Seagulls Gather | Puckoon by Spike Milligan Book Review @SeagullsGather | Uploaded September 2023 | Updated October 2024, 1 day ago.
My review of Spike Milligan's book 'Puckoon' a 1963 novel that is set between the wars during the period Ireland was partitioned.
Spike Milligan was a British-Irish writer and comedian famous for his work with the surreal comedy group, "The Goon Show." Set in the fictional Irish village of Puckoon, the book is a satire of the absurdity of bureaucracy and human nature. The story follows the chaos that ensues when an arbitrary partition of Ireland splits the town in two.
Critically acclaimed for its irreverent humor, "Puckoon" is celebrated as an absurd and rollicking farce, that shows Milligan's unique brand of humour.
