting Conundrum Hot Springs on your list!
Another bonus.... had our very first major moose encounter!

Hiking Longs Peak via the keyhole route requires miles of navigating challenging terrain along the Longs Peak ledges, some spicy scrambling through the Longs Peak narrows and trough, and plenty of route finding. But the challenges are more than made up for with the incredible views of Rocky Mountain National Park, the eastern plains, and Chasm Lake down below that hikers are gifted with throughout the trail. It's no secret that Colorado hikes (especially Colorado 14ers) always steal our hearts!
#colorado #longspeak #14ersLIVING OFF GRID is saving us THOUSANDS: Heres HowLiveHardxLoveHard2024-10-10 | Living off grid has always seemed a bit daunting to us - that is, until now! We’ve spent the past four months learning how to live and work completely off grid, and we think we have mastered the set up needed to make our off grid living comfortable and stress free. This set up works EVERYWHERE and has totally saved us on multiple occasions. We’ve used it to stay connected while posting up on BLM land, camping at dispersed campsites, and it’s even saved us a few times while staying in actual rentals in the middle of nowhere with terrible WiFi. Not to mention, this off grid life is saving us thousands of dollars a month. And you know where that is going - straight into our investments so we can continue to work towards financial independence and early retirement.

We miraculously rolled in to Aspen, Colorado just as the aspens were reaching their peak fall color, and, as you can tell from the video, we were both utterly speechless. The Maroon Bells is one of the most beautiful hiking destinations in the world any time of year, but hiking the Maroon Bells at peak fall color is a truly once in a lifetime experience. We spent hours hiking the Maroon Bells scenic loop and then took the trail up to Crater Lake, and the entire hike was filled with just non stop stunning autumn beauty. This is definitely where to see fall colors in Colorado. If you have the opportunity to visit Colorado in the fall and you are down for some Colorado leaf peeping, you must put a Maroon Bells fall hike at the top of your list!

No cheating if you were one of the subscribers that recommended we do this hike :)
We're in Idaho! We ventured out on a weekend strike mission to check out some of the most beautiful hikes in Idaho, and first up on the list was an adventure that came highly recommended - the Goat Lake and Goat Falls hike in the Sawtooth Mountains.
We had no idea how absolutely beautiful the hikes in Idaho are! We definitely did not give ourselves enough time to explore hiking in Idaho, but we hope you find this Goat Lake hike (and the upcoming adventure) to be as shockingly gorgeous as we did.
