13g - 200g (1:15.3 Actual Ratio) 88°C Water 50g Pour - 0:00 - 0:10 - Fast Stir - Agitate 150g Pour - 0:30 - 0:40 - Fast 1:30 - Press Total Brew Time - 2:00
We used a Commandante grinder, on a medium grind setting for this brew. As this brew method features immersion, we feel that many roast profiles can fit this method, we suggest a grind range on Commandante set between 25-27 clicks.

In this video, Anna brews an Ethiopian coffee roasted by Personal Best Coffee Roasters. The coffee was an Anaerobic Natural produced by ALO coffee. Anna uses a Ceramic April Brewer paired with Small April Paper Filters. She grinds the coffee using a Comandante C60, one of many grinder choices that she has available at home. Anna chooses to use Aqua Panna filtered water for filter coffee brewing, using a 92 degree temperature for this recipe. She chose an Acaia scale for measuring dry dose and brew weight and served the coffee using mugs from Origami.

He ties all of this together with a water blend from Aquacode, and serves each brew in porcelain cups from April.

He is grinding using a hand grinder from Kinu, of which he is an ambassador and distributor, and thankfully he is able to give great insight into the benefits of the differing models in relation to filter brewing. He uses a Fellow Electric Gooseneck Kettle combined with local tap water and puts all of this together using scales from Ultrakoki.

This brewer is a handmade product, produced in Japan by various different specialist small producers, showcasing an exceptional level craftsmanship.
In this video we introduce the brewer and share our first recipe, a take on our traditional 13g - 200g April Brewer Recipe. Whilst we believe that you can achieve very good results whilst using this brewer, we also state that there will be a necessary seasoning process of approximately 5-10 brews before the results become completely taste neutral.
This brewer will also require more aftercare than the other brewers within the collection, as it is imperative that the brewer is wiped dry and correctly stored in order to maintain the shape and form over time.

In this video, John brews a frozen coffee roasted in Taiwan. The coffee was grown and processed in Colombia, and had been co-fermented with kumquat. John chose to grind this coffee using an Orbit grinder from Acaia, fitted with SSP burrs and an additional Ion Beam attachment to reduce static. He chose the April Plastic Brewer, combined with Kalita 185 paper filters and poured his brew water using an Electric Gooseneck Kettle from Fellow. The water he used was a reverse osmosis treated tap water, with additional minerals added via Perfect Cup from GC Water.

In this video, Sungwon brews a Kenyan coffee from Kamavingi, roasted by Real Bean Roasting House. He uses an April Plastic Brewer, combined with April Paper Filters. The coffee was ground using a Mahlkonig EK43, with some 3D printed modifications. Sungwon uses two pouring kettles, one from Fellow and one from Brewista, to achieve different velocities when pouring.

In this video, Dylan brews coffee using the Tricolate, a metal V60, as well as a La Pavoni Espresso Machine. He uses a Wilfa Uniform for both filter brews, and a Sette 270 to grind for espresso. He heats his water using a Fellow Electric Gooseneck Kettle, and weighs dry doses and brew weights with an Acaia Lunar. This episode features coffee from three different roasteries; Lykke, Junto and Vivid.

In this video, Joshua brews a Colombian Sidra from Dak Coffee Roasters, also known as Grenadine. This advanced fermentation natural was rested for 1 month before being brewed in a Japanese ice coffee style. Joshua used a very coarse grind on an Ode Gen 2 grinder from Fellow, paired with a Ceramic April Brewer and April Paper filters. He heated Brita filtered tap water using a Fellow Electric Gooseneck kettle, pouring 175g of water using 2 pours. This was combined with an 18g dry dose, and 75g of ice in the server to produce the final beverage.

In this video, Bryan shares two coffees from American roaster Black & White. The first, an instant coffee, is an interesting novelty and Patrik and Bryan enjoy this cup whilst preparing the pour over. The second, a thermal shocked coffee from Granja Paraiso 92, is brewed using an April Plastic Brewer, a DF64 grinder, 185 Kalita paper filters, cups and server from MK Studios, Acaia scales and a Brewista pouring kettle.

Ti even shows us his technique for producing milk beverages at home, using a Subminimal NanoFoamer.

In this video, Marcelo brews a Washed Panama Gesha from Loquat Coffee, showcasing his pouring techniques as well as his approach to variable temperature brewing.
Marcelo then accepts the challenge to brew a darker roasted coffee, this time from Ogawa Roasters. Whilst he uses the same brewing equipment, he modifies the grind size, pouring structure and even opts for dilution when brewing this significantly more developed roast.

In this video, Henrik brews a mystery coffee using his home espresso set-up. Henrik has invested in a unique combination of a classic espresso machine with a modern grinder. His highly modified La Pavoni features a Piston Pressure Kit, Bong Isolator, Brass Boiler Pipe Connector, Custom Made Stainless Steel Sleeve Jacket, Stainless Sight-glass Cover, Group Head Temperature Strip Set, Stainless Steel Single-hole Steam Wand Tip and IMS Shower Screen.
He combines this with a Millennium Tamper 51.6mm, Curbed Tamp Through Dosing Funner 51mm and 51.5mm Coffee Distributor. All modifications or accessories were purchased via coffee-sensor.com.
The grinder was already very familiar to us, an Option-O Lagom P100. The coffee featured in this video was a Natural SL28 from Volcan Azul in Costa Rica.

The paper filter you use, and how it sits in your brewer can be an important variable in coffee brewing. In this video, we explain our approach to matching the paper filters to the respective brewers whilst sharing our tips on rinsing for the most even distribution.
Each April brewer has slightly different properties, often due to the manufacturing process. Due to this, our original size of paper filters did not perfectly fit each of our brewers, leading us to release a new updated size with a larger base diameter and an increase in height.

In this video, Angelina uses an April Glass Brewer to brew a washed Colombian Gesha from the La Loma farm in Pitalito, Huila. She shows us her approach to brewing small volumes of coffee, 10g to 170g, whilst utilising a Comandante grinder, a Fellow Electric kettle and some some tools for agitation and ground dispersion.
It is clear from the sheer quantity of coffee and gear in her apartment that Angelina is a very dedicated coffee enthusiast. We hope you enjoy her brewing approach.

In this video, Don Cho brews a Honduran coffee from Standout Coffee, using his April Ceramic Dripper. Don uses a Weber Key 83mm conical burr grinder, opting for this over his EK-43 this time around. The grind size is set a little bit finer than average to match the flow rate and contact time provided by the Sibarist coffee filter.

In this video, Tao brews an unidentified espresso coffee using his Solis Barista Perfetta Plus. Tao uses a 53mm IMS shower screen (BV200IM), combined with an IMS 17g filter basket for the 54mm portafilter. The puck preparation is aided by serval Normcore products; the 54mm magnetic dosing funnel, the 53.3mm coffee distributor and 53.mm palm tamper as well as the WDT distribution tool (V2). The puck is finished off with an Mhw-3bomber 53mm puck screen.
The coffee was ground using Niche duo with an 83mm Mazzer Espresso Burr. The coffee was brewed using a local water of approximately 20ppm conductivity, and all weights and measured were verified using an Acaia Lunar scale.

In this video, Tao brews an Ethiopian washed Krume from Duromina, roasted by Livid Coffee Roasters. He utilised a K-Max from 1ZPresso to grind this coffee, and chose the April Plastic Brewer and April Paper Filters as his brewing combination. The water was a repeat for us, a bottled water named Sprinkle with a very low mineral content (9ppm conductivity).
Tao heated two Fellow Electric Kettles at variable temperatures for his brewing recipe, and used a Kinto Kettle for rinsing, and a Kinto Carafe as a server. He weighed out 12.5g of coffee using his Timemore Black Mirror Scale Plus, and brewed to a total volume of 200g of brew water. The coffee was served in Acme Bobby Mugs, displaying a rich floral aroma with stone-fruit notes.

In this video, Michael is brewing a Colombian coffee from the La Esperanza farm. A washed Pink Bourbon, with tasting notes of Jasmine, Sugarcane, Peach, Lychee and Black Tea. This coffee was roasted on 3/10 and brewed on 20/11. Patrik experienced Sugarcane and Peach notes with a Black Tea Finish. The coffee was roasted by Shin Coffee from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Michal used a Fellow Ode grinder, paired with an April Plastic Brewer and Kalita 185 filter papers. The water used was an 80% tap water blend, combined with 20% of Volvic mineral water as the tap water in Taipei is clean but very soft. The water temperature was heated to 93 degrees, but then poured across to a copper kettle which helped to achieve a water temperate of 91 degrees when brewing.
The kettle was really special, a hand made copper kettle, Burikiya Syozo from Japan. Thank you to Michael for sharing his home and this recipe with us.
